The original Driver is a game that holds a special place in the collective hearts of a lot of gamers of a certain age, bringing seminal '70s car chase movies to startling life for the first time in a video game. However, the series was quick to go into decline with some fairly shoddy sequels, which meant going back to the drawing board.
For Driver: San Francisco, developer Reflections has introduced the new 'Shift' mechanic, enabling Tanner to jump from car to car in the blink of an eye. It's hung on a pretty flimsy narrative conceit with Tanner actually in a coma, but from a gameplay perspective, it should work. But does it work or is it just too silly to swallow?
