X-Men: Destiny
X-Men: Destiny Trailers Detail a Trio of Heroic and Villainous Powers

Three new trailers for Activision and Silicon Knights' X-RPG X-Men: Destiny have spilled forth today, showing three of the game's character that you'll encounter when playing as one of the three new rookie heroes as part of the story.

It's a trio of on and off heroes and villains, who just can't seem to make their mind up as to whether they're good or evil, with Emma Frost being part of the Hellfire Club before joining the X-Men, Havok dabbling in villainy in the past and Juggernaut simply crushing whatever happens to get in his way.

It turns out that you can essentially steal their core powers for yourself too, with their bespoke X-genes lending you their abilities and even a variation on their costume. It seems like an odd idea to ape another existing hero's powers and outfit, but we assume that it's an optional extra, should you grow tired of your default skill set.

Check out the three trailers and then decide which ones you'd like to try for yourself when X-Men: Destiny releases on September 27th, 2011.

This looks about as cheap as the Batman Imposters game. Sorry, I'll stick to more mainstream titles.

There's no accounting for quality. This game unfortunately appears to have none.

I'll get this when it's cheap as I love Marvel but agree it looks shoddy. The new spiderman game, however, is shaping up nicely!

EXCELSIOR!

i was excited about this game, but these trailers all essentially being the same, plus the low quality look of the game itself, is making me seriously rethink it.

I'll probably just wait for this to come way down in price. Not only are my next couple months already way too packed with games to play, but I bought Ultimate Alliance 2 a while ago and haven't even started it yet, so I would play that before this.

This game better not be terrible; I pre-ordered it and everything. I mean, the concept and everything is fun. I'm just hoping that this game will surprise everyone in terms of gameplay.

Juggernaut isn't a mutant. Therefore no "X-Gene" to steal/copy. Strike 1.

This is falling way short of what I had expected it to be. Someone needs to get up and pay Raven a buttload of money to make X-Men Legends 3. Now THOSE were X-Men games.

Why is that every power looks exactly the same in everything they show about this game? Every single one of those powers shows the protagonist simultaneously having the "rock arms" power that they showed off initially. Why would someone with Havok's powers have rock arms? And since when does Juggernaut throw fireballs?

Ugh. This game had so much promise. A 3rd person action RPG set in the X-Men universe would be great if it was handled with care (I'm imaging a game world as rich as Mass Effect with just as much action and character customization) but this looks cheap and appears to play incredibly repetitively. I may rent it if it gets half decent reviews some time when I'm bored just because I love the X-Men, but somehow I don't think this will come out of nowhere and blow everyone's minds.

I've watched all the trailers, and I still have no f-ing clue what this game is about...

That being said, it looks like shit. Unless it's got some sort of ace up it's sleeve I believe I'll pass...

Got to play this at GameFest and it reminded me of X-Men Origins which I loved :) Looking forward to it!

@ 16 - This always bothered me as well. Much as I love Mr. Marko, he's ALWAYS been practically Magneto's right hand man in the Brotherhood of Mutants. His power comes from the crystal of cyttorek. I've always thought about justifying it as Magneto sympathizing with Marko on his hatred for his step-brother, Xavier.
