Operation Flashpoint: Red River's first batch of DLC is now available from the Xbox Live Marketplace, introducing eight new fireteam engagements spread across two new locations in the 'Valley of Death' mission pack. There's a Soviet manufacturing town, filled with old factories and warehouses, just outside a deserted Tajik settlement and a riverside mudbrick village located beneath some imposing hilltop ruins that provide a perfect overwatch position.

These two new locations play host to 2 new Combat Sweep missions - 'Cordon & Search' and 'Concrete Jungle' - 2 new CSAR missions - 'Smash & Grab' and 'Shepherd's Watch' - 2 new Rolling Thunder missions - 'Cattle Drive' and 'Red Eye' - and 2 new Last Stand Missions - 'The High Ground' and 'Hold the Line'.

All eight missions are playable in both single-player and 4-player co-op. You can snap up the Operation Flashpoint: Red River 'Valley of Death' DLC from the Xbox Live Marketplace now for 560 Microsoft Points. You can add it to your download queue here. Check out the trailer for the new add-on below.

Search and Destroy modes are always my favourite. It requires patience and skill, you can't just run around halo jumping and spraying, you need tactics. Maybe I'll rent this seeing it finally has a similar mode implemented.

I still plan to pick this up, probably at some point when I find it on sale for a really good price.

Is the DLC worth it?

I have been thoroughly dissapointed in thi new title. Mainly due to the fact that you have no control really over how you complete a mission anymore which is why i loved DR. You just follow some raging black guy and lsiten to him insult everyone and everything on the way. i love the new setting but the gameplay just didnt deliver.

I somewhat agree with #7. The campaign is far more scripted. Though I will say, it picks up after the third mission. I literally hated the game playing the first two missions, but my friend who loves it kept me at it, and I'm enjoying it. Still think Dragon Rising was better, but this is fun.

@5: If you click the "Achievements" link at the top of the page, you can see the list has a sub-section for this DLC with its achievements.
