  1. Thanks! From the way people were talking about it, I was thinking 100-200 hours. 70 hours is (relatively) short.
  2. The roadmap says 40-50 hours, but based on the comments that can't be right... can it?
  3. Same thing here; I couldn't get over how dumb she was.
  4. The multiplayer is IMO brilliant; even the "single player" is essentially multiplayer. The only quibbles I have are relatively minor: I wish there was a huge wide-open mountain to chill on (the tracks are all fairly cluttered), the characters have virtually no personality compared to the earlier entries, and the music restarts whenever you drop, which gets really annoying as you get further into the game. So not perfect, but great nonetheless.
  5. It especially needs Song for Dot by Space Raiders... they should have that in EVERY SSX. Er, I think I just gave away my age.
  6. Okay, the specific tracks range from great to mediocre, and you can import your own track list which fixes that even if you don't like the choices, but the song selection shuffles whenever you restart a level - which drives me NUTS! I've been trying to get golds/no gear/etc and need to restart a lot, the end result of which is that I just end up with a ton of short snippets of noise over and over and over again... so I either use the default 360 music player, or limit the SSX tracklist to one song that I chill on until I get my gold. All they needed to do was have the tracks continue if you redrop. Such a simple solution. Does this bother anyone else?
  7. Actually, you CAN do it in Global... that's how I got mine.
  8. Same question here.
  9. I.... I don't understand. That's not throwing underhand at all! and throwing underhand is the best way to improve your aim! Thank you so, so much. I was finally able to get past the @#$% throwing parts. And I can't wait to tell my daughter - she spent an hour trying to figure out how to throw (she's 6, and very patient).
  10. It's like Zaxxon - you control the bird in two dimensions, side-to-side and up and down. Keep moving up & down and side-to-side (in a giant oval) grabbing pick-ups as you go and it'll make it much harder for the off-screen shots to hit you. As for the sphinxes, I never actually figured out why sometimes he dies in five hits and sometimes it takes 100, but just be patient, duck in to shoot him in the face when you have the chance, and you should be good. Also, for me there was a huge amount of luck, but like I mentioned above you just need to get a bit past the 2nd sphinx to get gold points.

Well yeah, you can hack all the achievements for everything, but that kinda defeats the purpose. It sucks to get stuck with unachievable achievements, but that's how the metagame works.
  12. So, figured as long as I was going to grind a bunch of these out I might as well try to help fill in the holes in the chart while I was doing it. Here's what I have so far: Bowling - Point Buster & Survivalist n/a - Time Spender Bronze: 30 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 120 minutes A casual game, only time spender medals Desert Falcon - Point Buster Bronze: 5K, Silver: 10K, Gold: 15K - Survivalist Bronze: 1 minutes, Silver: 2 minutes, Gold: 4 minutes - Time Spender Bronze: 30 minutes, Silver: 45 minutes, Gold: 60 minutes You should get gold point buster at the beginning of the third board... i.e. after beating two sphinxes. Dolphin - Point Buster & Survivalist (already on chart) - Time Spender Bronze: 45 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes Flak Attack - Point Buster Bronze: 15K, Silver: ?, Gold: ? - Survivalist Bronze: 2 minutes, Silver: 4 minutes, Gold: ? - Time Spender Bronze: 45 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes Ugh, this was the kind of grossly unfair SHMUP I grew up on and the reason I generally avoid them. 30 minutes playing it and I still haven't been able to get bronze point buster - or past the 1st level, for that matter. Human Cannonball - Point Buster & Survivalist n/a - Time Spender Bronze: ?, Silver: ?, Gold: ? A casual game, only time spender medals Iron Horse - Point Buster Bronze: 15K, Silver: 30K, Gold: 50K - Survivalist Bronze: 2 minutes, Silver: 3 minutes, Gold: 5 minutes - Time Spender Bronze: 45 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes As someone else mentioned, there's a really easy way to get gold points & survival in one play on this... pick "punch" initially, as it gives you 2x the points. When the game starts go up into the alcove where the first treasure is, face down (out of the tv) and spam punch. Everyone who runs past you should die... stay there until time runs out. Rinse & repeat - voila! Two golds! Konami GT - Point Buster Bronze: 10K, Silver: 35K, Gold: ? - Survivalist Bronze: 3 minutes, Silver: 4 minutes, Gold: ? - Time Spender Bronze: 30 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes A standard racing game, but if you touch anything you explode and lose Pressure Cooker - Point Buster Bronze: 10K, Silver: 15K, Gold: 20K - Survivalist Bronze: 4 minutes, Silver: 7 minutes, Gold: 10 minutes - Time Spender Bronze: 45 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes This game is HARD but addictive... unfortunately the medals are messed up (not glitched, just hard). You're guaranteed get gold survivalist before getting silver point buster, and I played it so much to get that far that it's the only game I've gotten gold time spender on legit. And I still haven't got gold point buster... The Main Event - Point Buster Bronze: 5K, Silver: 12.5K, Gold: 25K - Survivalist Bronze: 1.5 minutes, Silver: 2.5 minutes, Gold: 4 minutes - Time Spender Bronze: 45 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes If you have a turbo controller this is incredibly easy to get gold point buster & survivalist on. Thunder Castle - Point Buster Bronze: 7.5K, Silver: 15K, Gold: 25K - Survivalist Bronze: 10 minutes, Silver: 15 minutes, Gold: 25 minutes - Time Spender Bronze: 30 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes Trick Trap - Point Buster Bronze: 20K, Silver: 40K, Gold: 100K - Survivalist Bronze: 3 minutes, Silver: 4 minutes, Gold: 6 minutes - Time Spender Bronze: 30 minutes, Silver: 60 minutes, Gold: 90 minutes Holy cow this game is great! It's a cross between Contra/Jackal and one of those old top-down semi-JRPGs (like Zelda) and it looks and feels like an old Nintendo game. Definitely worth checking out! Will update this post as I get the rest of the time spender times & DL some more awfulness tomorrow. -Shaftiel Edit: And I'm done. G'bye Game Room!!!
  13. Shinobi's advice above sums up how I did it: you use blades for the fortresses, land on on them, and slash them to pieces. There's a lot of luck involved (for me, at least) because you need to boost to exactly the right place and kill them fast - if you land in the right place and slash they die almost instantly, but if you over/undershoot you get torn to pieces. Specifically for Firefly, when I finally got S I took out the fortress on your side then skirted the left side of the map so I approached the ones across the river from their left flank - that way they were all lined up in front of me and the missiles all came from (mostly) the exact same direction instead of a huge fan of death. I ended up using one of them as cover against the others while I was slashing it, but that was mostly luck. Ascension was the same: either you boost directly to them and instantly kill them with blades, or you over/undershoot and get shot to pieces. Again, for me there was a lot of luck in finally nailing them. -Shaftiel
  14. I don't have this anymore, or I'd play through it and give you the S stats, but I seem to remember sketching a map and putting numbers where the spawns were (in order) so I could head to the next as fast as possible after killing each set. Sorry I don't have more to help. -Shaftiel
