knightdedede
Weapon & Raw Material FAQ by: Dedemaru The purpose of the FAQ is to help people upgrade all of their weapons. As you may know, there are three weapon types: One-handed swords, Two-handed swords and Spears. You can upgrade you're weapons at "Two Brothers Weaponry" in the Junk Heap. Each individual weapon upgrade costs 1,000 gold and a large quantity of materials. Some materials are more rare than others. The first half of this guide will tell you all of the material types you'll require and how many of each item. Nier has a lot of random crap in it. I made this guide so people can decide what raw materials to keep, how many, and what to sell for profit. The categories I have each materials listed in do not exist in the game. They were created by me for organization. I will eventually be adding as many item locations as possible. Though most stuff is random, some things can be found in certain places. The second half of this guide will tell you the name of each weapon, the materials needed to upgrade it (and their quantities), and eventually the weapons locations (when I finish the game). NOTE: I'd like to include that words like "mahes", "mahira", etc. increase the item drop rate percentage. With words like those on your primary weapons or magic, you can increase the rate of finding some of these harder to find materials. Please enjoy. Respond with any questions, comments or corrections. I recommend printing out this list, or making a Word file using it. That'll make things easier to keep track of how much you need of a certain material, etc. It will also help you keep track of what you can sell for profit. Keep in mind, a lot of these items can be found in the Junk Heap. However, the Junk Heap becomes much more profitable in Part II. So if you're spamming the Junk Heap and leaving disappointed, just wait 'till you get to Part II before you lose hope and throw a hissy fit. knightdedede
Weapon FAQ Aside from a some of the first weapons in the game, most weapons can either be bought at the Blacksmith, found in a box in a dungeon or given to you by nobility. The most expensive weapon is around 32,000 gold. Not too bad. Here is a list of the games thirty weapons, where to find them and how to upgrade them. NOTE: Most of the weapons can't really be missed. If you forget to pick up a weapon or just flat out miss one, don't fret. Almost all weapons are for sale in the second half of the game. Just look around at the different blacksmiths. knightdedede
Well, there you go folks. Enjoy. Any questions or comments, please reply. Any additions, reply and I'll add them. I'll be adding the locations for raw materials ASAP.
PeRFeCK
awesome work! its too bad more people aren't showing their appreciation... but i definitely wish i had this information before i started the game. not that it's required, but a weapon faq might also include the location of the weapons (probably the most requested piece of information at this point). if you need help i can probably help you piece together information from a few other forums until a complete list is gathered. evllmatt9
Im extremely appreciative of this, fantastic work. Last 2 endings are all I need other than the three upgrade chieves, and theres no doubt this will get me there much much faster. Thanks!
evllmatt9
also, if "man of means" is still needed itd be easiest to: -collect all materials/cash needed for upgrades -make a save file -buy/upgrade all weapons -when achievements pop immediately load dashboard -load save file, sell all materials towards man of means alot of those materials such as crystal, some alloys, pearls etc are worth quite a bit of money to just use up. PeRFeCK
well...you could gather all the resources first. the man of means achievement takes about 3-4 hours max doing my method, where as getting the all weapons upgraded achievement will take at least 20, if not much more (depending how lucky you are). that being said, i think most people would get man of means and then decide if they are up to getting the final weapon upgrade achievements, not the other way around. your idea works great should help people that know they are going for 1k, but its a little harder to pull of realistically imo. knightdedede
great work, and your faq's are now referenced/'linked to' multiple times in the guide. Great, I appreciate that. I initially wanted to make an achievement guide for this game, but it seems you beat me to it. So I thought I could add any amount of new details to help people out. XCVii 007
Yo, Jack Sparrow only has one Black Pearl. I need 14 more BTW, I made an excel sheet of the items needed and the quantity. I dunno how to upload it, I don't think it's needed though, anyone can make it fairly quickly. It helps in determining how many of each item you need remaining, and the cost needed (if bought from the shops). I'm thinking of just obtaining all the materials, save, and upgrade them all at once, and then reload the save. You never know what items you may need for the DLC. PeRFeCK
You never know what items you may need for the DLC. wow, now that's using the ol noggin! i swear if the dlc has us upgrading weapons...i'll disown it, and pretend it never existed

Forsaken_Son
Great information! It really has helped a lot. I have a couple questions though. I'm trying to get the Labyrinth's Whisper and the Labyrinth's Song, but I'm having a bit of trouble with them. Where do you get the quest "A Bridge in Peril" for the Whisper? Also, is the "Disturbing the Sleep of Kings" quest only available after completing the Facade section in Part II? I've been trying to track these down, but they are not to be found! Thanks for any help given!
PeRFeCK
to get the quest from the king of facade, you need to get the facade key piece in part 2 yes. in addition, there is a pre-req quest which has you clean out barren temple given by one of the guards at the entrance of facade. knightdedede
You'll have access to the "A Bridge in Peril" quest once you grab the stone fragment from the Lost Shrine. Back in the Village, the guard at the Northern Plains' gate has the mission for you. It's an easy task. A boss shade is hiding out in the Northern Plains. Take him down and he'll drop both the Labyrinth's Whisper and the word "Ashurka", which gives you a +8% Physical Defense and the magic Weaken. However, he isn't always out there. You have to keep checking until you finally encounter him. It's completely random. I suggest checking as much as possible. You won't know until you enter the Northern Plains and make your way towards the bridge to cross over the ravine. Once you come close to it, a boss meter should appear. If that doesn't happen, leave and try again. The Labyrinth's Song comes from the King of Facade. After you get the final stone fragment and complete the key to the Shadowlord's castle, return to Facade (The final stone shard will require you to go to Facade, so you won't be far from there when you do retrieve the key). Walk into Facade and turn around. One of the guards wants you to take care of some thieves in the Barren Temple. Accept the quest "A Shade Entombed", and make your way there. It seems some shades have been released into the temple. Fight your way through all of the rooms again and complete some more god damn trials (though easier ones). Once you get to a long hallway with a boss, fight him (he'll drop "Paho", +8% Attack Power) and walk to a thieves body in the background to teleport out of the temple. Return and speak with the King. He'll give you the "Disturbing the Sleep of Kings" quest. Return to Barren Temple and clear out any remaining shades. It won't be a problem at all. When you defeat the final, big shade in the temple, you'll be transported back to Facade and will receive the Labyrinth's Song and the word "Konkarr", which gives you +20% Magic Defense. I'd like to point out that these two Facade quests are a great way to obtain some simple machines, complex machines, and elaborate machines. As is the quest for the Labyrinth's Shout, "The Damaged Map"

Forsaken_Son
Thanks PeRFeCK and knightdedede. I suppose I should have looked around after finishing the Facade section on Part II, but the ending was right there! It compelled me to continue! Somehow I also always missed that guard too for the "A Bridge in Peril" quest. I guess since I always came from the library and jumped down the cliff, I was always near the gate and never near the guard. Ah well, heh. Thanks again! PeRFeCK
Your guide says you need 20 Gold Ores but I had 20 and when upgrading I was short some about 2 so maybe its 22 Gold Ores? Or I've gone doolally with all the item grinding D:< Is it possible a quest required 2 gold ore and you lost it then? Shaman shades are those armourless tall skinny ones that seem to have hips and to cool gestures when firing magic right? xD Never heard them called that but yes, there are 4 of them in the northern plains. Wagram
Ok I have just tested a method for power farming Memory Alloy. I can say it WORKS like a damn charm. I farmed them for about 6 hours after you get to the VERY end of the game before the end of no return. You will get more Titanium than Memory. But remember that part in the story where you HAD to get Memory? Well the roles here are reversed, the game will drop more Memory over Titanium. Oh boy i'm glad I farmed for 6 hours >!<!>!<!
