It has a level up system for both weapons and protagonist himself. While protagonist levelling up is affected by the EXP which can be obtained by finishing missons only, the weapons are upgraded using the in-game currency - 'Credits' which may be obtained both by succesfully finishing the missons and by spending real money (yes it's one of those F2P type games again). The game has two difficulty options: Normal and Hardcore, which do not affect any achievements. This guide is written while getting most of the achievements at Hardcore, though it won't give you any bonuses (such as extra EXP) and without using bought Credits. Most of the achievements are obtainable during the natural progression of the game, though there is some grind to be done. Currently the game is listed at $0.99 in the Windows Phone Marketplace http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7402351/SI/wp7.jpgWP Link First of all, the list of bugs found so far: 1. The game greatly slows down after 1+ hour(s) session. If you noticed any control lags, or protagonist animation flaws (he will be jerking from side to side) just restart the game or maybe even your phone, as you probably will die because of that lags. 2. Protagonist may went outside the map (it is possible while running too close to thin walls) and you ought to restart the misson and lose some credits. 3. While missle drone is summoned you cannot use any other special weapons. This is typical for missle drones only, so don't be surprised that you cannot put you sentry guns while your drone is flying somewhere. 4. If you push the deployed sentry gun it will start sliding, so put them as far as possible so it cannot be affected by you or any of the soldiers. Step 0: know your game basics The game controls are pretty simple and are explained during the tutorial that you cannot skip. The only thing that is not properly explained during the turorial is how to make 'skill shots'. It is related to how fast you swipe your finger across the screen. There is an optimum speed that you must hit. When you begin a swipe to mark an enemy a counter starts, represented by a red and green bar at the top of the screen. If you successfully swipe across an enemy when the red bar intersects with the green, you will land a skill shot that kills the enemy faster and earns you more experience. There are 5 primary weapons, 5 secondary, 4 special and one non-changable type of grenades (frag). Player can have one primary, one secondary and up to 4 special weapons at the time. Primary and secondary weapons have 5 parameters: damage, range, accuracy, fire rate and clip size, which affect different aspects of gameplay. Any of the weapons can be upgraded using the credits. The upgrade price differs from 1000+ credits to 50000+ depending on how far have you gone. The protagonist has 4 primary characteristics: - Armour - Speed - Melee - Gun skill each having 5 levels, upgraded by the skill points. The player starts at level 1 and gets the experience by successfully finishing the missions, each level up gives you one skill point, so the level cap is 21. There is one secondary characteristic called 'Reputation' which significantly affects how much credits will you earn at the end of the mission. There 5 levels of reputation, which can be gained by successfully finishing missions and getting 100% at level completions. If you fail your mission you will lose some credits as well as reputation. There are 5 types of missions with different objectives: - Exterminate X enemies - Escort X soldiers to their destination - Rescue X trapped scientists - Repair X weapon installations - Defend the base and soldiers The X depends only on how far have you gone in the game progression, the further - the larger X is. Some missions have time limit, which can make them really hard to finish. To finish the game you need to capture all the sectors at the global map, by finishing the available missions. Step 1: Capture all the sectors, complete the story The main goal of the game is to capture all available sectors until the final boss is encountered (see the Hero description). The global map consists of 20 areas, capturing each will require you to successfully finish 3-4 missions. So it will take you ~60-70 missions and 9-12 hours. While doing that you will obtain most of the achievements, just don't forget to use your special weapons for corresponding achievements (Gunishment, Rolling Thunder, Forsaken, Armageddon). You can obtain all the mission-related achievements (Guardian, Saviour, Colonel Fix It) during the main course of the game, but remember that you can achieve them in another save slot (the counter is stacked through all of your games) if you have any problems in final missions. Some advices for mission-related achievements: 1. Rescuing scientists should be done early in the game, as this type of missions may become very hard on later missions 2. Repairing weapon installations may be done after finishing the game and upgrading your sentry guns and droids to the maximum. 3. Escorting soldiers may be done any time as this type of missions is pretty easy due to good firepower of soldiers Step 2: Grind credits for 'Pimp My Arsenal' 'Pimp My Arsenal' - is the most time-consuming achievement in the game. It needs to grind around 1-1.2 millions of credits to fully upgrade all of your weapons. Remember that you can continue your missions after finishing the main course of the game. The best mission type for this achievement is 'Defend the base and soldiers', as it will give you 50600 credits for 100% completion of 6-waved level. Keep your reputation at high level and try to get only the defend-type missions (see the 'Pimp My Arsenal' description). Even if you didn't get 21 level ('Elite Soldier') during Step 1, this is where you can fix that. Step 3: Mop up If you missed some type of mission-related or special weapons achievements, simply continue finishing missions after the end credits and achievements will pop-up. If you have problems with difficulty of mission achievements (such as rescuing scientists), simply do that in new save file, as missions will be a lot easier there. 1. Available mission list is totally random and can be rearranged by Signing Out and then loading the save file again. 2. If you don't want to face any difficulties at the further parts of the game, DO NOT choose the Hardcore difficulty. If at the some point of the game you will be offered to switch to 'Hardcore' - DO NOT do that as you won't be able to switch it back to 'Normal' Conclusion Extraction - is great game for its price, yet it's too buggy for now, which won't let you take the best from playing it. The achievements are pretty easy but one of them - 'Pimp My Arsenal' - requires significant amount of time to achieve, though it can be reduced by spending some real money for in-game credits. This is my first guide, so any recommendations or corrections are welcome. Edited October 9, 2012 by MikeRo
