Gaming hardware firm Razer has announced a program during TGS 2011 to co-develop the ultimate arcade stick - currently at the prototype stage - for the Xbox 360 with the help of the arcade stick community. The arcade stick will be developed with feedback from pro-gamers, including over 200 top-seed Street Fighter IV pros, modders, and members of the arcade enthusiast community, each of whom will get a Razer arcade stick to test and improve, with the ultimate refined model going into production.
“Razer is for gamers, by gamers. We’ve been taking feedback from our professional players on products for years and now we want to open it up to the community. That’s why we want every arcade enthusiast and modder’s input in the development of this special arcade stick,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President, Razer USA. “In this way, it’s not just our arcade stick; it’s the community’s arcade stick. Together, we will create a weapon that delivers the best fighting performance for every gamer and allows modding to the individual’s exact specifications. We’re not just asking people for input on the paint job, we’re after serious hardware feedback.”
You can contribute your ideas for the ultimate Xbox 360 arcade stick at www.razerzone.com/bredtofight, where you'll need to add a short description stating why you'd be an ideal candidate for the prototype testing, or you can nominate someone else you know. Then 200+ successful applicants worldwide will be sent an arcade stick prototype delivered to their home, where they can then test it to death. Here's a picture of the slinky-looking prototype stick, which has a hinge enabling you to open it up and poke around inside:
