FEAR 3
This Week's UK X360 Top 20 Charts
Written By
View author's profile

In an unexpected twist worthy of a film noir crime thriller, LA Noire has returned to the number 1 spot in the charts this week, keeping FEAR 3 from claiming a perfect debut. That said, FEAR 3 does still manage to be the highest new entry in the charts this week, keeping Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Shadows of the Damned at bay.

Surprisingly, Shadows of the Damned is the lowest new entry into the top 20, only managing to scrape out a disappointing first week position at number 16, despite largely positive reviews.

Also worthy of note in the charts this week is the absence of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Homefront, showing that people are either tired of miltary shooters or they're just not a summer thing. They're out of season. Whatever the case, both have left the top 20 this week.

Next week, will UFC Personal Trainer grind out a decent chart position?

First week without a CoD in the charts for almost 4 years !

And Red Faction: Armageddon is a great game so it's sad to see it down there :(

The saddest is that Brink and even Zumba fitness has pushed my loved Homefront out of the charts.

I'm surprised Duke only dropped to 4th, what with the beating the game has gotten from both the Press and Gamers.

Can't really understand what has happened with Shadows. Not sure why EA did not hype it more. I think that most gamers would be sold solely on the fact that it is Mikami and Suda working together. 16th is definitely a disappointment. Thinking about it, they didn't exactly push Alice that hard, either. Puzzling. Maybe word of mouth will push Shadows up next week, it is a very fun game, in my opinion.

@8 - I somewhat expected to see Shadows low, but not that low. Just following the number of comments in the news articles about the game, one could deduce that not many people are interested. The fact is that the game's creators are niche names, and are not expected to draw a wide audience.
I am actually pleased that it sold badly, because it means I have to wait less for a steep price drop, as I definitely want to pick it up and enjoy it.

@12 - People like you need to be bitch slapped a couple times, completely disregarding other peoples tastes and calling them retards. Seriously? If you don't like something, suddenly everyone who does becomes retards?

I don't understand; if Crysis is still going (pretty) strong why the hell is no one playing online!

The matchmaking lobbies in this game must be broken.

#13 - Not sure that they are niche, really... Mikami alone has been responsible for Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, two truly massive video game franchises, and that isn't exactly a matter of opinion, either. Add to that Killer 7, No More Heroes, Bayonetta, and God Hand, and you have some big names.

And although the game selling badly may enable you to pick it up cheaply, what does it mean for the future of the franchise, and for other, similar, games? If a game like this sells badly, I think that it is hard to see it as anything other than a bad thing. Bad sales = less games. Also, it would be nice to see them rewarded for their hard work, no? There is more at stake here than just some extra pounds / dollars in our wallets, in my opinion. We need to support visionaries such as these.

I ust picked up LA NOIRE this weekend on sale at best buy for $40 - great deal and amazing game, so that might be the reason. never really though Shadows of Damned would do good, so no surprises there:-P Just wait till new map pack comes out and Black Ops pops on first place out of nowhere;-)

@19 it was their decision to being out a 10 hour game with no MP and zero replayability (no new game +). Even worse that the difficulty achievements don't stack, I suppose they thought that would increase the life on the game?!

Looking at it on paper, it's a 'renter' and no more, which is a shame because it looks fun.

So, they knew the deal before they released it. You never know, perhaps they will still meet their sales target as it wouldn't be as big as the AAA games

@21 Duke Nukem was everything I was expecting it to be, a Duke game. Wasn't a letdown at all because I had more fun with Duke nukem then any other game I have played recently that has been on current generation consoles.

I'm glad RF:Armageddon is falling fast. It was one of my most anticipated games this year until THQ removed the MP and because of that I won't be buying anymore THQ games new.

@18 The game is pretty short, but has a ton of unlockables and extras to add to the game, like effects, music, artwork, etc. And the game is fun, weirdly being more fun using the Kinect. i hope you; enjoy it :)
