II KaotiK
Welcome to the Achievement Guide for; Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers Credit: MLG (Most Likely Gay), Swifty2400, eviltb, fannypack, Jawmuncher, Jimm This is a Arcade Title and ships with the 200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg as per usual, although this might change with the DLC Wizards has planned. The achievements are all fairly simple, and can be unlocked mainly in Single Player, with 150http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg being from Single Player, and the other 50http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg being in Multiplayer. This makes for a total of 12 achievements. This is my first guide, so go easy http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/mt/zl/0YCLiGJhbC9FFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzEAAAAA5+fn-srcgQ==.jpg - The Spark - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Win a game This is pretty self explantory, just win a game. Can be in Single Player campaign mode, or online Multiplayer, whether that be 1v1, or Two Headed Giant. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/L9/XE/04CLiGJhbC9GFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzIAAAAA5+fn-OvVNA==.jpg - Life Preserver - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Increase your life total to 30 or more in single player, or 60 or more in Two-Headed Giant This might sound difficult, but when you consider that you start with 20 life points, it's fairly simple. You want to play lots of instants, that will increase your Life Points. An easy way to get this is by using the default green deck, and playing "Natural Spring" which will give you 8 Life Points. This also coupled with "Wurm Tooth" which gives you 1 extra Life Point every time a player plays a Green spell. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/vC/0k/0oCLiGJhbC9HFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzMAAAAA5+fn-Qstpw==.jpg - Magic: The Puzzling - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Complete a challenge New to this Xbox LIVE Arcade title is a series of in game "challenges". They will see you pitted against a foe with a certain objective, and a certain amount of turns to complete your objective. To get this achievement, just complete one challenge. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/Rc/aG/14CLiGJhbC9AFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzQAAAAA5+fn+KnGXg==.jpg - Devastator - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Deal 20 combat damage to a player in a single turn in a game This achievement is very straight forward. You just need to inflict 20 points of damage to your opponent in one turn. It can be direct damage, Trample damage ect. This can be done in any mode, whether it be Two-Headed Giant, Campaign or Multiplayer. I think the simplest way to do this is, use the pre-built green deck, wait until you get enough Green Mana to play Duskdale Wurm, then next turn, play Blanchwood Armour on it, which will give it at least 14/14. Then if you have Overrun, play that next turn, and you've got a 17/17 monster with Trample. Then just tap everything and play all your attacks. A full list of the decks within the game can be found here. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/1j/5m/1oCLiGJhbC9BFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzUAAAAA5+fn+Uk+zQ==.jpg - Defender of Foriys - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Win a Two-Headed Giant game In Magic: The Gathering, Two-Headed Giant is like the co-op version of the game. To get this achievement, simply win a game of Two-Headed Giant in either offline co-op, or online co-op. If you can't do this, find someone to boost it with online, and you can get the Devastator achievement at the same time, then switch over and let the other person get the achievement. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/Yz/dH/1ICLiGJhbC9CFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzYAAAAA5+fn+2g3eA==.jpg - Spellslinger - 0 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Defeat someone who has earned the Spellslinger achievement This achievement is unlocked by beating someone who has obtained the "Spellsinger" achievement already. To obtain this, just organise a match with someone from Xbox 360 Achievements, or you can just play with people online, and hope to get it. You'll know if a person has it, because there is a picture of the achievement tile before their Gamertag in the match lobby. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/8M/+n/1YCLiGJhbC9DFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzcAAAAA5+fn+ojP6w==.jpg - Duelist - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Win 5 ranked Xbox LIVE matches Fair straight forward, win 5 matches online, and make sure they are RANKED. This also includes Twin-Headed Giant matches, as victories in that game type go towards both players win totals. No real tips here, just play your cards well, and try and keep all your bases covered. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/-t/uA/1oCLiGJhbC9MFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzgAAAAA5+fn+a-b5Q==.jpg- Epic Conclusion - 40 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Defeat Tezzeret in the final single-player campaign battle Fairly straight forward once again, just beat Tezzeret in the campaign mode to unlock this achievement. Tezzeret runs a Blue/Black Mana deck. The Blue deck was really good for countering the million Artifacts he seems to have. You could then use the few flying creatures you have to peck away at his health, but if he has his cards out that lets him tap two lands and get 1 LP for each time he does it, just give up. The white deck worked well, and I played him again using the White and Blue decks and won it easier with the White. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/bS/Ng/14CLiGJhbC9NFQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wLzkAAAAA5+fn+E8jdg==.jpg- Puzzling Master - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Complete all challenges Again, another straight forward achievement. Just finish all the Puzzle Challenges that you can do, and you will unlock the achievement. A guide to completing the challenges can be found here. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/ij/8f/14CLiGJhbC83FQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wL0MAAAAA5+fn+DA-kQ==.jpg-%20Master%20of%20Artifice http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/rM/7e/1ICLiGJhbC81FQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wL0EAAAAA5+fn+-HOtw==.jpg - Masters of Artifice10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Defeat Tezzeret & Tezzeret in the cooperative campaign This is an offline achievement. You need two controls to do this, and you just need to play through the whole Co-op campaign. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/Gc/f-/1oCLiGJhbC82FQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wL0IAAAAA5+fn+dDHAg==.jpg - Duels Master - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Win 10 Xbox LIVE matches Same as for the achievement "Duelist" but, win 5 more online matches. This doesn't have to be Ranked only. It can be a mix of Ranked, Player and Twin-Headed Giant. Just keep playing and you will get this eventually. If not, use the Achievement Trading Thread and find a boosting partner and set up wins online. http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/ij/8f/14CLiGJhbC83FQUXXFJRFzYwL2FjaC8wL0MAAAAA5+fn+DA-kQ==.jpg- Planeswalker - 30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Unlock 100% As the achievement description states, unlock everything 100% and you will get this achievement. This includes; Single Player Campaign, Online achievements, unlocking all the cards, getting the "Spellsinger" achievement, getting all the new decks. II KaotiK
Nice guide. White might also be good for life gain. yeah, i still run my old white deck. Does pretty good. Got a signed card in there from Tom Wanerstrand. Also got Extraplanar Lense. Such a good land card. Any suggestions for my guide? Thanks for your comment, too ~Bryce
Swifty2400
Nice guide so far. For the Devastator achievement, a green deck might work to. From what I've read about prebuilt green deck in the game, there are creatures with trample in the deck and ways to buff them up, so using them might help you get 20 points of damage in one attack. Yeah, I read that about the trample and stuff. But I didn't know sorta the Attack and Defense of the monsters, so yeah. I will chuck that in there though. eviltb
For the 20 point one, this basically means "cast a fireball with arse loads of mana", so use the red deck Tezzeret is blue/black Nissa is green/black Ajani is red/white/green For the life gain, yes its proably easier to use the White deck. Play Angels Feather, then play lots of White spells. Things like Venerable Monk/Soul Warden and blocking with Goldenglow Monk will help with this. source - http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1170967

Such good good cards. My Direct Damage deck loves them ~Bryce
eviltb
yes but the cheev says combat damage, not direct damage. So its damage with creatures Im afraid and I very much doubt you could get 20 dmg in one hit with soley red creatures!

Enrage would still work, because you are casting the instance onto the summon creature. Thanks eviltb, your a champ. Tez is male I believe! Just trying to help Thanks for that ~Bryce Edited June 19, 2009 by II KaotiK

the Capricorn
Pretty sure he is, it looked like all of the Planeswalkers save for some Alara block ones, and Bolas. Jace is one of the original Lorwyn planeswalker cards, btw Looking forward to seeing what Liliana Vess has in store, myself.

the Capricorn
I'm sure after the first game with Garruk, the words "Giant" and "Growth" are going to become very, very irritating.
Daftmouse
Once someone gets a chance to find out, does the opponents life total need to be 20+ in order for you to get the 20 damage one?
the Capricorn
Unlikely. 20 damage is 20 damage, regardless of their life total. I've never known M:TG to frown upon overkill.
II KaotiK
Once someone gets a chance to find out, does the opponents life total need to be 20+ in order for you to get the 20 damage one? No, you don't. You just need to inflict 20 damage at one set time. It doesn't matter if it's when they have 1 LP left or 21 LP. ~Bryce
Jawmuncher
For the 10 wins I thought it didn't have to be ranked. Someone told me it could be 5 ranked than 5 player
II KaotiK
For the 10 wins I thought it didn't have to be ranked. Someone told me it could be 5 ranked than 5 player I've played one Ranked match, and I got "The Spark" achievement, for winning one game. So I am not sure. Although, "Duelist" has "Win 5 Ranked Xbox LIVE Matches" and "Duelist Elite" just says "Win 10 Xbox LIVE Matches". So I'll put that in there. Thanks ~Bryce
