So, to go with our current Over Achiever and Arcade Crazy awards, we are compiling a list for the Xbox One verions.

 

The basic plan is to release more achievements at the end of each year, with 5 hard and 5 quirky ones for every 12 months.

 

We thought as we are lovely (not struggling for inspiration, honest!), we would open up the discussion for you awesome subscribers.

 

Please keep this discussion solely in the sub forum, don't want to get people excited to early!

Any and all suggestions and arguments will be listened to, so don't be afraid to speak up!

So me, Jamie and Andrew have been working on the new overachiever and crazy lists for the Xbox one at the request of BP.

 

We have compiled a decent list, splitting it into four sections - 2014 and 2015 hard and quirky achievements. We are aiming from five from each, to give a decent representation of the two years the Xbox one has been out.

 

So, I'm asking for you all to reply with a hard achievement and a quirky achievement from the Xbox one. We will then add these to the list, and open it to all for a discussion on what should stay and go.

 

Even if you already messaged me with this on Skype (only a few got back to me) please could you repost it here.

Alien Isolation (2014) - "100 Times Too Many" (Get killed by the Alien 100 times)

Grand Theft Auto V (2014) - "Out of Your Depth" (You're gonna need a bigger boat...)

Halo: MCC (2014) - "The Guardians Are Coming" (Get killed by the Guardians)

LEGO Jurassic World (2015) - "Clever Goal" (As a Velociraptor, score a goal in the Jurassic World Petting Zoo)

Deadpool (2015) - "The first one's free!" (Got off your well-toned bottom)

Saint's Row: Gat Out of Hell (2015) - "Extra Crispy" (Die in the lava)

"Hurry Up!" - Finish the game within 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Alright guys, I'll post the compilation that we've got so far divided up by type and year. If you have any really strong opinions about things that absolutely should be included or excluded, let's hear 'em. Remember, we're looking to whittle it down to five hard and five quirky from each year.

 

 

We made the choice to restrict this to XB1 originals, so things like "No Point in Dying" from Limbo and "Seriously . . ." from the GoW remaster didn't get included. Games that were joint 360 and XB1 releases (Shadow of Mordor, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Dragon Age: Inquisition) are totally fine.

Touchdown has you dying by a nuclear explosion. Not that quirky.

 

Homerun is not quirky at all.

 

Prankster's Return is too, well, "the same" of Fallout 3's, but that's a perfect reason to exclude the other two and use this one.

 

Hard

 

Inquisitor - Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014)

Remove this. Non-biased, it's not that hard.

 

Hard

 

LASO Master - Halo MCC (2014)

Monopolized - Halo MCC (2014)

Redundant. Pick one or the other. The former is for completing all 4 LASO Campaigns, the latter is just for Halo 2.

 

Go with the latter. It's hard. As hell. And honestly, unless you have a checkpoint share, very little people will ever do it. Actually, just go with "LASO Master" since that covers Halo 2.

 

Hard

 

The Hunt is My Mistress - Shadow of Mordor (2015)

Eh...remove this. It's tricky, but the guides on this site and TA (sorry to bring them up) make this achievement extremely doable.

 

Hard

 

Walked the Path - Witcher 3

Remove this.

 

Witcher 3 has a negative difficulty curve. Which means the game starts out extremely hard, but then becomes absurdly easy past a certain level. There's no reason to deem this a hard achievement.

Quirky

 

To the Top - Rainbow 6: Siege (2015)

Remove.

 

This is for reaching Level 50. Even if you aren't skilled at the game, this can be done - albeit it would take longer - by simply playing Terrorist Hunt which is you against AI bots. There's nothing hard about it.

I'd agree with Bigg that the Fallout achievements aren't 'quirky'.

 

I'd probably move The Flapmaster (Goat Simulator) from Hard to Quirky.

 

A couple to consider for hard, both from Hand of Fate (2015): -

 

• Dungeon Master - Defeat the Dealer
  
• Dungeon Conqueror - Defeat the Dealer as the Warlord
  

 

A few to consider for Quirky: -

 

• Tastes Like Chicken - Won with a chicken on your face (Beach Buggy Racing)
  
• Is That A Goat? - Lick the rollercoaster with 6 batteries attached (Goat Simulator)
  
• Hardcorn Mode - Finished the game having fought every battle with Candy Corn in your party (Costume Quest 2)
  
• The Wet Bandit - Flood 50 toilets across any of the prisons (The Escapists)
  
• Naked Month - Spent 30 days in game without wearing any outfits (The Escapists)

Considering of three AC games available on the one atm, this one is definitely not the hardest achievement from the 3 lists, most of the sequences have easy to complete optional objectives.

impo, Homerun is well worth the list, as it fits the English dictionary definition of quirky perfectly impo.

 

Secondly, the hard ones you are dismissing, some of them are tricky. Just because stuff is easy for some, it may not be for others. We are all for constructive criticism, so keep it coming. But many people found Da hard, and the witcher etc. Personally, I didn't, but based Also on the time taken, they are worthy of being considered,

 

And there will only be one achievement from each game.

 

Edit - many of the ones listed here were already dismissed. However, in the interest of fairness and transparency Andrew posted all we started with.

 

For instance, Pranksters return was dismissed for the reason you mentioned. As was the second MCC one.

 

Edit 2 - I also know Bigg that you have most of these achievements you are dismissing, so it makes your input even more valid, as your obviously being honest as opposed to out for personal gain. So thank you for that,

It depends which English dictionary definition and an individual's interpretation to be honest. Quirky, to me, is something unusual or peculiar (in a positive light). I don't think running around a diamond in a baseball stadium and getting an achievement for it is necessarily quirky, even though that baseball stadium is now a settlement.

I found it peculiar, yet cool at the same time. It was something different, and I never even noticed the bases.

 

I think stuff like this is better than an achievement with a name that is a homage to something else.

 

But this is the point of the thread, so all opinions can be seen, and a consensus reached.

It's alright guys. We're not getting caught up in definitions. Looking back at the 360 lists, we used the quirky category for a wide variety of easy, unusual, funny, and clever achievements. It's a wide ranging category and the Homerun one could certainly qualify. Whether we use it or not remains to be seen.

 

Given the response to the most recent Max Club, it's unlikely that we'll make everyone completely happy, but our goal is to collect an expansive array of opinions and generate a final product that has something for everyone.
