Introduction:

Hey guys,

If you have any questions at all please private message me because I don’t always come back to these on comments. Sorry, but things are always busy.

If you think you can explain something better just send it to me in private message and I’ll put it up.

 

Campaign:

The campaign isn’t that long at all and should only take you 10 to 12 hours to complete it. However, certain achievements will require you to come back to the chapter because some require you to do different things that may affect other achievements.

I would suggest on your first playthrough saving everyone and not killing any humans. This would acquire you to listen to everything correctly, but I’ll explain more on saving D6. Just try your best not to hurt anyone unless forced to and listen to your companion near the end of the game.

Kill 100 of the creepy and deformed creatures that you come across, and there will be a lot. However, you might have to go back to a few chapters to get this one. I got it close to the end though, but I was killing everything in sight my first playthrough.

When you come up behind an enemy you can either knock them out or cut their throat. Choose the latter. Also, it must be 15 in a row!

You’ll need to get yourselves some incendiary grenades for this and you can carry up to five. You’ll notice soldiers standing around talking to each other a lot. Wait until you see a group of 2 or more close enough to each other and throw it in the middle of them.

Just shoot any light bulb you see, but I would suggest doing it with a silencer and with no guards around them so you don’t alert anyone.

Just walk up to a light and hit the action button. You’ll run into quite a few on each level.

You’ll come across a few lines tied with bombs or some gas throughout the game. Just carefully walk up to them and cut the line with the action button.

Finish the ASHES level without taking a hit.

 

Just as it says don’t get hit at all during the Chapter 2. Now, the only time you can get hit is when the watchmen are coming out. Keep your distance as your sniper will help you out a lot on here. Best way to do this is when you come back to the chapter on easy as she took care of most of them for me. Make sure you finish the chapter for the achievement to pop up.

Escape the chasing Nazis on the REICH level without being caught once.

 

To be honest…I don’t even know how you get caught. Pavel just fires a gun in the air and you both start running. The chapter is about 5 minutes long and the only way I see you getting caught is if you stop running and turn around.

At the beginning of "Facility", you'll see some guards fighting, and off to the right, two guards are talking about how one of them has a locked storage cabinet with a Ranger gun inside. If you hide in the right corner, this guard will check the speaker box, then walk down the hall and back to the beginning of the level, unlock his locker, and admire the gun; at this point you can take him out and collect the gun, which pops the Achievement.

I found Scram to be easy even without using the Military Grade ammo (on Ranger Hardcore). Both my AK-74U and my Custom Pistol killed the enemies in about 3 hits a piece. Using a basic red dot sight and making sure I was holding down the while I was facing the rear of the car made it easy to take out the enemies as they came down from the ceiling. The enemies don't spawn when you're near one of the multiple doors you drive by during this time so it's fine if you get out and check the area, then hop back onto the car (dying/reloading checkpoint in these areas is also ok if you didn't screw up before reaching the door).

Just as it says throw five grenades at the shrimp in the swamps to get this. They come out once in a while to spit stuff at you, so it shouldn't be a problem. However, you can only carrier five of the bombs, so make sure they count.

Find and return the crying child’s Teddy Bear.

 

The child will be in Venice around the strip club crying to his mother about losing his teddy bear. He will mention he lost it while at the firing range. Well, the thing is right behind you and cost 20 bullets to play. Kill all the rats three times and not only will you get your money back, but you will also get the teddy bear after the 3rd try.

Just as it says if you are in a swampy area just fall in 10 times, but you will die if you fall in to many times fast. However, even if you die it will still count, so you can just keep falling in and reloading a checkpoint if you want.

Go across the airplane wing before going inside there is a stash against a wall, you can climb across a beam and jump back across safely to get back to the airplane.

On roof of gas station there are pipe bombs (these may not count towards achievement)

 

(not sure how to describe this one) - the other building overcome by shrubs, down the long side of building there is a hole to crouch and go inside of building.

 

2nd Part:

 

First building - in room where you turn lights on

 

Inside the bus on the right side of the map there is a box with some military ammo (might not count)

 

1st time you fight Large Crab/Shrimp guy - in back of truck

 

Building with escalator - Inside bathroom (you will see mask graffiti on wall

 

Across from bathroom there is a room being guarded by 2 or 3 wire explosive traps, inside there is a gun and some ammo/filters

 

Right ouside building with escalator when you go out the window - you will see a truck with the same spray painted mask, it's in the back

 

This popped as soon as I opened the stash in the back of this last truck. I apologize for the descriptions but I was just running around going everyplace I could 2 or 3 times and got lost several times. I hope these locations will at least be familiar to a few people and help them piece things together for the achievement.

Ok, so when you finally get past that group of people and you hear a gunshot this is where it starts. In fact, one is behind the door that closes when you start heading down the stairs. I’ll have a video up of this, but if you get to Khan and the achievement hasn’t popped, you missed one.

Kill all the Reds on THE CHASE level.

 

Alright, there will be 2 cars with 2 people in them to your right. You need to kill all 4 of them before Khan blows up the car in front of you because there will be four new guys to your right you need to kill. So, you must kill 8 people before you hit the train. Kill the guy in the back, and 4 on the side before you just jump on. So 4+4+1+4=12 people you need to kill before jumping on. After that you have to kill everyone else to get to the dark one anyways before continuing on. If my math is wrong please tell me in private message lol

I bought the Helsing in the Quarantine market before heading off with Khan. I later killed the demon on top of the roof in The Dark City. I shot at him with other weapons a few times and it started to look at bit weak, and I later pumped up the Hesling to take it out. Now, after you do this I would reload the chapter as it could affect your good ending which I will explain later. I will have a video for this as well.

I would find a large map like Bandits or Contagion where there are a lot of enemies for you to pick off one by one. If you're following all of the visions in "Dead City" once you get to the one of the woman in the shower, let it end and check the tub. The corpse inside has one in its hands.

 

One is also available during the final battle in D6 when you have to take out the tank. There are several on-foot enemies by the tank that can be sniped. Any hit will be a kill, so head shots are not required

Okay I just unlocked shadow ranger achievement. The only time you are forced to kill is at the very end of the level D6. When you get to the part with the big guy with the flamethrower and the riot shield guys, that's when you start killing. So do not kill anyone at the train part or the part with the snipers.

After you defeat the Bear she will run up ahead and just lay there. Her children will start to eat her. Kill the three on top of her and save her life to get the achievement.

When you are captured on the level Pavel you need to kill or knock out everyone is the prison. If you are spotted they will gas everyone and kill them, so be careful. Once you are in the control room you can do whatever you want, but before you pull the switch with Pavel make sure to hit the one near the control panel on the right to free the prisoners.

Just as it says. On the level Khan, Khan (the person) will say the phone call is for you, but don't answer it. Just so you know, it is your mother.

Alright, here we go! You need to do a couple of things to make sure you get this, so do the best you can. Whenever you do something right a white flash will hit your screen.

 

-Listen to as many conversation you can (enemy and friend)

 

-Try not to kill anyone. There is an achievement for this where you don't kill any humans unless you have to. I didn't get the achievement (I killed one guy), but try not to go insane with the bloodshed.

 

-Save the women and children in Bandits. Look at the commando achievement.

 

-Save the kids teddy. Check out the reunion achievement.

 

-Get the Savior achievement

 

-Don't kill Lesnitsky or Pavel

 

- Listen to the Dark One! When he tells you a creature isn't hostile towards you, do not kill it! He will say something to you if you do something he didn't like.

From what I've been told the achievements for Ranger Mode are glitched. No other achievements are effected by the difficulty of the game. Just wanted to warn you of it.

Just a heads up, people are going to give you shit for posting this already. Personally I don't really care, but as a rule of thumb I wouldn't post guides for anything until the game's first official release date is reached.

 

Oh and also I wouldn't put WP or WIP in the actual title of the thread, and instead put it where you did in red in the first post. Reason being is that the title cannot be changed unless a mod does it, so it's better to just get the title right the first time and then edit the actual posts.

i can understand if people may be a little upset about a guide before the game is out, however i quite like a guide before i make a purchase as i can plan my gaming better if i can see if a game looks more easy or maybe take a long time to complete, knowing as well that there is nothing missable and there is chapter select means i can just enjoy going through the game without worrying about missing something.

 

i would prefer a guide before i get a game so i at least know what type of game im getting into, i 1k'd metro 2033 and there were a few things i missed so it took me another 2 playthrough''s and i got bored after a while, and with GRID 2 due out this week i think i need to plan my gaming, but this games sounds like it's going to be more easier to complete due to the chapter select.

Yeah, people get upset when early guides are posted for various reasons. Some are jealous that they don't have the game early, and we've also had some problems with piracy in the past.

FYI, just figured this one out:

 

At the beginning of "Facility", you'll see some guards fighting, and off to the right, two guards are talking about how one of them has a locked storage cabinet with a Ranger gun inside. If you hide in the right corner, this guard will check the speaker box, then walk down the hall and back to the beginning of the level, unlock his locker, and admire the gun; at this point you can take him out and collect the gun, which pops the Achievement.

Thanks for getting the guide started so early. Looks like I'll be taking my time with this one since the difficulty achievements are not included in the original 1000:gsicon:. 10-12 hours doesn't seem that bad. It's a lot longer than most of the recent games that I've been playing.
