As if we even thought for one second that BioWare would ditch the Mass Effect franchise once Mass Effect 3 is released into the wild. That's what you call insanity, so BioWare has been looking at various possibilities as to where it can take the franchise next, with Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk telling Forbes that it's looking at the possibilities for another Mass Effect game, post-Mass Effect 3.
"Certainly the setting has really resonated with people, the type of aliens in the world, the type of people that inhabit space. Obviously we focus first and foremost on nailing it on this game, and then, you know, the possibilities in the future are very, very broad," said BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk.
"We want to make sure it’s awesome," BioWare CEO and fellow co-founder Ray Muzyka added. "[Mass Effect 3] is our first focus. Beyond that, we do have a desire to continue the Mass Effect franchise, and we’re working on the details, figuring out what the fans want, figuring out the right way."
And who knows what that "right way" might be? A multiplayer Mass Effect and talk of a Mass Effect MMO has been doing the rounds for some time now. Perhaps the next Mass Effect could adopt the guise of one of those? Or perhaps not. For now, we'll be looking forward to simply playing Mass Effect 3 on March 6th, 2012.
