Fans of rugger will get a kick out of this second Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge gameplay trailer, which unlike the first video, shows actual on-pitch action demonstrating the on-screen HUD and actual mechanics that you'll be getting to grips with when the game launches later in the year.

Hoping to be the most realistic rugby game yet, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge will release with the following features:

  • Single Match Mode, Competition Mode, and multi year Career Mode as well as extensive help and Tutorial Mode options available for players new to the sport
  • 93 teams and 31 stadia featured including official team and competition licenses for the All Blacks, the Qantas Wallabies, the USA Eagles, Tri Nations, Bledisloe Cup, Super Rugby teams, Aviva Premiership Rugby, TOP 14 Orange, RaboDirect PRO12, ITM Cup, and Ranfurly Shield
  • Enjoy the game with groups of friends locally, or compete in online multiplayer with support up to 4v4 via Xbox Live
  • Create or customise players, teams, and competitions using the extensive customisation tools to shape the game to your own preferences and keep the game fresh season after season
  • Dynamic presentation delivers a true on-field rugby experience with enhanced replay angles, lifelike cut-scenes, rich sound, and real-time commentary from seasoned rugby commentators Grant Nisbett and Justin Marshall

Featuring scrums, long kicks and fast-paced running play in the bid to score tries and convert points with  well-aimed kick, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge is certainly looking the part ahead of its release in quarter 3 2011. Check out the new gameplay trailer below for a proper look at the game.

@2 Rugby League Live is an awful game, and is a different sport to what @1 is referring to!

Both JL Challenge and Rugby World Cup look infinitely better and I can't wait to play both!

Insert comment from typical European who says that rugby is much tougher than American football here.

Sorry guys, I know rugby players are tough, but they don't compare to American football players. Go see some highlight vids on YouTube of the hardest hits and you will see what I mean.

@8 Rugby players don't wear protection. And if you think American Football players are tougher, its probably because they stock up on steroids.

maybe the reason football requires pads is because it is much tougher? we Americans just don't really embrace team sports that use kicking (not me, I'm a soccer fanatic and I don't mind Rugby at 2 am). Rugby is tough, but the speed of the collisions in the NFL is frightening, pads or none.

A#12: How often to rugby players get paralyzed from crushing hits? I can rattle off several NFL players that have, including one who died. Trust me, protection or no protection, NFL players are bigger, faster, stronger and the game is more dangerous. Also, to #10: they randomly test for steroids in the NFL and ban players who use it, so that argument holds no water at all.

American football=short bursts of intense speed and power
Rugby=80mins of battering each other(mostly without fists)

both tough, simple as!

I love American football, but I'd love for one of these rugby games to come out here in the States.
