Introduction:

Welcome to NBA 2k17 the Prelude. This game allows you set up a character to import to NBA 2k17 when it comes out, as well as get used to the controls. This game consists of 5 matches in which you're graded on the quality of your playing. Being selfish with the ball is a good way to get a bad score. Not that any of it matters since win or lose, A or D- you will get all the achievements.

 

The game does require an active internet connection and a 2k account to play.

 

Warning: Do not delete your save. The game will not let you start a new career, period. You get one playthrough and that's it. If you delete your save before doing an achievement you just locked yourself out of it. Unfortunately there is an example of this happening here

 

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

Create your character, you can spend as much time here as you like. I just changed his name and moved on. This will get you You've Got the Look. Next choose your college, doesn't really matter and this will unlock Higher Education.

 

Now just playthrough each game. It doesn't matter how well you do or if you win or lose. Just play through them and you will get these achievements Home Sweet Home, The Future is Bright, and Can't Do It Alone. After that is all over the game will come to screen with the option to play the bonus game or pre order NBA 2k17. Select play the bonus game and finish it to unlock You Gotta Represent. To make this part quicker you can keep fouling. You'll be subbed out and you can skip to when you're subbed back in again. Thanks to Maka for mentioning this method.

 

Now go the myplayer area and buy an attribute upgrade for Off We Go and then edit an animation for The New Me. Last but least complete the 2ku 10 minute tutorial match for Practice???

 

 

Conclusion:

Since you never have to perform well or win this completion is super easy, and with the wonderful price of free there is little reason to not pick this up to pad your score and completions count.

10 Minute match that goes over controls as they become relevant during the match. No score is kept, no stats so just finish it out to get the achievement.

Purchase an attribute upgrade in the MyPLAYER Store.

 

Go to myPlayer Inventory, select anything until the option to go to 2k Sports Store comes up, hit . Got MyPlayer, MyPlayer Attribute Upgrade, and increase a stat (such as Shooting off dribble) by one. Press to add to cart, to open cart, to checkout, and to confirm.

Equip a custom animation on your MyPLAYER.

 

Go MyPlayer Inventory then NBA/Pro -Am animation (or MyPark animations). Select NBA Shots and then change your Jump Shot to a different release using the .

Choose which college you want to attend.

 

After you make your character and watch a cutscene you will be able to choose from 8 colleges. Pick one and confirm.

Complete your first college "game."

 

After you pick a school you will play a scrimmage match against other players from your school of choice. Play and do your best, this achievement unlocks no matter what.

Make your college debut in front of the home fans.

 

Second game. Win or lose this unlocks.

Give your mom the news about your future plans.

 

Finish all your college games and this will unlock during a cutscene. You will get this regardless of whether you win those games or not.

Ask Coach Falls to help you get ready for the draft.

 

This will unlock shortly after The Future is Bright

Play the bonus game at the end of the 'career' mode.

Tried to sim the first college match on another account, couldn't find the option. If someone can confirm that for the bonus game I will add it. Don't feel like replaying this game to find out myself.

Apparently, you can only sim the last two matches. The option comes up after selecting "Quit Game". :/

 

You can also apparently repeatedly foul people to end the game early too.

There seems to be an issue with people skipping the tutorial and not being able to play it at all after the game is finished. The last match seems to lock you out of everything once it's done?

Tutorial is separate from the career mode so you shouldn't be locked out from it. It's the last thing I did to complete the game.

So, upon watching your video, I realize the game never gave me the option to put in my name etc. I just loaded into the "begin my career" screen or whatever and assumed that was me creating my character (since you edit your character there) then couldnt figure out why the first achievement didn't pop. Am I completely fucked for unlocking that first one?

SOLUTION TO PROBLEMS!

 

I just got Off We Go without paying a dime (and failing real bad on the main story and finishing with 4 coins).

 

Just download the mobile app (MYNBA2K7) & log in using your gamer tag & get some coins by doing the daily missions. The coins will carry over from the app to the game once you reopen the game back up on Xbox and BLAM! You can make the purchase for attributes without spending any real money!

Thanks for the great guide! One quick tip that I have is for the Practice??? achievement. Once you get the ball, just stand at center court dribbling the ball. There is no shot clock and the only time the game pauses is when the tutorial tips pop up. I stood there the last six minutes and only had to tap the B button 2 or 3 times a minute.

So this is annoying. I just finished the game and got every achievement except "The Future Is Bright". It never unlocked when it was supposed to. Every achievement before and after unlocked exactly when the guide said. And it's not like I can go back and play it again to get it to pop. Anyone else have this problem? And if so did it eventually pop for you?

 

Update: Directly after posting this I opened the game back up and snapped the achievement list and it showed the completion bar full for that achievement then 5 seconds later it unlocked. Move along, nothing to see here.
