GTA IV - The Tidbits

I don't know about anyone else, but on slow news days such as these, I find myself jumping from site to site finding out every little murmur from the industry that I can. Now, we're in April right and we all know what that means, GTA release date month. So I had a bit of a topical scout round the web today for anything new and interesting about the killer game that is sneaking up on us [well, not sneaking... Really, more of a London, peak hour traffic crawl] and I found a great piece over on CVG exploring the little bits that that make Liberty City so interactive.
In an article titled "Secrets 'N' More", CVG document some of the mysterious unknown side tasks that are available in Liberty City. You know, the relish on your burger, the sprinkles on your ice cream cone... The final little touches that will make GTA the complete game we've come to expect.
Here are a sample of our favourites and things that actually will add to the wow factor to the title...
"1 GAME FOR A LAUGH
There are plenty of mini-games tucked away in GTA IV. Old favourites pool, basketball and Go Go Space Monkey return, joining new games such as darts. You can even visit the driving range to practice your golf swing. For fights, of course."
"5 SMILE FOR THE CAMERA
We knew that the camera would return, and now it's been placed on the mobile phone. But the official website hints at something quite brilliant, and even more exciting: the ability to upload and share your pics with other GTA IV players."
"10 TICKER TAPED
Rob a bank? Murder a crime boss? People are going to know about it. The news tickers in Star Junction (Liberty City's Times Square) and around the city are always being updated - along, sadly for you, with descriptions of the perpetrator."
"13 JUST GOTTA RIDE IT
Flushing Meadows (site of the NY World's Fair) is featured in its entirety, as is a recreation of theme park Astroland at Coney Island. Rides such as the Corpse Ride and Cyclone can be tested, and the major tourist spots will play a part in some missions."
"15 PHONE SEXY
In a nod to Saints Row, any phone number you find, be it on a sign, flyer or even scrawled on a bathroom wall, can be contacted for aid and, sometimes, secrets."
Some fantastic little touches there. Here's hoping to be able to upload and share your best GTA snaps with your friends. The 29th really can't come quick enough!!
