At least he's still a major part of the story, I was hoping they would announce something like this. Since they took away some of the best game mechanics from the original at least they kept Tommy.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 12:22 PM
Awesome!!! So glad it's an actual "sequel" kind of.. I thought it was just in the same universe and that's it.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 12:28 PM
LOL. I guess they heard everyone bitching (myslef included...) and decided that they needed something that would actually show this is related to original. I don't believe that bs of trying to make it a surprise one bit:-PWednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 12:29 PM
That good that they kept him apart of the game instead of just starting it over with some shit storylineWednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 12:47 PM
I'm glad to see he's returning but... This will still be completely weird how Prey suddenly morphed into this completely different game and how this whole universe just shows up. Not sure how he'll fit there.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 12:52 PM
Nice jacket Tom.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 12:59 PM
Saw a live demo of this at quakecon. Looks really cool. Gameplay mechanics are very fluid, and the open world looks great; very blade runner like. I was also glad to see they have really embraced the whole 'multiple pathways' idea as well. Looking forward to this one.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 01:07 PM
Was hoping for a better screenshot...Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 01:12 PM
I figured they were keeping Tommy in the game in some form or another. Hes got a job to do, like leading an alien revolution of sorts. Or he already did that. I was kinda fuzzy about the aftermath of Prey 1. I'm glad. Tommy was probably the first badass native american I've ever played in a game that was pretty respectful (in my white ignorant eyes at least) to the culture.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 02:33 PM
Whether it employs the same mechanics as the first game or not, I am very happy that this IP is still alive and kicking. Tommy's encounters on the Sphere was a great tale and I was very intrigued at the history behind the Sphere and all those bastard alien races the Queen had at her disposal. I am very happy to see the same universe expanded and told from another perspective while going back and revisiting parts of what had grabbed my attention in the first place. Is it great to be gamer in this day and age...Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 02:41 PM
But the question remains... Will this sequel continue to scare the crap out of me? Because Prey 1 did.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 03:34 PM
WoW this game looks amazing compared to the rubbish/fair sequel.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 04:00 PM
Looks like Tommy has his trusty red wrench with him again, never leave earth without it.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 04:30 PM
all this talk about prey 2 looks like I should go get prey and see what it is all about. 3 dollars at gamestop...sure!Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 04:55 PM
coop maybe? hmmm... that be a nice twist.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 05:26 PM
Tommy found a new planet...but what he couldn't find was a change of clothes.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 06:43 PM
This is awesome news.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 07:15 PM
its good tommys back I just hope they dont do online like the last game that was garbage!Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 08:18 PM
Looking good so far, Prey was like my second game on the 360.Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @ 09:58 PM
@4: I think you're right, and I'm glad they're keeping close to the original continuity; hell Tommy even still has his old jacket!Thursday, August 11, 2011 @ 12:36 AM
Sexcellent.Thursday, August 11, 2011 @ 01:30 AM
Awesome glad they done this, I was thinking that he was not going to be in it at all.Thursday, August 11, 2011 @ 06:21 AM

While Prey 2 is a pretty different beast to its forebear, what with Killian Samuels taking centre-stage and linear corridors being eschewed in favour of a more open-world structure on the planet Exodus, original hero Domasi "Tommy" Tawodi will be making a return, and he'll play a major role too.
"He's a character that you encounter many times throughout the game. It's not just a single cameo where he shows up and takes off. He's integral to the story and events on Exodus," Human Head's Chris Rhinehart told IGN. "One of the big things is, the unique abilities that Tommy has, specifically spirit walk and death walk, are integral to his role and how he actually fits into the story."
Rhinehart also asserted that it was always part of the overarching plan to have Tommy feature heavily in Prey 2. "When we started we didn't want to reveal Tommy initially. We wanted to hold it back and make it a surprise for people that Tommy is still an important part of the game."
There's also reasoning behind not making Tommy the protagonist for the Prey sequel, favouring a new character in Sheriff Killian Samuels. "Really what it comes down to is we wanted to tell other stories in the Prey universe. We wanted to expand it and show the breadth of this universe that we were creating. New character, different mechanics, new visuals, but Tommy is still a critical character."
You can take a look at one of Tommy's appearances in the game in the screenshot, then look forward to getting your hands on Prey 2 when it launches in 2012.
