Activision has announced the release dates for both X-Men: Destiny and Spider-Man: Edge of Time at Comic-Com in San Diego, revealing that both games will be released in the middle of the end-of-year explosion of games in the stores, meaning you'll be spoilt for choice in the comic book gaming stakes.

X-Men: Destiny will see new mutants joining the X-Men universe in Silicon Knights' action RPG, while Spider-Man: Edge of Time sees Spidey going all multi-dimensional again, as present day Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 overlap timelines, with 'cause and effect' gameplay.

Silicon Knights' X-Men: Destiny will be launching on September 27th, 2011 while Beenox's Spider-Man: Edge of Time will be weaving its web on October 4th, 2011. Thwip.

Spiderman games have really impressed me of late, Web Of Shadows was brilliant, and reminded me of the equally brilliant Incredible Hulk (Yes I am praising a movie adaptation). Shattered Dimensions was also a fantastic game, but I felt a place in my heart for Spiderman Noire's take on the game, those levels could be a game of their own they was so damn good. Why Noire is not included in the new game is tragic!

@5 almost everything is coming out in October. Batman, rage, dark souls, twisted metal,
I'm sure there's more. Sad day for wallets

Were the last couple Spiderman games really that great?

I absolutely loved Spiderman 2, and Spiderman 3 was really good, too. I haven't played any since, mainly because they seemed to have moved away from full, open-world freedom which was absolutely my favorite aspect of Spiderman 2.

Anyway, of these two I'm most interested in X-Men. I just hope the controls are solid, with nothing stupid like Too Human, and that the RPG elements are addicting enough.

I have a bad feeling about this x-men game, the fact Silicon Knights is developing doesn't help either.

I hope this x-men game is more like x-men legends and less like ultimate alliance

@10 X-Men Legends was good, but I don't want another clone of that. I want an X-Men that's good and different from what's been done before.

Wow, only 12 comments (including this one)? I can't believe there isn't more support for these two games. Personally, I'm totally psyched about X-men Destiny, despite Silicon Knights' Too Human blunder.

I love me some X-Men but they don't produce the best games. I can wait for reviews before buying it.
