Rocksmith Delayed Until 2012 In Europe

Ubisoft have announced via their Rocksmith Facebook fan page that their hardcore musical game will not see light of day in Europe until 2012.

“Rocksmith will not be available in Europe until 2012,” says the post, stating that it’s down to “music licensing and other external factors.”

No loss, right? You can import... well, do so “at your own risk” warns Ubisoft. According to the post, the Xbox 360 version of the game will be region locked, the PS3 version won’t be, but won’t support PAL, while nothing that the PSN store is region locked, meaning you won’t be able to download the DLC outside of your region.

At least those looking forward to it in Europe have more than a handful of triple-A games to tide them over for the rest of 2011.

  • Really looking forward for this one, might be a nice tool to remove the dust from my old Squier and somewhat improve my skills... the wait will be useful to check out reviews and opinions :)
  • I'll be honest, I'm here in the US, but that news is a little disappointing. gotta love licensing.
  • I may live in the US, but that's a bunch of bull for the rest of the World. I have a friend in Australia that has been wanting to play this game since it was announced & now he's got at least another 6 months. If the game is not ready for everyone, delaying it would not hurt it. BUT, if the game is'nt as good as the hope, sales of the future release will suffer.
  • Well, that gives me plenty of time to install my pick up onto my acoustic guitar!
  • dammit i'd already pre-ordered
  • That really sucks, i've been looking forward to this coming out and seeing if it's better than pro guitar. Still enjoying playing with the mustang but it will be interesting to see how resposive and easy it is to learn songs on Rocksmith. I just got my first guitar fixed aswell :(
  • Well... gives me time to save up for a guitar now... I just was hoping to get this for Christmas... fucking region bullshit....
  • Axe this franchise now, its shit, too much money spent on these shitty games, it should be getting spent on developing new games not this shit.
  • They can delay it all they want, but that won't change the fact that this game is destined to bomb whenever it does release.
  • @8 Yeah axe this franchise now! Because we have too many games like this one! Like... and... but we can't forget... oh wait we have nothing like this. Name me all the other games where play using a real guitar. This is a new game they developed, so quit bitching just because you don't like something. Companies make what they think will sell, and this probably will. Oh no it's another game with instruments, so it must be the same!! I suppose Gears of War 3 and Forza Motorsport 4 are the same since they both have music in them, aren't they?
  • @8 you do realise that this isn't just another guitar hero/rock band clone right? chords are made by making the right shapes at the right frets on the right strings, not just pressing the blue and red buttons and moving a toggle switch? so you actually need to/have willing to learn how to handle a real 6 string, (and maybe bass? does it support bass to?) so wanting to axe this 'shitty franchise' that hasn't even had the chance to show it's true colours yet is a bit to much to say right now, if, when it finally does arrive and turns out to be a pile of shite, i'll apologise then, but until then, lets hold judgement on things no one has played yet...
  • @3 You do realise that Australia isn't in Europe don't you
  • @11 Even if it's a pile of shit don't apologize, he's a dumbass for thinking without it ever being released that it's gonna suck @12 Didn't you hear? The leader of Australia and members of the EU got wasted last Friday and accidently signed Australia into the EU in an irreversible contract, thus making it officially part of Europe, though being on the other side of the world.
  • @13 good point, no apologies for him, was just being diplomatic, and about australia, yeah, sounds like something brussels would do, rip off another island state to line their pockets a bit more, they're retarted enough to think anyone living on the moon of jupiter could be part of the EU...
  • Isn't this because they are infringing on the copyrights of a band called rocksmith.
  • i really dont wanna play this game anyway. it looks stupid
  • @15 I think so. Still even if the name of the game was changed I'd still buy it. But Ubisoft should have looked into gloabal trademarks before naming the game. To be honest, they could have gotten away with 'Rocksmiths' or some minor edit...
  • @17 When they register the trademark rocksmith should they not have been told that its already owned by someone?
  • If they register it in the US I don't think it would bring up the UK bands use of the name. I'm not 100% sure what happened, but I know there is a band who already used the name somewhere in England...
  • *darth vader voice* NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo! That sums it up.
  • This actually kinda sucks. :
  • i need a us console.
  • Damn i was seriously thinking of getting this ah well gives me time to get a guitar i guess :)
  • @#10 Rock band 3 lets you play real guitar! The only difference is this game uses any guitar where RB3 require you to buy a special one.
  • I suppose it gives me time to get a decent guitar haha Hope they don't screw us over and sell just the game seperate from then connector
  • wow i'm just distraught...
  • wow that sucks ass. But at least NA is on time...I raged when I saw the title, but then was relieved it's only Europe....Europeans get the shaft sometimes :(
  • @24 Does the RB3 Pro Guitar have 6 full length strings? No. I can tell you that even though the Pro Guitar is close to a real guitar, and is as close as video games have gotten, learning one will not teach you the other. My brother is amazing at guitar and can't play the pro or regular RB guitars for shit. It's a lot different having separate buttons or one fluid string across the whole neck.
  • #29 actually it does. The squier or however you spell it is a full size guitar capable of real life in-amp play and play in rb3
  • #10#11 Ill say again axe this shit now, waste of time and 99% of people cant afford a real guitar you jumped up little posho, so yes this game will fail maybe 1 more game after this 1 and thats about it.
  • @31 clearly as you can see the future, can i borrow you're powers to tell me what halo 4 will be like? use you powers for good rather than moronic opinions on something no one actually knows... by axing this now, what will happen is that the talents of god knows how many coders, developers, testers and the like will have gone to waste, the money paid to them for doing their job will then actually be wasted in effect, all on the opinion of what? you? oh grand clairvoyant! we are so not worthy! christ sakes, you don't like it, fair dues, i'm not a big fan of Forza, i'm not swearing about it and saying it'll fail, cause basically it won't, it's great, just not for me. so hows about it actually gets reviewed by professionals and see how that goes, can't say fairer than that.
  • @31. Ever hear of thrift stores or even Cash Converter? I see Les Pauls in them constantly for around £30 and just standard eletrics for £20. I even saw an Electro Acoustic for £9.99 once. Guitars range in price from pocket cash to 'fuck me I need a mew mortgage', theyre not all expensive. Most of the people who get this will most likely already have a guitar or be looking to buy one anyway. This game is NOT a party guitar game, it was made to teach people how to play guitar. There isn't really any point to release a sequel, just DLC for new songs to learn, maybe add-on discs. That's it.
