View author's profile

With the EU Dungeon Siege III demo date set for June 22nd, US punters will be able to get their hands on the game a lot earlier with a trial version of the game available right now over on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Charting the journey of four adventurers for the Legion, Dungeon Siege III has you fighting to save the Kingdom of Ehb, using magic, melee skills, ranged weaponry and other legendary abilities in four-player co-op.

If you want an early taster of Dungeon Siege III in the US only, you can add the demo to your download queue now. Dungeon Siege III is out on June 17th in Europe and June 21st in North America.

Look at the bright side # 13, your release dates for games in the UK are always on Fridays aren't they? You have the whole weekend to enjoy a new game. Ours in NA are on Tuesdays for some ghastly reason....which sucks. I usually don't get to enjoy a new game properly until the weekend anyhow unless I take the day off work. :/

Who cares guys? I'm sure most of us won't even be able to play the full game, seeing as how Obsidian Entertainment is the developer. I still to this day have not been able to play all of the way through Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 or Fallout: New Vegas, and I bought both of them on day one!
BOYCOTT OBSIDIAN!!!

Just played the demo... that was probably one of the weirdest feeling games I've ever played. It was either really great or completely awful; I just have no idea which.

This demo was all types of dopeness. Looking forward to the retail release, plenty of fun with friends despite the funky co-op system.

I live in Canada and I was able to download the demo. So it is North America. BTW, to those that want to download the game. Save your time for something better.

Trust me, the demo affirmed that there isn't $60 worth of game here. It's stiff, and generally less than engaging.

While I can certainly appreciate how it might feel to be on the other side of the pond missing out on a demo, but let me offer a most subjective opinion from a longtime Dungeon Siege/Developer/Publisher fan...

I couldn't even make it through the demo, this is beyond bad. It looks horrible, it plays awful, it's boring beyond belief, there is an absurd amount of dialogue which is poorly written AND voiced ("I've been shot, by the guy with the gun" really? he's the one that got you? I thought it was the guy with the sword).

This is why many studios have stopped releasing demos. This is a game I was prepared to spend 60$ on and now am definitely not. I don't understand what it is with RPG's having the most abhorrent user interfaces, but even beyond that this game feels pretty uninspired.

I should imagine I'll still be playing hunted by the time this is released, so I'll just wait a bit longer for the Demo. I'm in no hurry. Some of these comments have me concerned though, it's sounding a little on the awful side.

I thought the demo was cool (not sure if that means $60 cool though). If you enjoyed Torchlight, this is essentially a big ass box of that with party members, co-op, and more visual variety (I know this series is older than TL, but most missed the train).

I keep hearing fans of the older games rag on this one, but if you look at gameplay from older games (the beginning of those versus the beginning of DS3)...I'm not seeing what the issue is.

#34. The combat and control of Torchlight is leagues ahead of this game. I am embarrassed you even put the two in the same sentence. The voice acting is better, the sound is better, the U.I is better and the co-op is better. On top of all that Torchlight is a XBLA game and costs 1/4 of the price. Now I know we are all basing this off of a demo but I doubt the full version will be any different.

@35
All of this is subjective and just based off of what we think but, the voice acting is comparably cheesy to me, there aren't any sounds worth competing over (lightning bolt #537, whoosh), U.I. is different, not better, and there is no co-op in Torchlight (only in the 2nd one, which hasn't been released).

I was trying to say here's more dungeon crawling in a (presumably) larger package, and since there aren't many dungeon crawlers on the system, I used TL as a comparison since it's popular and may have attracted some new fans to the genre, who may then also be interested in this.

Since were still riding the opinion train: TL is fun, but overrated (especially in the PC market) for doing what others have done a million times, but still getting treated like something so hot that it leaves people "embarrassed" when compared to other games. DS3 doesn't have the copy & paste skill trees full of worthless abilities that other games do, but it's approaching combat from what I think is an interesting perspective that tries to keep things versatile in a genre of monotony and doesn't paint each character into one box (remember what train were on).

Oh, and Alchemist is cooler than Destroyer, tl:dr, the end.
