Is Soul Calibur V to Guest Star Assassin's Creed's Ezio?

According to an anonymous tipster over on Joystiq, who provided the image below, supposedly taken from a beta version of Soul Calibur V shown recently at a fighting game tournament, Assassin's Creed's Ezio Auditore could be filling a guest slot in the game, as he's shown on the character select screen brandishing his trademark hidden blade.

If the screenshot is genuine - and we're thinking it most probably isn't - then Ezio Auditore de Firenze will be taking a break from killing Templars during the Italian Renaissance to battle for the fabled Calibur and Soul Edge. A closer look at the screenshot however leads us to believe that it might be a photoshopped fake.

For one, the Ezio character portrait in the red box looks like an action figure rather than an in-game model, whereas the layout of the screen just looks like a complete mess. It's worth remembering however, that Ubisoft has published a Soul Calibur game in the past, with Broken Destiny for PSP, so the possibility of Ezio coming to Soul Calibur V seems perfectly legitimate.

And we reckon the debonaire assassino would be a perfect fit for the game. Take a look at the screen grab below, and make up your own mind. Soul Calibur V is out in March 2012.
