Whaaaaa Penny arcade has a game?Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:46 PM
20 bucks!? I'm going to have to think twice before buying it.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:44 PM
$20?!?! They're going a bit overboard with the price of XBLA games. The new ones are never 400M$ points anymore. At least they drop the price on old ones sometimes I guess, yea DOOM.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:49 PM
20 bucks! wow, better be good, im looking foward to it. Maybe they should give us 500 gs for that price.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:53 PM
Yeah 20 bucks is way too much for an episodic game. For 20 bucks they should give us all of the other episodes for free.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:53 PM
Yah $20 is alot, if the game is good then its worth it (Obviously), 500 GS points would be nice.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:58 PM
it is looking quite good, but not sure if its worth the pointsSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 04:59 PM
Considering how good the Sam and Max games are, I think this might be well worth the price.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:00 PM
It is $20, but the article is wrong. $20 is 1600MSP not 2100.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:19 PM
this game looks crap.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:22 PM
What is Penny Arcade? Is it a US thing? Game lloks good and fun, bit like Monster Madness but overall i like it!!! 2100 ms points is £17.50 in the UK. I can get half the retail games avalible for less than that on eBay!!! If it has easy achievements i may get it, i need a long and decent arcade game.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:10 PM
Yeah, Hothead mentioned 1600MSP on the most recent gamespot Hotspot podcast. Hell, in the UK 2100 points is equivalent to £17.85 - or nearly $36 - which is just a little crazy.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:31 PM
For 20 bucks they can keep it.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:31 PM
Yeah, 20 bucks is 1600. 2100 points costs $26.25.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:33 PM
Reminds me of grabbed by the gholies for xbox.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:35 PM
for that much? no thanksSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:41 PM
So is it $19.99 or 2100 MSP? I was really looking forward to this game, but if they are going to gouge us, they can keep it.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:38 PM
I think this is going to be more of a normal game that could have been put out on a disc, but instead it's going to be downloadable. I mean it's a going to cross platform even on to Macs and Linux computers. So I would expect thre to be a lot more content than the normal XBLA games. And, if you think about it, the Xbox originals are $10, so for a brand new game that could possibly be close to the same amount of content, $20 isn't that bad a deal. I think real judgment would have to come about the price for download on other systems and how developed a game it is. The trailer is mostly cut scenes, so it's hard to get an accurate picture.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:49 PM
1600 Microsoft points?!...(I hope it has more than 200 Achievement points).Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:51 PM
Lol!!! $20 (or $25?) for that shitty looking thing! Ha-ha! yeah right their crap isnt even funny. Eff you penny arcade!Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:53 PM
Whatever. This game looks brilliant.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:52 PM
game looks funSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 05:54 PM
crikies, it's like you are being forced to buy the thing.... try the demo when it arrives, you like.......... you buy.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 06:00 PM
Sorry guys, I messed up the MSP points. Should have been 1600 aka $19.99 -- Fixed!Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 06:03 PM
Pass. Quickly.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 06:07 PM
20 $ for a 200 achievement points? VGcats is funnier than penny arcade anyways.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 06:06 PM
Why? oh why? oh why? We want the classic games not this pile of crap.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 06:24 PM
ATTENTION EVERYONE-IF THIS GAME SELLS WELL, EVENTUALLY ALL THE GAMES WILL BE $19.99 DON'T GIVE IN TO THIS TROJAN HORSE OF INFLATION!!!Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 06:33 PM
For the Uk gamers it will be alot more then $20 so they can stick there penny arcade some of the arcade games is over priced it's not even funny games like sonic streets of rage etc. should be no more then 200msSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 07:08 PM
if its good ill give it a shotSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 07:12 PM
£13.60 for an arcade game? I really don't think so (unless it's AMAZING) PeaceSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 07:41 PM
I still think it's crazy that they are releasing such an expensive game on XBLA. Why don't they just work a little harder for a little longer and release 3 episodes on disc, then they can just rape us for the whole $60 and nobody would even notice.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 07:47 PM
$20? Maybe I'll wait til the price goes down. I was really excited about playing it, too.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 08:19 PM
Hahah the Clown gave me the finger! XD 'Captivating 2D' I like games that take the piss out of themselves, *Points at The Simpsons Game*. Looks nice, this game will be cheaper in UK muahahaha!!Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 08:42 PM
The graphics look like theirs alot of effort there and im willing to pay the price! Looks fun!Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 08:57 PM
$20 is insane!!! They are out of their minds if they think the casual gamers are going to drop $20 for this. Diehard fans of the comic may, but I know I wont.Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 09:17 PM
well the way i see it is this...been a long time fan of the comic...but for $20 the demo better WOW the hell out of me...as well as i better get the rest of the episodes for cheap, if not free.....but hey people have paid more for less....and waht is going on with the XLA games any ways they seem to either be crap or to damn expensive, this is a trend i hope comes to an end soonSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 09:35 PM
For 20 bucks this thing better go get me a beer while I'm playing it. Then maybe it'll be worth the price...Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 10:43 PM
good comic, probly a good game. but 1600MSP? isnt 1200MSP £/$19.99, cause thats the price of the Oblivion: Shieving Isle pack. not 1600. but this would be the most expensive arcade game, even dearer than a orignal game. the demo has to be minted before anyone buy its... Any date for this game yet?Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 10:58 PM
wow, id almost assume start a petition so nobody buys this til they drop the price to 1200, but well have to see. I buy arcade games for achiev most the time, and 20 bucks for 200 achiev is kind of high, game better be really goodSaturday, March 29, 2008 @ 11:06 PM
i hate penny arcade >_< I dont see the big deal about themSunday, March 30, 2008 @ 01:03 AM
I must say, it looks like a well put together piece of work. But for that price, they may as well market it as a disc, and have future episodes DL-able. Despite the price, it looks very good.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 01:13 AM
Penny Arcade is a very unfunny webcomic to begin with, and I probably wouldn't pay the regular $10 price for anything they put out on the arcade. But $20? And they always make jokes about other webcomic authors whoring for money. Hypocrites.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 03:09 AM
Let's all get together and NOT purchase this to send them a message!!!Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 04:13 AM
Woah, Too much for a game that 200G and probably crappy.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 06:54 AM
Okay, this game looks pretty good. You can totally customize your character, multilayer, online, and all, but unless this game has 10+ hours of game play I won't be purchasing this game until it drops in price.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 07:18 AM
20 bucks for "Episode ONE"? What a pile of crap. No way I'm buying this.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 07:56 AM
I wonder if they will give any of us PAX goers a little discount on the game, that would be very nice, Penny Arcade Expo FTW!Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 08:44 AM
the should have put this on a disc, i dont want to pay 20 bucks for a game and then have my xbox red ring and then i lose the ability to play it offlineSunday, March 30, 2008 @ 01:13 PM
$20 is a tad extreme. Especially if you pay for it and your console dies and you lose it. Look at the price of the Penny-arcade Pic packs comapred to other independants on the market place. But with that being said, if the demo is good i will buy itSunday, March 30, 2008 @ 02:35 PM
I think the actual game looks like it would be lots of fun but I am not sure about the price like many others. I am anxious to play a demo and see what it is all about.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 04:19 PM
I wouldn't pay 400 points for thisSunday, March 30, 2008 @ 04:21 PM
Is it me or is there 99.9% of people on this site complete tight arses? Its like less than 15 quid, jesus you paid £40 for Assassins Creed and that probably had less gameplay and playtivity than this game. Sort your lives out if its good buy it, if not don't. Just don't complain about the price for gods sake!!!Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 04:58 PM
Uhmm, I didn't pay for assassins creed. That game was garbage. Assuming things make an ass out of you. And playtivity? Where the hell did you make that word up from?Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 05:09 PM
Gotta agree with the sentiment of "That demo better wow the hell out of me." Despite that I enjoy Penny Arcade and had been looking forward to this, $20 is just above what I'd like to pay. I'll hold out hope that it's worth it, but as of right now, I'll be holding out for a price drop.Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 07:00 PM
ill gladly cough up 20 bucksSunday, March 30, 2008 @ 09:31 PM
WHAT???Monday, March 31, 2008 @ 12:19 AM
Rip-off - 'nuff said.Monday, March 31, 2008 @ 03:56 AM
$20 for a killer game isnt a bad price. If you guys want to be stuck with games like Joust then enjoy your 400 point games. Keep our options open and the games coming! Also from the sound of it.. this will have a lot of replay value! I'm hoping for a good mock 'dungeon crawler' type of game... I miss Gauntlet Legends.Monday, March 31, 2008 @ 05:46 AM

Ok, here's the scoop. This game has been in development for a while. The game is a turn-based RPG where you can make an animated character based on the art style of Penny Arcade, while your teammates are Gabe and Tycho. The story is probably one of their better works, and includes many of the characters they've come up with over time. It remains to be seen if this title will live up to what they are promising, but knowing that Gabe and Tycho are very critical about games (usually) this game should be worth something. Just not sure if it's worth $20. Turn-based is an old concept in some people's books, but a lot of the classic FF games and other RPGs that came out during that time, good and bad, followed this idea with many people thinking of ways to make it better. Penny Arcade's game mighMonday, March 31, 2008 @ 05:54 AM
Ouch, text limit. Penny Arcade's game might have the formula. I can't wait to at least play the demo, but I'm very tight-fisted with my cash. We all work hard for it. Their website is http://www.penny-arcade.com/ so you may want to read up, however as of this posting I didn't see anything about their game on the site. You can check out the archives and older news posts about it though.Monday, March 31, 2008 @ 05:54 AM
Sorry about the double post's was a little smashed when I tried this. All I really have to say is that its all about the $ , soul's are so shallow these days

Fans of the hilarious webcomic may have heard of this game, but to most it is most likely filed in the "What?" category. I for one am really looking forward to it. Anywho, the real news here is the pricing of "Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One" at a whopping 1600MSP, aka $19.99 USD. That effectively makes it the most expensive arcade game to date, or at least it will when the game is released "sometime this spring."
Check out the game's official site for plenty of info, but this is the official description and the debut trailer:
"On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness is an episodic RPG-Adventure game set in a deranged comic-book-meets-pulp-horror universe. Armed with unconventional weaponry, you join forces with the Startling Developments Detective Agency to make war on bizarre enemies and solve the mysteries hidden deep in the sinister heart of New Arcadia.
From the hilarious and twisted minds of Penny Arcade creators Mike ‘Gabe’ Krahulik and Jerry ‘Tycho’ Holkins, legendary game designer Ron Gilbert and veteran producers at Hothead Games comes a 100% authentic and hilarious Penny Arcade experience.
All episodes of On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness will be available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade, Windows, Mac and Linux."
