Achievement Guide

problem is, most of the achievements in this game are all linked to other ones.

all the combo cards achies are linked to the full deck achievement.

the novalty achie is needed for the melee achie

the range achie is needed for the gun achie

the gun achie is need for the novalty

etc etc etc...

so linking all to the one major achievement seems the most smartest thing to do.

im all for critisum, but i perfer suggestions =P

and besides, the methods ive put in so far, are the quickest and easiest way to get the achievements, and isnt that what a guide is for?

No. A guide is for guidance, you should be giving pointers, explaining things that can go wrong and how to avoid them, etc.

The example I gave I thought would be poignant enough, saying "Go grab the bike and chainsaws" is not enough to guide a player through obtaining the achievement. You need to explain how you go about getting the book (do you not need it? Do you play through the storyline using the SUV in your spare time until you can access the bike book? Or are you in fact better off just solely using the SUV from the word go?)

That's why I said stop trying to rush, and take as much time as it takes. The forum isn't going anywhere, and the game doesnt hit US stores until tuesday. So there is plennnnnty of time :)

the 2 bikes im refuring to are both spotted during the cutscene to do with leon, so the player should know where they are after that, so its kind of pointless going, oh you see the 2 bikes during leons cutscences and spawn next to them after the cutscene, but just incase there located either end of the strip is kinda a waste of time typing.

i wanna finish this guide tonight so i can do the 3rd thing im working on 2moz.

That's cool then, I won't bother trying to give feedback if you refuse to even read the posts :)

The only thing I didn't mention were the two bikes, but everything else that is left vague, and my point extends to more than just the one achievement. I love the internet sometimes, people read precisely what they want to regardless of what it was you actually wrote :)

the thing your complaing about is that im not sayin exactly where an items is. what would you like me to do, come round your house and get the achievement for you?

and id love to know where you got the hole SUV thing from.

my capture monitor's cable just broke.

Did your shift key break too? Seriously, it is not that difficult to start each sentence with a capital letter.

Your attitude needs adjusting. Seems you have no concern about the quality of the guide. 'The A Drain' has said it, but I'll reiterate. There is no point rushing the guide! Someone will inevitably post a more concise guide and all your 'effort' will have been for nothing. Either take the time to do it right, or don't do it at all. Detail is everything.

You should have really took your time with your guide mate, I bet next week there will be a better put together guide posted.

No jinxing ;) The game comes out in the US in a couple of days.

mmartynn I only want to point out, by releasing a guide this early with low amounts of details and no achievement pictures is exactly why people are being so negative about it. What you want to do is get a good amount of the guide done and post it all at once so no one has anything to complain about. The roadmap was a good start, but above that you will want to put "Guide in progress" in bigger letters and a bright color so everyone knows it's something you're working on. I usually like to put what I'm working on too, so people know what's in store. Just some advice!

problem is tho, the achievements and pictures are still locked on xbox.com so ive had to type out the achievement names. as soon as they unlock the pictures, im going to add them. and if people had read my prievous posts about the lists of melee weapons taking slightly longer than it should of, theyd realise im a bit behind. another issue is that alot of the achievements are tied to other achievements. so unfortunatly, the guide is full of "please see here" notes. but if i was to remove all them, id just be typing the same stuff over and over.

there are also 2 achievements currently empty due to the fact that i have to write out a seperate guide for them 2 achievements in a different thread.

as ive said before. the guides will all be finished and polished by the USA release. just please be patient

I didn't say you could get the achievement pictures, I was just explaining why people might be a bit negative, it's just a first impression. I still suggest posting the work in progress message above your roadmap if you haven't done that yet.

yeah ive done that. im going to finish the last section of the road map. then bulk out the guide

tell ya what TYGER,

send me a list of what achievements you think need more info to my private message box whilst i finish up the road map, and that should hopefully stop people from whining :)

Well I'll get some sleep and let you do your thing, then I'll check it. I'm sure whatever I looked through would be fixed by the time I woke up anyways.

A few mistakes in the guide:

-Headache: Try and cluster zombies together, then use the stick of dynimite on them to make loads more points, however, if you can get 4 hats on zombies, you will start a multiplier!

-Master Shafter: Get good at button bashing! Seriously good! You should also never join 2 people battling, as you will be unable to make any points.

In headache the dynamite is for "hat removal", you use the dynamite to sabotage other player's zombies with hats. It doesn't give points but denies other players from racking a lot of points.

In Master Shafter it is BEST to join a big group of players, because it gives more points for the kill if you win the struggle. I played Master Shafter about 5-7 times, and i always took the victory. You just need to be careful for what button you press.

Do I really need to re-iterate?

I can't believe you seriously think you can write a 'guide' and not point out the location of a necessary item.

My problem is twofold -

You are dodging the issue. The issue being the lack of guidance in your guide, you say that you can't really do a whole lot more but I find that pretty much insane.

If you hadn't finished it yet I would be more supportive, as was initially the case, but now you say that to post anything more would be holding my hand? What do you think a GUIDE is for?

To clarify, I can get the achievement myself. I don't care how your guide is written, but I feel for all the people who are going to be reading through it.

Now, I was making a point about more than one achievement but you seem to be unable to grasp anything that isn't 100% direct. So I'll give that a try.

What you are telling people -

Go and get the bike keys,

pick up chainsaws and combine them with the bike,

use the bike durability magazine.

Done.

What you neglect to tell them -

The easiest/closest place to find a chainsaw in that location.

The fact that the bike durability magazine is located in the Ranch Casino Vault area.

The fact that this area is LOCKED until a certain storyline mission.

A method for defeating Leon in order to obtain access to the bike workshop.

Those all seem like vital pieces of information to me, and finished/unfinished it makes no difference, you seem to be unable to answer these questions which leads me to the following belief, you:

A) Used the SUV until the Vault room unlocked and are simply assuming that everyone will be able to figure this out

B) Havn't actually done it, and are talking completely out of your arse.

So which is it???

So yeah, all you have done so far is dodge the question under the guide of being "too busy" to answer (despite the high level of forum activity from you) or feigning misunderstanding.

So. If suggesting in a constructive manner some improvements isn't getting through to you, I'll ask you right out. Explain how the hell you managed to get the magazine from a LOCKED room so that other people can follow your achievement guide, or admit that you either used the SUV, or haven't done it and just used information from other forums and/or speculation.

This is the exact reason i stopped making guide everyone asks for one then when some makes an effort to start it, everyone just complains i cant be arsed with the hassle of it anymore

I have made two guides so far, and I have never had any complaints. Then again, my guides were 90% finished when I posted them.

Also, complaining /= criticising. If something isn't right in my guide and they tell me, I'm happy because someone took the time to check it and point out any flaws.

Take this guide for example, the amount of characters he typed out to reply on the 'fix ur grammar' or 'more pointers' posts, could have easily be spent on actually fixing what they 'complained' about and there would be no reason left for them to whine about. :)

In any case, I do want to state that this is a very valiant effort, and if this is his first guide, then he sure has picked one of the harder games. Not to mention that his weapon/clothes/etc list is excellent.

I genuinely hope he succeeds, but I fear that a veteran guidewriter will come by and snatch 'the prize' sooner than later.

@The_a_drain how about you check the guide now and see on a map where the book is. then youll see you dont need the SUV. then go fuck off. im writing this for the community, not to statisfy you..

yes it is a work in progress and yes i know it need a bit more fuckin info. but when im using a 2nd account to see how to unlock the achievements and write about it at the same time, i can only do one achievement at a time.

^^4th guide, but my other 3 were all DLC. this is my first major retail game guide :)

I know where the book is, I know how to get the book, I'm not asking you where the book is.

I'm asking you to put effort into a guide that lots of people who are unable/unwilling to find this stuff out for themselves will read. You seem to be just so incredibly dense when I've asked you (for the benefit of the community, not myself, just to clarify) to explain something which is not immediately obvious, so that people may be able to follow your guide properly.

I'm also calling you the fuck out this time, I don't think you've done this achievement at all, if you had you would be able to explain that you need to play to case 2 of the storyline in order to get the durability magazine, and would be able to confirm/deny whether or not you have enough remaining time to get that many kills using the bike+chainsaws.

You would also be able to point out that there is a chainsaw on the rock stage nearby the Yucatan Casino.

So again, I'll say it. If you havnt done the achievement, don't put up a shitty little summary and then expect people to figure out the actual guide portion for themselves.

Yet another person who can't even read.

I made critical suggestions to begin with, citing potential confusion for readers as a major issue of posting a small (and inaccurate) summary for completing an achievement.

I re-iterated multiple times that I do not need a fucking guide, I'm not pointing this stuff out for my own benefit. I'm calling him out for putting up un-verified information, "it's not finished" is no excuse for telling people to do something and leaving out critical information (for example, you need to play to Case 2 in the storyline in order to access the magazine)

It's not a lot of effort to pop that into your post, if you're not done with an achievements text, then leave it blank until you are. Posting information you haven't verified is complete and utter bullshit. Don't do it.
