Is it just me, or are the graphics really... "un-counter-strikey"?Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:20 AM
I'm assuming this is still running on the Source engine. Might get this, although I only played with bots (I suck, otherwise ;D)Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:20 AM
I like the idea of cross platform play, definite buySunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:20 AM
This looks incredible. I was amazed when they said it would be coming to XBL. I will spend countless hours playing this game.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:33 AM
Hope there's some way of avoiding cross platform play though, don't like the idea of coming up against all the PC regulars with my Xbox controller. :3Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:36 AM
Brilliant game, just hope that Cross-platform play doesn't mean mods etc,. (From my experience on the PC.)Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:40 AM
Do not want. I always regarded counter strike as a poor kids version of real shooter games. And this will never change.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:42 AM
@5 xbox doesn't have cross-platform play, microsoft seems to be against itSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:47 AM
@3 I thought it was only cross platform between PC and PS3 as they both have steam. I could be wrong though. @7 what would you say a real shooter is then considering Counter Strike is one of the most popular fps games ever. I will definetely be picking this up on the PC and maybe on the xbox later.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 07:57 AM
cross platform will sadly come to mac vs pc as that's what valve is pushing at the moment, it has keyboard and mouse support for ps3 though, and as they both have steam i suppose they could link up, but don't bet on it :( definate pc buy though :DSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:00 AM
The King is back.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:00 AM
@8 yes they do. Shadowrun and universe at war. They don't do it because I guess they don't think people want it because those games sold poorly. In reality though it's because they suck.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:04 AM
@8 ever heard of Shadowrun?Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:07 AM
Is that Louis in the second screenshot?Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:11 AM
I just looked it up. Only PC, Mac and PS3 get cross platform cmatability. THE FUCK!?Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:32 AM
Awsome, though i would prefer news on Half life 2 episode 3 or portal 2 dlc if i'm honestSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:35 AM
its not getting cros platform as microsoft does not alow it the games like shadowrun have been tests, and that was only allowed due to it running through live, instead of steamSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:48 AM
wow cant waitSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:49 AM
@14 It certainly looks like it with the red medpack on his back.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:59 AM
@19 That's green.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 09:18 AM
meh.....Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 09:31 AM
Never played CS before but I cant wait to see what all the hype has been about. Sucks that there is no crossplatform play for Xbox but I dont want to go against PC pro and their mouse & Keyboard combo.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 09:35 AM
Ill buy it nevertheless after reading reviews etc, but right now the graphics are freaking me out- its reminding too much of CoD when they could have just gave me the Source engine/ported CSS. Now it looks like a mix of Rainbow Six/CoD and though graphics mean nothing im hoping they didnt change the gameplay which is the main factor of Counter-Strike.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:04 AM
There is a reason 360 is left out of the cross platform play and that is because of the lack of mouse and keyboard support. Anyone stuck with a 360 controller is at a huge disadvantage to even some of the bad mouse and keyboard players.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:12 AM
looks like i'll be buying 2 versions of this game then have to have it on PC, but i need achievements for it too, so i'll have to get it on XBLA too. @ others, that ain't the source engine, far better details, different movement etc, maybe source 2.0 or something, definately looks like a lot has changed, hope it runs good, and the community doesn't get swamped by pricks also hope the CoD / Halo guys give it a chance, rather than doing their usual dismissing of any competition to their preferred franchiseSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:26 AM
DAY 1 BUY - ol memorys 4 sure !!Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:28 AM
@20 Oh yeah, it is. I blame seeing it on my phone and not zooming in.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:28 AM
There's no cross-platform play on the 360 because Microsoft won't allow Steam integration over Xbox Live. It's the same reason PS3 users had cross-platform between PC with Portal 2 and Xbox owners didn't. Blame Microsoft.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:31 AM
@12 i only meant for this game when i said xbox doesn't do cross-platform play, although i didn't know that those two games had or have ever heard of them @13 no i havent heard of itSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:31 AM
Ok since everyone is asking why there is no cross-platform play with the 360, here is the reason. Steamworks. MS is not allowing Steamworks interation on Xbox LIVE. And that is how Valve will be doing cross-platform play between the PC, Mac, and PS3. It has nothing to do with controller vs KB/M. And the reason Universe at War and Shadowrun had cross-platform play is because of GFWL, which allowed it. Obviously this game does not support GFWL.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 11:06 AM
can we still run faster with a knife?Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 11:17 AM
'll stick with current gen shooters.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 11:42 AM
"AWP WHORE"Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 11:45 AM
@32 cods 4 lifesSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 11:52 AM
I was hoping they'd keep it like it looked originally. It doesn't even look like CS anymore....The best thing about the game was how simple it was.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 12:03 PM
This game is what made FPS Major League gaming, this game is what started great online experiences through the FPS genre, children don't realize that this game isn't like your other games, finding a game on Counter Strike with noobs isn't easy, nearly everyone who plays it is a veteran gamer. If you were to face off the best of let's say, Call of Duty against the best of Counter Strike, the Cod players would rage quit in the first five minutes. Cod plays itself, it's rare you'll find someone half way decent, it's just the facts.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 12:05 PM
The previous post I made was too all the blatent Cod fanboys who are tearing at this game.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 12:05 PM
Gonna be amazing!Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 12:06 PM
Cant wait, will be picking it up for xbl and pc. CS has always been a solid barebones shooter to me, that doesn't need all the bells and whistles to try to sell itself. If its not broke don't fix it. It still looks pretty close to cs base just 12 years later.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 12:46 PM
looks so goooood cant not waitSunday, August 28, 2011 @ 03:39 PM
To everyone who is saying that it doesnt look "counter strikey". Its not 2004 anymore, we are in 2011 and technology has improved. Game engines are changing. Anything that Valve do can only be good. Their games are amazing. Also, lets hope there will be surf maps :)Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 03:50 PM
@36 This is the truth. Most CoD players are 12 year old idiots who scream and shout into mics and annoy everyone and wouldn't last a minute in a CounterStrike match.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 04:13 PM
Never thought I'd see the day something like this would hit 360! As much as I loved CS in its various incarnations on PC, I doubt it will really work as a console game. One huge plus point: All the 12-year-old "leet" idiots might stop polluting CoD and Halo servers with their high-pitched abuse-fests and fun might be had.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 04:25 PM
Well regardless if Steamworks doesn't get enabled on Xbox, I'm still getting both versions regardless. One for the PC Valve collection and the Xbox version for achievements. Definitely agreeing with #36, every time I enter a CS or CSS match I'm always running into really good players. The fact that games like Call of Duty ripped off CS's bomb defuse mode (search and destroy) never exactly made me happy. I would assume that most people on COD never knew where search came from and would probably look at CS as some dumb simple shooter. Well guys you are playing Search and Destroy because of this game for it was the game that made bomb defuse popular in the gaming world. As a Half Life 2 Deathmatch veteran from 2008, I know for a fact that Valve is going to pull this off. I was really disappointed with the Left 4 Dead series. But this is Counter Strike, but better and I believe Valve and their dedicated programmers will pull it off.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 05:44 PM
More to this cross platform thing seems gabe being arguing for months with ms about it ,so much gabe told the devs keep the code in there just in case,he could get them to change there minds,for keyboard mouse support, just ms is not allowing it!!!!! :( so its been disabled ,,nothing about steam tho anyone else here anything more ????Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 08:45 PM
Games not that cool. Headshots are retarded in counter strike. I did like buying guns and the game modes it had.Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 10:02 PM
@7 lemme guess, you play cod?Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 11:29 PM
Molotov in the gear buy menu at 0:31... i guess we will be seeing random tank spawns in the middle of de_dust.Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 12:12 AM
PSN gets to play with pc and we dont? why???Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 12:23 AM
@5 you'd be suprised at how many people use the xbox 360 wired controller for CS on the pc! I use my 360 wired for everything on the pc using pinnacle(works with 360,ps3 and wii controllers) and I can say I do more than above average against mouse and keyboard purists lolMonday, August 29, 2011 @ 12:28 AM
@8 MS has good reasons to be against cross platform play, look what happened to PSN when portal 2 was releasedMonday, August 29, 2011 @ 01:45 AM
Love CS, when my younger brother saw the trailer he thought it was COD. Loved the trailer though.Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 04:04 AM
This is XBLA? I've played Counter Strike, back in the day. I've never been a big PC gamer. Looks promising though. I remember all of my friends in high school playing Counter Strike for hours and hours.Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 04:51 AM
I wasted many many years with this beautiful game ! Glad to see its back !!! ( since i stopped pc gaming ) Def. going to get it !Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 08:04 AM
I was under the impression cross-platform was only PC/Mac/PS3Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 09:17 AM
Valve = must buy. It's the game play that will count, not graphics, can't wait for a demo. Now if they include some way to launch toilets I would be a happy happy puppy. :-)Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 10:18 AM
Honestly, I've never gotten to play counterstrike because I was a little too young at the time it was popular, but from what I hear, it's an amazing game. I guess in 2012, I'll get to see just how it achieved its legendary status.Monday, August 29, 2011 @ 02:23 PM
http://youtu.be/axcSrt7cBGc more info there been a interviewMonday, August 29, 2011 @ 04:17 PM
Loos shit, but what do you expect from such an old games. They think that upgrading graphics to HD and adding some new stuff is enough to sell... And they are probably right, seeing ppl these days spend money by buckloads on games and such... LOL - passTuesday, August 30, 2011 @ 01:53 AM
I played the original beta's of CS like nobodies business. Will probably pick this up if it's $15 (or on sale). Don't think I'll bite if they try to push $20 though.

In case you're not already aware (where the hell have you been?!) Valve and developer Hidden Path are bringing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to consoles next year, seeing the return of classic maps like de_dust and that Aztec temple one, alongside new maps, new modes, new weapons and other new stuff.
Following Friday's debut trailer, a set of new screenshots have emerged too, showing off the game's new HD textures and visual refinements in a little more detail.
You can check out all seven screenshots in the gallery and check out the debut trailer again below, just in case you missed it. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is coming to XBLA in 2012.
