Drake OPhile
Needs a little polishing 1. 2. 3. Welcome to my guide and road map for Apples To Apples, a hilariously fun game that's new to XBLA. AtA costs $10 (800 MSP) and is worth every penny. It's also not a hard 200/200, so I hope this guide makes the game look as simple as possible. First, the road map: -Estimated achievement difficulty: 1/10 -Offline: 3 (40/200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg) -Online: 9 (160/200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg) -Approximate amount of time to 200: Approx. 10 hours (depends on party size) -Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 500 rounds of Xbox Live -Number of missable achievements: None -Do cheat codes disable achievements?: None -Does difficulty affect achievements?: None -Glitchy achievements: None -Unobtainable achievements: None -Extra equipment needed?: None Step One: Apples to Apples!!! Almost all of this game's achievements are online, and this is a painfully simple game to learn to play (and the Tutorial isn't for learning how to play the board game version of AtA, which is what the online multiplayer is). In short, there will be a judge in each "round". This judge will draw a green card with an adjective on it. Each player will have 7 red cards in their hands containing nouns. They must find a card they feel is best described by the green card. It can be serious ("Slimy" -> "Snails"), funny ("Bloated" -> "Sandra Bullock"), or just downright offensive ("Innovating" -> "Adolf Hitler"). The judge does not who plays which card, and much then pick the red card he/she feels is most appropriate. If it was your card, you get one point. First player to reach the specified number of points needed for victory will win, and the game is over. So let's get to it and play some AtA online! This game requires at least 3 party members to play, and has slots for up to 6. It is an insanely fun time and if you have a mic you will laugh until your throat is sore! Depending on your "skill" you will either get Apple of my Eye for winning your first game or you'll get Mad Apple for losing three in a row. Winning games is key to unlocking the "gold" cards. Gold cards are red cards that have special properties (reversing the judge rotation, blocking a player from playing next round, stealing a point, etc). You will need at least 30 Xbox Live wins to unlock all of the available cards, and the last card unlocked has an achievement tied to it. Aside from winning 30 games you do not need to worry about winning or losing. At 1 win you will unlock the "Every Apple for Himself" card (steal 1 point) and the first time you play it will get you Sour Apple. Playing that card five times will get you Falling Far from the Tree. As you win matches and unlock cards you will be on your way to unlocking both All Your Apples Are Belong To Us as well as No Apples For You. Rotten To The Core is dependent largely on other people playing a card to stop you, but if you keep playing cards to steal points usually that player will retaliate and do the same to you and play the "Rotten Apple" card. Have this done to you 9 more times and the achievement is yours. While playing you will also unlock Apple-opolis for unlocking all the apple mascots. You can unlock them by playing through single player (and the road map marks this as an offline achievement) but you will unlock them much faster for winning green cards online. Finally the last online achievement is An Apple A Day which requires you to play a staggering 500 matches online. It's a lot, but this game is so much fun that you will simply lose track of it. You can check your progress by filtering the leaderboards. Step Two: Oh right... those offline achievements... The offline achievements are no sweat at all. Apple Seeds is a throwaway achievement that is given to you for completing the single player tutorial. Single player AtA is a little strange, it's like a word puzzle game (think Bookworm). Other than the tutorial there are no achievements tied to it, but completing single player will lead to unlocking Apple-opolis if you have not (or cannot) unlocked it over Xbox Live. You can also unlock Social Addict by going to "Help & Options", then "Share", then entering the email address you use to sign in to Facebook with. Check your email (spam folder) from "A2A Registration" ([email protected]) and click the link provided to allow the AtA app access to post to your FB wall. Now go back to the game and set "Posting" to enabled. The achievement should unlock. You can then disable posting and de-link the app from your Wall if you choose to do so. One thing I want to ask, though, to everyone who wants to boost: If you're going to boost wins with each other please do it in a private lobby, otherwise that just ruins the fun for people who just want to, well, have fun with the game. Thanks! Edited October 31, 2014 by Corrupt.
Drake OPhile
Achievement guide!! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPk1t1A=.jpg Apple-opolis - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Unlock all the Apple Avatars. This can be done one of two ways: 1) Single Player: If you cannot play this game online you can unlock this achievement by playing through the single player mode of the game. Single player is vastly different from Xbox Live and is more of a word puzzle game akin to Popcap's Bookworm game. You must find words hidden in a block of letters. These levels are self-explanatory and fairly simple. For completing the 12th level you will unlock the final avatar. It is much easier (and faster) to unlock this achievement via the Xbox Live method. See below. 2) Xbox Live: Each time you win a "round" (a green card) it will go toward your cumulative total. You need to win 45 rounds (not GAMES, just rounds) to unlock each avatar. The last avatar is the Clown Apple which unlocks at 45 rounds won. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/+Bq2ww==.jpg Rotten to the Core - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Be targeted by the "Rotten Apple" card 10 times. This is luck-based (unless you are boosting with friends in a private lobby). The "Rotten Apple" card lets you choose a player to have their next turn skipped. Usually if you are playing online and you play your own point-stealing or game-altering cards the affected player(s) will start playing cards toward you in retaliation. Once you have your turn skipped 10 times this achievement will unlock. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UP-PVEA=.jpg An Apple A Day - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Reach the Orchard Rank in Xbox LIVE by playing 500 games. This is the "hardest" achievement in the game, and that's only from a time consumption standpoint. Apples to Apples is a rather fun game and if you're playing for fun online you can play approximately 40 games every 4 to 5 hours depending largely on final scores and party size. If you are boosting with a group of 3 people, the minimum, and all forwarding points to a specific player, you can cut through games much faster. You simply have to PLAY 500 games, you don't have to win them. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UP4vrNM=.jpg Falling Far from the Tree - 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Play the "Every Apple for Himself" card 5 times. "Every Apple for Himself" requires 1 win over Xbox Live before it is unlocked and added to your "deck". Once it starts showing up simply use it 5 times. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPwOpWY=.jpg Apple of My Eye - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Win your first Xbox LIVE game. See "An Apple A Day". http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UP3uXfU=.jpg Sour Apple - 5http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Play a Golden Apple Card for the first time. A "golden" card is any red card that has a special effect rather than a standard noun on it. These all do different stuff to specific or all players. You unlock your first gold card with 1 Xbox Live win and it will likely show up in your very next game. Play this card and the achievement will unlock immediately. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPhMtgw=.jpg Mad Apple - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Lose 3 Xbox LIVE games in a row. See "An Apple A Day". http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPmsTp8=.jpg All Your Apples Are Belong to Us - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Play the "Apple Tart" card 10 times. "Apple Tart" requires 30 wins over Xbox Live before it is unlocked and added to your "deck". Once it starts showing up simply use it 10 times. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPuNRyo=.jpg No Apples for You - 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Play the "Yes, We Have No Apples" card 10 times. "Yes, We Have No Apples" requires 20 wins over Xbox Live before it is unlocked and added to your "deck". Once it starts showing up simply use it 10 times. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPptv7k=.jpg Apple Seeds - 5http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Complete the Single Player tutorial. This is the very first level of the single player game mode. Simply follow the on-screen instructions and after 3 rounds the tutorial will be complete and the achievement will unlock. You do not have to complete single player mode for any additional achievements. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPlKq7c=.jpg Apple-ocalypse - 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Be the second player to play an "Upset the Apple Cart" in a single round. "Upset the Apple Cart" requires 25 wins over Xbox Live before it is unlocked and added to your "deck". A "round" is one green card, not a full game, so if someone plays this card you must play yours immediately within the time limit of the round. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2164/UPiqUyQ=.jpg Social Addict - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/g-icon.gif Enable Social Integration for posting achievements. To enable social sharing go to "Help & Options" and then "Sharing". Enter the email you use to log in to Facebook and it will send an email from "A2A Registration" ([email protected]). Click the link provided, allow access to the Apples to Apples app, and finally go back to your game and set "Posting" to enabled. Once the achievement unlocks you can delete/block the app from your Wall and turn off posting if you desire.

Maka
You can boost the online games, by setting 5 second rounds up to 1 point, playing with 3 friends. Please adjust the completion time accordingly.
Drake OPhile
Somebody got the full 200g yesterday on the day of release so thats less than a day to 200g.... how can you say its a whopping 30-40hrs??? When I was playing online I finished about 50 rounds in 5 hours so I just did some fuzzy math. You can boost the online games, by setting 5 second rounds up to 1 point, playing with 3 friends. Please adjust the completion time accordingly. Did not know this was an option, I will adjust the guide.
Maka
It takes about 8-9 hours to boost out the online. Plus whatever it takes to complete single player.
Drake OPhile
It takes about 8-9 hours to boost out the online. Plus whatever it takes to complete single player. As far as I know, SP is optional. You can use it to unlock the apple avatars but you can also get them much faster through Xbox Live.
Ayx
Will be using this guide to help out my goal towards 200g, I wouldn't say this is a 1/10, 1 would mean it's no effort at all. Not to mention there's at least two achievements that is luck based. You should submit this to x360a so they can sticky it as I think it completes the guidelines. Great guide! DarkJake
No additional achievements for either of the DLC packs, right?
Ayx
Nope, the DLC packs are purely cosmetic which include backgrounds, clothes and more cards.
