Introduction:

The Golf Club is a golf simulation video game developed by HB Studios and is a golf sim targeting the social features of the next generation of consoles and boasting a powerful Course Creator based on the procedural generation of courses. The Course Creator can generate a brand new course in seconds which can be shared and played immediately online with friends and other gamers. There are also full editing capabilities for courses, Tournaments and Tours.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

There is no certain way to play this, as you can go gun for any achievements you want, in any order. There are some online achievements connected to servers and downloads, so I do recommend you get those out of the way first... just in case you take your time with the game or forget about it and the servers go down at some point, leaving you stuck with an incomplete game.

If you've played any of the EA Sports golf games, this game does play somewhat similar to that... but with far fewer control options. There isn't much in the way of shot or spin manipulation, power meters, etc... and it's really quite frustrating.

After you do the online related achievements, I highly recommend you just use the Play Now feature and knock out a few holes to get used to the game. You could always just play a full round of 18 holes to also get "Amateur Golfer." One that's done and you feel alright with the controls, move on to the achievement list. I recommend Little Brook Manor golf course, as it is an official course and very easy... allowing you to get a few achievements over the course of your game play.

Multiplayer:

There are two achievements that require online multiplayer, although technically one of them only requires your friends list and invites. "Golf Buddy" requires you to play on a course with a friend. You can just go to the Global Players menu and add players currently in the game to your friends list and then join whatever course they are. However, YOU MUST finish the round in order for the achievement to pop. You can't just quit or dashboard out. You can also use the Global Players menu to add 3 friends currently in the game and then invite them to YOUR game, earning you the "Party Planner" achievement. See those achievements for more information.

Mop-Up:

As there is no strategic way to play this or much in the way of requirements, the entire thing kind of feels like a mop-up. Other than playing a full 18 rounds with a good score, every achievement can be done whenever you want.

Conclusion:

The absolute only thing going for this game is the course editor. Think "Excite Bike" from the NES where you can create your own track, but on steroids. If you are into building stuff from scratch, you will enjoy this feature. If you are into fairly easy achievements, you will enjoy this game. If you actually want a golf game or enjoy sports games, this game will frustrate you to no end. It is glitchy, crashes sometimes and the game controls are terrible. It's one of the worst golf games I've played. Unless you want some quick gamerscore, I highly suggest you avoid this game.

Achievement Guide:

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90291-lo.jpg Amateur Golfer 10:gsicon:

Finish an 18-hole round of golf.

Just play 18 holes. Can be a tournament or Play Now on any course. Doesn't matter when, where or how.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90292-lo.jpg Driving The Point Home 25:gsicon:

Drive a ball 315 yards or greater on an official course.

Play Now on Craggy Island Links or Stone Reach Links. Turn towards the water, equip your Driver and pound it at full strength. The ball sails off the course and over a cliff, into the sea. Because of the height/distance of the tee compared to the water, the ball will go over 315 and land in the drink. Doesn't matter... the achievement is yours.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90293-lo.jpg Eagle 15:gsicon:

Score an Eagle on an official course.

An eagle in golf is 2 shots under par. For those who REALLY don't know golf, par is a set amount of shots determined to be "normal" for what it takes to get your ball into the hole from the tee off. So if the par is 5, an eagle would be 3 (this is the most common way to get an eagle).

It's important to note the OFFICIAL COURSE part of this. That means you can't download or create an easy course for this. You'll probably get this while playing naturally, but if not, you can try repeatedly on Hole 3 of Little Brook Manor course. You can easily get to the green in 2 shots, meaning you need to putt once for the eagle.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90294-lo.jpg I'll Take That… 15:gsicon:

Beat a friend’s course record on any course.

You can try to beat a friends' record legitimately. You can go into the Global Users menu and add a bunch of people to your list and try to beat someone randomly, or look for someone who has posted a terrible score on a 9 hole course. You can boost with a buddy. The choice is yours.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90296-lo.jpg Golf Buddy 10:gsicon:

Play against a live rival.

Here, you need to play on the same course as someone on your friends list, that you have selected as your rival in the pre-game options and importantly, FINISH THE ROUND. I just found someone off the Global Players list, added them to my friends account and then joined whatever course they were on.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90297-lo.jpg Goldie Bounce 15:gsicon:

Land on the fairway or green after striking a tree.

You might get this naturally during your 18 holes. If not, you can download courses like "Miss This" or "Goldie Bounce Swags" that are user created specifically for this achievement. For you non-golf fans out there, the fairway is the very short, light green part of the course where your ball is SUPPOSED to land while you go for the hole. The green is the really light green area where the hole is.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90299-lo.jpg Give Them An Inch 20:gsicon:

Putt a total of 1 mile.

To do this legitimately, you will need to play A LOT. Since the game isn't very good, I recommend you boost it. Play a few times on a downloaded course called "Putt Straight." You will get over 1000 yard putts every time and it's also a good one to get a hole in one for "Super Ace" if you haven't gotten it naturally.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90300-lo.jpg Playing Favourites 20:gsicon:

Favourite 10 courses.

From the menu, just go to Play Now and when you get to the part where you have a course selection, just pick 10 courses and when you get to the next screen, hit :rbbut: on each one to add them to your favorite list.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90301-lo.jpg Party Planner 20:gsicon:

Invite 3 unique live friends to one of your rounds.

People don't need to accept the invite for this to pop. You just gotta invite them. If you don't have friends with the game, go into the Global Users part of the menu and add recent players to your friends list. Then invite them to a game once you start up a round and this will pop.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90303-lo.jpg Ace 120:gsicon:

Score a hole-in-one on an official course.

OFFICIAL COURSE is important to remember here, so no cheating! The best option for you will be Long Pond and the very first hole. Any par 3 hole in the game will work, but this one is straight and usually no winds. It's mostly luck based, but you will see over time how to regulate your shot for power and direction in order to nab this one. Take a swing, note the ball trajectory and placement... rinse and repeat until you get it.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90304-lo.jpg Close But No Cigar 30:gsicon:

Place the ball 1 yard from the hole from 250+ yards out, on an official course.

You can get this normally in your play through, or try on Hole 1 of Little Brook Manor course over and over. Take a shot with a wedge off the tee to get you around 260 yards away and then use the 3 wood. Since it's Hole 1, you can just keep restarting

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90305-lo.jpg I Would Walk… 30:gsicon:

Play holes totalling length of 500 miles.

Another achievement that would take a long time naturally. Conversely, you can download courses to boost this. Simply search for "500" in the course list and there are several there that give you tons of distance towards the total.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90306-lo.jpg GIR Collector 30:gsicon:

Hit all greens in regulation in one round on an official 18-hole course.

See "FIR collector."

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90307-lo.jpg FIR Collector 30:gsicon:

Hit all fairways in regulation in one round on an official 18-hole course.

Regulation is a term that relates to getting par for the hole and subsequently, par or better for the round. For fairways, you can't land in the rough or off the fairway with a tee shot at the start. For greens, you need to land on the green 1 shot or better under par. So off the tee, if you don't land on the fairway with your very first shot, you aren't in regulation. I suggest Little Brook Manor because it is easy and will allow you to try for multiple achievements on the same course.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90308-lo.jpg KAPOW! 50:gsicon:

Drive a ball 1,000 yards or greater.

There is a downloadable course called "Bearded Woman" that will allow your ball to keep rolling well past 1000 yards. Just get the map, take a swing and then go make a sandwich. A few minutes later and it's yours.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90309-lo.jpg Build It And They Will Come 50:gsicon:

Publish a created course.

Go into the Greg Norman Course Creator and make a random course. The walkthrough is very easy and it only requires 5 or 6 clicks of the buttons in order to create a random course and publish it online. Very straight forward and easy.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90312-lo.jpg Super Ace 100:gsicon:

Score a hole-in-one from 250+ yards.

You can get this legitimately on a par 3 from your tee shot. Good luck with that. I recommend you do this on the custom course recommended in "Give Them An Inch."

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90313-lo.jpg Lucky Number Seven 100:gsicon:

Finish a 70+ par course at par or better using only a seven iron.

A ridiculous achievement, but you can get it easily by searching for a downloadable course geared towards it. There are several of them, with the words "Easy Lucky 7" or a variant of the achievement name in the course list. You then need to select your 7 iron club every time.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90314-lo.jpg Explorer 100:gsicon:

Play 100 unique user-created courses designed by other Members.

This one seems to be causing people problems, as the game crashes with certain downloadable courses. Obviously playing 100 courses will be massively time consuming, so there are custom courses available to help this one out. Search for courses with "Explorer" or "100" in the title. These are made for this achievement, but many users have reported that the game crashes on some of the courses. Good luck! If you find your courses crashing, you can always search for 1 hole courses. Download them, play them, rinse and repeat. The searching will take longer than the playing!

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90295-lo.jpg Ferret 20:gsicon:

Hole the ball from off the green on an official course.

The 2nd course on Little Brook Manor will allow you to get this if you put your ball into the bunker (the sand) on purpose. DO NOT go for this achievement during your FIR or GIR or other skill related achievement playthroughs. Hit the ball into the sand and from there, hit it directly into the hole. If you aim slightly high enough, or hit the ball a bit harder than perfect... the ball will also hit the pin (the flag, the stick) sticking out of the hole, which gets you "Pinned." There are also custom courses made for hitting the pin, if you are not finding it easy enough.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90298-lo.jpg Pinned 20:gsicon:

Strike the pin while the ball is airborne from off the green.

See "Ferret."

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90302-lo.jpg Comeback Kid 20:gsicon:

Finish an 18-hole course under-par having been +3 or more at hole 9.

Once you've gotten used to Little Brook Manor, you can play the first 9 holes and purposely end up with +3 at hole 9, only to go on a good score run for the back 9 and finish -1 or better. Conversely, you can download a map by searching for "Comeback Kid" and play the custom course geared for this one. "Pro Tour Swags" is a good one for this and "Tour Pro."

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90310-lo.jpg Golden Ferret 75:gsicon:

Hole the ball directly from a bunker on an official course.

See "Ferret."

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/2920/90311-lo.jpg Tour Pro 75:gsicon:

Complete at 72+ hole Tour at or below aggregate par.

See "Comeback Kid."
