Overview:

 

-Estimated achievement difficulty: 7/10

-Approximate amount of time to 1000: 30-50 hours

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 (If you use the Extreme mode glitch)

-Number of missable achievements: None

-Do cheat codes disable achievements?: No Cheats

-Does difficulty affect achievements?: Yes (only Win at Winning though)

-Glitchy achievements: 1 can be. King for a Day didn't unlock immediately. Fix in the guide though

-Unobtainable achievements: None (unless you don't have online pass)

-Extra equipment needed? : Online pass required for some achievements

 

Introduction:

 

Need for Speed: The Run is in the style on the cannonball run in which racers drive across America to compete for first place, stopping at set checkpoints. At certain stages a number are eliminated. The race is from San Francisco to New York. Most of the achievements can be done in around 20 hours, but getting to level 30 will be a bit of a grind.

 

The Run Mode:

 

The Run mode is very straight forward. Playthrough on whichever difficulty you prefer. Once you complete this you will unlock Extreme difficulty and can either go back through it again or just play the last stage to get this. You will also need to beat a friends score for another achievement here.

 

Challenge Mode:

 

Challenge mode is fairly easy in the beginning and gradually gets harder as you progress each one. I would recommend playing through The Run mode first as this unlocks more challenges and I would also play some multiplayer to unlock more cars as this will make it easier. Again you will need to beat a friends score to get an achievement here.

 

Multiplayer:

 

The multiplayer is fairly straight forward. You will need to complete solo and group objectives to unlock new playlists and get some achievements. The most difficult achievement here is getting Bonus Wheel as it requires the bonus wheel at the end of a session to land on a set slot and then on you coming first within the next session. Just needs a bit of practise/luck to get it done.

 

Mop Up:

 

Once you have completed the 3 sections I mentioned above, there will most likely only be leveling left (unless you haven't done Current Events and Show Off which can be done at any stage). Leveling will require some dedication. By this stage I was at level 20 so had the big grind to get to 30. There are threads on leveling with advice under Legendary.

 

Conclusion:

 

The game is not too difficult overall. The main difficulty is just a few challenges and one online achievement. There are some forum posts up for the more difficult challenges if you are still stuck at this stage. Good luck

Extreme is not available from the beginning. You must complete the game on any difficulty setting to unlock it. You can then either replay the whole story on extreme or the easier method is go to Stage Select within the The Run menu and select Stage 10. Playthrough this on whatever difficulty until you get to the last race. Now pause the game and select Gameplay settings and change the difficulty to Extreme. This will restart the race. Complete the race and this unlocks.

Whilst playing through The Run you will see a list of your friends scores. You have to beat the overall time that your top friend has set within any 1 stage to get this. If you do not have any friends playing this then either find one in the achievement trading thread or use a second profile (with gold account) on your own console and friend it. Set a time on any stage with that profile and then beat the time with your main profile. I beat my friends stage score and this didn't pop. I had to quit out and go into Stage Select under The Run menu to get it to unlock

 

It has been reported by DJ SatanUK that the friends profile has to be a gold account for it to put the time on the Autolog.

Within the Xbox Live menu you can press to Create a Playgroup. With this you need to invite a friend. You can create a group of up to 4 (including you). You will then get a group objective to aim for. Complete 5 of these to get the achievement.

When you go into Xbox Live mode you can select a few playlists. Within each of these is a list of objectives. You get a small selection at one time to aim for. When you complete one of them it will usually unlock a new one to aim for. Complete 15 of these over a mix of any playlists you wish and you will get this achievement. The last playlist unlocks when you complete your 15th objective.

When you complete a playlist of races on any online playlist mode you will get to pick the next location of races. Once the votes are done the bonus wheel will spin. At random it may land on "75g achievement for first place session". If you get this then you have to finish first in the session. That means be the highest point scorer by the end of the session, not just in 1 race.

 

If you tie for first place then all players that are in the tie will unlock it. I unlocked this with 2 other racers. All of us had 50 points to tie first

By playing through story challenges and multiplayer achievements you should be around level 20. After that comes the grind. You could just play online if you enjoy it enough or find a challenge to grind through. If you choose to play online then try to find someone to group with as you will get more XP for doing Group Objectives.

Doesn't really need a roadmap. It's basically "play the game". The only issue is the difficult ones like East Coast Gold and the Bonus Wheel achievie.

Will look at doing a roadmap once I have finished the game. I don't know full difficulty or timing yet as I have more to play.

 

Tonight I will start working on my challenges. I will post up the cars I use to get Gold in each race which should help.

So far I can tell you completing The Run mode took around 7-8 hours. Just finished online achievements last night in around 3-4 hours. Challenge mode I am estimating 7-8 hours again as it is just the same tracks as The Run mode. Not sure on the leveling front. I have not experienced much difficulty yet

I only need three more achievements. The bonus wheel achievement is not hard at all. The people who say that are probably the people who get owned in online. The leveling is a pain in the you know what. You can get like 2,000 XP and the bar will barely move. The hardest achievement for me is the east coast gold. One of the races in their is ridiculously hard.

Doing Drive Hard over and over works assuming the traffic is friendly, but it's just a drag. Leave it to EA to make you grind out the last several levels.

Yep Live free or Drive Hard is not just hard its badass especially if you dont have the Porsche 918 RSR or the Sesto Elemento

I haven't set a difficulty yet. I haven't tried with anything other than the Porsche so couldn't say any other way. Maybe playing multiplayer first to unlock the Porsche is the better option there or getting to level 30 and then coming back to do that as the final challenge

just a question, i've had this game for a while now and haven't played yet. and I read the achievement guide where it says that if you don't want to play in Extreme a second time there is a glitch to bypass that.

 

has the glitch been patched yet? cause if so I won't update the game until i get that achievement.
