Operation Flashpoint: Red River DLC Announced

Operation Flashpoint: Red River’s first DLC has been announced.

Fans of the (kind-of) realistic shooter set in Tajikistan will be able to download The Valley of Death Pack at the end of June for 560 MSP.

Included in the pack are “eight new Fireteam Engagements playable in single-player or in four player online co-op.”

Within this, expect two new Combat Sweep missions, two new CSAR missions, two new Last Stand missions and two new Rolling Thunder missions.

Accompanying the announcement are three new screenshots detailing the environments featured in downloadable content. That one with the bridge looks familiar to a section in the campaign, no? Check them out below.

This was pre-order DLC was it not? and early DLC does not matter as long as the normal game is complete. They gave a finished game and want to give everyone more, i dont see why that's a reason for everyone to complain, even if it is soon after release.

the cool thing about dlc? they can work on it after the game goes gold :)

@3 childish comment showing an utter lack of any knowledge about how games are made. well done.

@6 really? maybe you don't know how the business world works kid, because taking content from the disk and making dlc makes more money, every developer does it. Don't call me out little boy :)

@7 #6 is correct you however are just presuming that developers take ou content from games to sell as dlc. Coming from someone who obviously likes COD, that is a rich statement, very rich...

@8 Just a few things:

1. Why it's obvious you like cod:

1a. Your gamer pic is a subtle way of advertising yourself or your interests so yes, that's one reason you like cod, hence why mine shows my avatar dressed as a pirate......

1b. Your gamer card shows you have maxed out BLOPS and have also played at least 3 other COD titles out there. You don't keep buying pepsi if you don't like the taste.

2. Reasons why your point is invalid and you contradict yourself:

2a. The game has been out for (around) two months in the UK, games are generally finished long before the release which is when they start working on any dlc they have planned.

2b. As previously stated you have maxed out blops which means you have paid 1200msp for the map packs and if I'm correct, two have been released, which according to you should have been on the disk anyway. Yet you still bought them. Nice.

3. Don't call me kid just because you got called one by acting childish, try come up with something unique and with a bit more flare.

I really enjoyed Dragon Rising but haven't picked this title up yet. I'll probably wait until it's dirt cheap. Or since it seems to be the thing to do with games that have DLC, wait until it has a GotY edition, or Gold Edition or Ultimate edition, whatever they call it.

@13 I did, finished it in 4ish days then returned it, it is a good game as it improves over dragon rising but to become more accessible it has become slightly more arcadey (Still not Cod or Bf arcade).

The ai was still abit ropey at some points but played in coop with 3 other players was a blast, it also has battles happening around you as it's not just your squad fighting the same battle so you feel less like Rambo and more like a regular soldier. It's a rent but that's my 2 cents.

Oh and they got lazy and removed all vehicles to play around in other than hummers because (and I quote) "Marines don't fly helicopters, we want to make it more realistic".

@10 - Said everything I wanted to say!! Nice one, especially for the "kid" comment, that irritated me. Didn't like being called childish so he started over-playing the word "kid", that 'kid' is so blatant and immature... :')

Moving on...

DLC looks cool, but I'm only renting and almost got the 1,000G so not really worth purchasing although the images look lush!

May consider purchasing Red River despite the fact that I've rented it and almost maxed the core achievements. But I will only buy it DEPENDING HEAVILY on its future DLC and whether CMs pull out early on DLC again like they did with Dragon Rising for future projects (If so:- Let that be the next OFP pretty please!).

Dragon Rising had potential but this game obviously rights alot of the previous wrongs. Soldier Skills and Class customization was a neccessity for me and I really appreciate that addition. Still alot to improve on, however.

Also, I don't think thos EGO engine is cutting it for me any longer. Anybody else seeing what the market has to offer these days? Of course! Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2 Engine is blowing the competition away. Codies need to step it up a notch!
