The Penny Arcade boys have announced that they will be teaming with indie developer Zeboyd Games (Breath of Death VII, Cthulhu Saves the World) to bring closure to their planned four-game series, starting next year with Episode 3. Once original developer Hothead Games moved on to their successful DeathSpank franchise, it seemed all hope was lost, and they went so far as to release the game's conclusion as a prose narrative on their website. However, the series will be resurrected next year, transforming into the 16-bit style Zeboyd is accustomed to.
"We originally had the idea of an NES-style RPG last year, but we couldn't find the right people to do it," said Robert Khoo of Penny Arcade. "After we saw Zeboyd's Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World, we knew we didn't have to look around anymore. Zeboyd was a perfect match."
