Eggnogga
So, I've never played a GTA game online. (Yeah, I know) With the deal of the week for GTA V & 1.25 million online cash, I jumped on it. I'm just wondering, when I start playing online, where should I start? I don't even know what there is to do. I understand about free roam, but I don't want to hop in and be shot every 5 seconds by some random person. Just looking for some insight. Thanks. Sm0keytrip0d
If it were me just starting I'd use the 1.2M$ you got with the game and invest it in an apartment or 10 car garage (apartment comes with 10 car garage but is more expensive), buy a decent car (or if you are a Rockstar Social Club member buy the free car which is pretty good too) of the phones internet, buy the special carbine and/or bullpup rifle from the gun store and upgrade them (these should be avaliable from any lvl as its free DLC) and maybe buy some clothes, tattoos etc if you want to customize your characters look a bit then really all there is left to do is join some missions/heists to level up and earn more money to get better guns, more clothes etc via the quick job option in the phone. also with free roam if you want to avoid being killed there is always passive mode which makes you immune to damage, you just cant use weapons or anything but it stops others mindlessly killing you
Boomerang Cat
So, I've never played a GTA game online. (Yeah, I know) With the deal of the week for GTA V & 1.25 million online cash, I jumped on it. Welcome to GTA Eggnogga, just a few more months until the next FIFA. Firstly, Sm0keytrip0d gave you some great advice and has covered a lot of subjects so I'll try to add to his comments where I can. It doesn't sound like you've started playing GTA Online yet, so you'll be glad to know when you first start playing you get a nice Tutorial style race & Mission just after Creating your Character to ease you in. When you get into Free-Roam don't worry as most people aren't unreasonably aggressive. Most players will show up on the Map in white, this means they are not being aggressive, if their Icon is a Red circle this means they are aggressive Players - Players with Bounties on their Heads look different to aggressive Players in Red. My advice is to regularly press Down twice on the D-Pad to expand the Mini-Map while in Free Roam to keep track of the movement of the Players in your area. You also get the option to pick a Free Car from the streets, but as you have $1m plus this isn't too crucial a choice. Steal a random Car and take it to LS Customs once every 48 Minutes (1 Day in GTA Online world) and Sell it to make extra cash. I still do this at Rank 415+ lol. You can own up to 3 Properties, each with a Garage that can store 10 Cars each (30 in Total). Eventually, I'd recommend 1 x high end Apartment with a 10 Car Garage and 2 x separate 10 Vehicle Garages - Don't buy lesser Properties/Garages as you'll only get 50% back when you want to get rid of them. With your $1m+ I recommend a Supercar (can you afford the Entity XF or Zentorno?) if you can't afford too many Upgrades, the most essential is "Bulletproof Tyres". Avoid the Adder Supercar as it's handling is considered poor. As for earning money, I enjoy playing with Randoms. Lobbies are easily accessible via your Phone. There is a Quick Job Menu > from there you can Join Race, Join Contact Mission all the Options are there for you. I hope this helps Eggnogga. OceanH
... I understand about free roam, but I don't want to hop in and be shot every 5 seconds by some random person. ... You can play alone in the online world where you don't meet any random players at all: GTA Online > Solo session
Eggnogga
Thanks for the tips guys! I wanted to get started ASAP, but have to go out of town for work on Monday, so I'll probably start it all next weekend. At least I have some ideas of what to do and what to expect. This will still allow you to mess around and use weapons, etc., but you won't be killed every other second.
kaptainmyke
Start by doing a ton of races and missions to level up to 10. After 10 you can start accepting and receiving bounties. Rob every store on the map. Try the shooting range to increase your shooting skills. Fly helicopters and planes to increase flying skills for missions that require flying. The online flight school unlocks after level 5. These 3 tips will prove valuable when trying to level up in races and bounties.
LegendaryJord7
Thats pretty good info. But uhh, is it okay to ask what rank you are currently?
Chaoticgrace
Since you have some money to start u should buy a one of the high end apartments so you can host heists when you reach level 12, i think, it might be level 10. Also some of the dlc guns are available right away without having to level up. If people are constantly killing you start a private free roam so you can level up a little without the hassle. Neg96
If anyone is coming back to this, I recommend investing in basic transportation as well as a Nightclub, MC, and MC businesses as well as potentially Hangar and Bunker. You can accrue passive income if you buy all Nightclub techs and assign them to your Cocaine, Meth, Bunker, Hangar and Weed businesses. Not to mention the stock you'd accrue from Bunker (must be refilled manually). Of course it helps to invest additional millions into Nightclub and Bunker for accelerated stock production. If you either play GTAO normally or leave it AFK, you will get these properties accrued with a lot of resell value. Next investment should definitely be Arcade so you can run back-to-back Casino finales.
