*This is assuming you're willing to change the date on your Windows 10 device as needed to unlock achievements, perform a glitch to count adventure map completion over and over, and are willing to spend $2 to go Premium. If you don't do those three things, you're looking at a total of at least 100 hours of actual play time over the course of one year. Total play time will also vary widely depending on skill level with word games, especially crossword puzzles.

**In theory, "A Year Long Excursion" isn't unlockable until March 2018, "Go for the Gold" isn't unlockable until November 2017, "Go for the Silver" isn't unlockable until January 2018, and "Go for the Bronze" isn't unlockable until March 2018. There is a glitch to unlock "A Year Long Excursion" in a single month, and a date-changing exploit to get enough medals for all three of the latter achievements. Additionally, "Expert Solver," "Expert Jumbler," and "Expert Seeker" are all glitched in that if you meet the requirements (get to level 80) while offline, the achievements won't unlock when you connect. You'll then be forced to get to level 100 (which is the next level where you earn a new title) to force the achievement to unlock.

Welcome to Microsoft Ultimate Word Games, a collection of Wordament, Jumble, and Crosswords all in one app. If you're unfamiliar with these games, Wordament plays like Boggle or Ruzzle, Jumble is simply anagrams, and Crosswords features crossword puzzles. Each game mode features an adventure mode, with a new adventure map added every month, there are daily challenges for each game mode, Wordament features an online multiplayer mode to compete against others, and each game mode has an experience level. You earn experience for every activity you do in each game mode. There is quite a lot of content here, especially for a free game, so it's well worth the download. As far as achievements go, there's the standard year's worth of daily challenge badges to earn (par for the course for all Microsoft casual games), getting to level 80 in each word game, and lots of miscellaneous achievements. It's going to be quite a bit of work to get the completion, but thankfully nothing is difficult. Let's get started with how to complete this game as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The first thing you should decide is whether or not you're willing to go Premium. It is $2 for one month. It removes ads, doubles all experience earned in all game modes, and doubles coins in all daily challenges. You are probably thinking "why should I pay money for a free game?" but it really comes down to how much your time is worth and how long you think you can play the same game over and over and still enjoy it. To put it in perspective, paying $2 to go Premium will save you a solid 50 hours of play time. I highly recommend going Premium. If you do, and you're planning to change the date on your device to speed up getting achievements, just be aware that the only date your device saves is the date your Premium upgrade expires, not the date you upgraded. The reason I say this is because say, for example, on September 1st, 2017 you upgrade to Premium and it will expire on October 1st, 2017. This means you get the benefits of Premium every day before October 1st, 2017. So if you change the date on your device to August 2016, you will still have Premium benefits. That makes it even more worth it, because you're paying for a month of Premium, but you can actually change the date on your device to always have it. I changed the date forward to October 2017 and it told me Premium expired, so I changed the date back and I had my Premium upgrade back again. All the device looks at is the expiration date of your Premium upgrade.

Since the three game modes are completely separate, there isn't a set order you have to do anything in. As long as you are willing to change the date on your device to work around the time limited achievements, then there is no need to plan anything out ahead of time. Daily challenges can be done whenever, since you can change the date to whenever you want. Here is a brief rundown of each game mode.

Wordament consists of an adventure mode map each month, a quickplay mode where you can play a round by yourself with three objectives at varying difficulty levels, and a multiplayer mode where you can compete against the general public. For achievements, you'll have to play a multiplayer round, get 100 stars in an adventure mode map, and then a handful of miscellaneous achievements. You'll also have to reach level 80.

Jumble consists of an adventure mode map each month, and then a quickplay mode, which functions the same way as the Wordament quickplay. There is no multiplayer and no other mode here. You'll have to obtain 100 stars in an adventure mode map, a handful of miscellaneous achievements, and get to level 80.

Crosswords consists of an adventure mode map each month, and then 5 Sunday puzzles that change each month. There is no quickplay and no multiplayer, making this the hardest game type to earn experience. You have no choice but to earn experience via adventure mode maps (it's your most efficient option), so all long term adventure mode achievements will be obtained here. In addition to obtaining 50 stars in adventure mode, you've also got the standard miscellaneous achievements and getting to level 80.

Daily Challenges

The achievements related to daily challenges are pretty straightforward as long as you have no qualms about manipulating the date on your Windows 10 device. You'll have to play every day for a month, complete every challenge for a month, and then earn a bunch of badges. The daily challenges are all very fast and easy so this won't take much time, especially if you upgrade to Premium.

Mop Up

If you're still missing any achievements after getting to level 80 in each game mode and earning all of the required daily challenge badges, now is the time to refer to those specific achievement descriptions and mop them up.

Microsoft Ultimate Word Games is a great collection of three of their most popular word games. There is quite a lot of content, and it's all free, so it's well worth it if you enjoy word games. All of the aspects of each word game is retained here, along with added adventure modes and experience levels. It makes for a game that you can spend the next year playing if you really enjoy the word games. The achievements will definitely take some time, but there's nothing really difficult here at all. Just be prepared for a lot of time to be invested in this game if you don't go Premium. All in all though, it's a free and pretty easy completion. Hope you enjoyed it and congrats on the completion!

Achievement Guide

Find 1,000 words across all game modes

Finding words counts for both Wordament and Jumble. By the time you get to level 80 in both game modes, you will have far surpassed this. To put it in perspective, I am currently at just over 26,000 words found. So you will definitely unlock this achievement very early in your time with this game.

Win 8 gold Daily Challenge badges

Each month you can earn one of each type of badge - bronze, silver, gold, and diamond. You'll need to earn 8 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze badges. So theoretically this will take a total of 12 months to unlock them all. This would also mean that, in theory, since this game was released in April 2017, that these achievements aren't obtainable for some months yet. Thankfully there are a few workarounds and exploits to take advantage of to make these achievement very fast. Even faster if you upgrade to Premium, which doubles all of your coins you earn.

There are a couple important notes to keep in mind, assuming you're going to be changing the date on your device to obtain these achievements. As mentioned in the Roadmap, if you have the Premium upgrade, make sure you're changing the date back in time, not forward, so you retain your Premium benefits. Here are the important notes to keep in mind:

Note 1: Wordament and Jumble daily challenges are computer generated. This means they exist for all days of all months, no matter what you set your date for. Crosswords, on the other hand, are created and loaded newly each month. So there are no Crossword daily challenges before April 2017 or after the current month you're playing in. As soon as you hit the first of the month, all of that month's daily challenges are then available for you if you change the date to the last day of the month.

Note 2: the coin requirements for each badge changed after June 2017 for some reason. So any month of daily challenges you do before June have a higher coin requirement for each badge. Here's what the requirements look like:

Original requirements

Bronze - 3000

Silver - 9000

Gold - 15000

New requirements

Bronze - 2000

Silver - 5000

Gold - 10000

With those two important notes in mind, we can now talk about how to exploit the system to get daily challenge badges as quickly as possible. First let's talk about how to complete daily challenges for months before April 2017, when the game didn't actually exist yet.

To earn daily challenge badges in a month before April 2017, there are a bunch of steps you have to follow. It may seem long winded and like a pain, but it's actually very fast once you get the hang of it.

1) Open up the game app and wait until the Home screen loads up and is displayed

2) Change the date on your device to the desired date before April 2017

3) Go to Daily Challenges, then to Calendar, and select the day you want to do the challenge on. Select the challenge you want to complete. Keep Note 1 in mind - crossword challenges don't exist, so you can't choose them or you'll get an error.

4) Change the date back to the current day. The reason for doing this is it changes the coin requirements to the lesser amount mentioned in Note 2 above

5) Complete the daily challenge. After getting your coins and experience, close the app. Resume from Step 1 for the next challenge

Now that you can complete daily challenges for any month, here's another exploit to take advantage of to double the amount of badges you earn each month. Remember how the coin requirement for each badge changed after June 2017? We're going to exploit the varying coin requirements to earn two of each badge per month. It all ties back to step number 4 above, where you change the date back to today's date after opening the old daily challenge. If you change the date back to today's date, you get the new requirements; if you don't, you get the old requirements. Because of this, it's possible to get badges at the following coin amounts:

2000 - bronze (new)

3000 - bronze (original)

5000 - silver (new)

9000 - silver (original)

10000 - gold (new)

15000 - gold (original, not possible without Premium)

So what you'll do is follow the workaround steps above, following step 4 so you'll get a bronze badge at 2000 coins. Once you reach 2000 coins, skip step 4 so you unlock another bronze badge at 3000 coins. Note that skipping step 4 means you'll need to set your date back to the current date after closing the app and before opening it again. Then go back to following step 4 until you reach 5000 coins for silver, then skip step 4 until you get to 9000 coins for a second silver.

This method actually makes it faster to play months before April 2017 instead of later months. In six months you can have all of the required badges for these three achievements. Just be aware that any badges earned in months before April 2017 will not show up in your badge count on the Awards and Achievements screen, but it will count toward the achievements if you follow them on the Xbox app and it will unlock the achievement with the correct time stamp.

As far as the challenges themselves, refer to the "Strive for Perfection" achievement solution for more information.

Upon collecting the required number of badges, the achievement will unlock.

132754-lo.jpgStar Seeker 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Earn 100 stars in Wordament Adventure

Each Wordament adventure map level has 3 stars that can be earned on it by completing each of the three objectives. For this achievement, you need to earn a total of 100 stars across all months. This will take around half of a single adventure map if you get all three stars, or you can break it up over multiple levels or multiple maps. In general, Wordament is the easiest of the three game modes, and adventure mode levels only take a minute or two to get all three stars, so it's very fast to blow through a single map to get 100 stars.

The achievement will unlock upon earning your 100th star.

132755-lo.jpgFast Finder 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find 5 words in under 10 seconds (Single Player or Multiplayer)

This achievement will almost definitely come naturally while getting up to level 80. As the achievement says, you need to find 5 words within 10 seconds. That's plenty of time as long as you move quick. This will definitely be easier on a tablet with your finger or a stylus as opposed to a mouse.

One of the more common letter groupings that you can make 5 words with very quickly is A T E within a 2x2 section. When you see these three letters grouped together in a 2x2 section of the grid, quickly spell the following five words:

Alternatively, you can just scope out the puzzle visually first, find five words, and then quickly swipe them one after another.

The achievement will pop immediately upon meeting the requirements.

132756-lo.jpgCome Together 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Finish your first Wordament multiplayer game

To unlock this achievement, go to Wordament, then open a multiplayer game in the lower right corner. All you have to do to unlock this achievement is finish a match. You don't have to get a certain score, and you don't even have to try. Even if you jump right into the middle of a game, reaching the end of the game triggers the achievement. Simply finish one multiplayer game and the achievement will unlock.

132757-lo.jpgTheme Party 25http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find 50 Theme Words

In Wordament games, theme words show up in blue in the word list on the left. In adventure mode maps, some levels have an objective for theme words, so as you work toward 100 stars in Wordament Adventure mode, you should make good progress towards this achievement and possibly unlock it. If not, while grinding up to level 80 in quickplay (see the "Expert Seeker" achievement solution for more information on that), every quickplay match you play has an objective to use one of the special tiles, such as PRE- or -LY in a word. Each one of the words you make with these tiles counts towards the 50 theme words you need. So this achievement will unavoidably unlock while grinding to level 80.

132758-lo.jpgStar Juggler 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Earn 100 stars in Jumble Adventure

Each Jumble Adventure map level has three objectives to complete, and completing each one rewards you with a star. This achievement is cumulative across all Jumble adventure maps, so you can change maps as needed to unlock 100 stars.

The adventure mode levels are pretty simple, you essentially just need to find all of the anagrams. If you're struggling with this, feel free to use an anagram solver if you ever get stuck. You could also just move on to the next level as long as you unlock at least one star. There's no need to struggle with any difficult words, since you only need to earn 100 stars total and then you're done with Jumble adventure mode.

Once you reach 100 stars, the achievement will unlock.

132759-lo.jpgEducated Tumbler 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find 50 Expert words

Expert words in Jumble are words that are uncommon or rare. Finding them brings up an "Expert Word!" text on screen, and these words aren't part of the list of words you need to find.

You'll likely find a bunch naturally, especially if you're used to playing Wordament and know of words that work for Wordament but you don't know what they mean, they are probably expert words in Jumble. If you don't find them naturally while completing adventure mode stars or grinding to level 80, you can use an anagram solver on each quickplay puzzle. Type in all of the words you don't recognize and they'll be the expert words.

Once you've found a cumulative total of 50 across all Jumble game modes, the achievement will unlock.

132760-lo.jpgStar Solver 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Earn 50 stars in Crosswords Single Player

Since Crosswords doesn't have a quickplay option or anything other good ways to gain experience, you will unavoidably unlock this achievement while working towards level 80.

Each Crosswords adventure mode map has 30 levels, and you'll earn 3 stars for each puzzle you complete, so you'll earn 50 stars well before finishing your first adventure mode map.

The achievement will unlock as soon as you earn your 50th star.

132761-lo.jpgCrossword Craver 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete your first Sunday Puzzle pack

Each month has a total of 5 Sunday puzzles available to complete. All five are displayed in the lower right corner on the Crosswords screen. Sunday puzzles themselves aren't really much, if any, harder than normal puzzles, they're just bigger grids and sometimes have slightly more involved themes. Even so, they are still around Tuesday-ish level difficulty, so they shouldn't pose any problems. It'll likely take around 10-20 minutes to complete each Sunday puzzle. Feel free to use as many hints as you want, Google stuff you don't know, or use a thesaurus.

Once you complete all five Sunday puzzles in the same month, the achievement will unlock.

Get a 100% Completion on an Adventure Map (any mode)

To unlock this achievement, you'll have to obtain all stars on a single Adventure map in any of the three game modes. In my opinion, Wordament is the faster and easiest game mode, but if you want to earn achievements as efficiently as possible, you might as well save this for Crosswords, since the only good way to level up in Crosswords is by completing Adventure Maps. You'll end up completing at least 5-6 Adventure Maps in Crosswords to get to level 80 anyway, so this achievement will come naturally on the way.

To unlock this achievement, you'll have to earn 3 stars on every level and every bonus level of a single map, including the final bonus level which unlocks after obtaining all other stars. Once you obtain every star on a map, a pop-up will appear and count up your stars, and congratulate you for obtaining every star. This is when the achievement will pop.

132765-lo.jpgA Year Long Excursion 70http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete 12 Adventure Maps in any single mode

Note that completing an Adventure Map just means opening the final gate. You do not need to earn every star for this achievement.

As the description says, you need to complete 12 Adventure Maps in either one of the three game modes, but it has to be all in the same game mode. This would mean that, in theory, this achievement is unobtainable until March 1st, 2018, a year after the game has been released. Thankfully there is a glitch/exploit that you can take advantage of to unlock this achievement after completing a single Adventure Map.

The trick to this glitch is that when you complete an Adventure Map (open the final gate to get to the last chest) and the banner pops up saying congratulations and counts up your stars, this counts as one map completion towards the achievement. So there is a way to continually make this banner pop up for the same map, making progress towards the achievement over and over until it unlocks. Here's how to do it:

1) Reach the end of an Adventure Map in any game mode. Open the final gate to make the banner pop up that says congratulations and counts your stars up.

2) The banner gives you two button options: open more maps to complete more, or continue earning stars on the existing map. DO NOT CHOOSE EITHER OPTION. Instead, close the game app completely.

3) Open the game app back up, and go to the game type whose Adventure Map you just completed. Upon opening that game type you should immediately get the congratulations banner again saying you completed the map. This will again count towards the achievement.

4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the achievement unlocks.

Since this requires you to perform an exploit just after completing a map, if you have completed all available maps already, you'll have to wait until the next month to get a new map and complete it.

As far as which game type to use, you will unavoidably need to complete many Crosswords Adventure Maps to reach level 80 anyway, so it is most efficient to perform this exploit when you complete a Crosswords Adventure Map.

As soon as the completion banner pops up for the 12th time, the achievement will unlock.

Complete every Daily Challenge in a month

There is no time requirement for this achievement, meaning you can complete each day's challenges as they come, wait until the last day of the month and complete them all for that month, or change the date on your device to an earlier month to complete them all. Just be aware that Crossword Daily Challenges don't exist before April 2017 when the game was released, since crossword puzzles aren't randomly generated like the other two game modes. This all means that you can take your time and work through every challenge for every day of a given month. That being said, it's most efficient if you combine this achievement with the "Marathon" achievement.

As far as the challenges themselves, each day has a Wordament challenge where you have to use crystal letters in words, a Jumble challenge where you have to spell specific words on the list to defuse bombs, and a Crosswords challenge where you have to answer certain clues to earn keys to unlock a final challenge which you then have to solve. The difficulty of each challenge is randomly chosen, and can be easy, medium, hard, or expert. Even expert difficulty isn't hard on each of the game types. Here's a little more detail about each type of challenge:

The goal here is to collect crystals by using the blue letters in words. If you use at least 3 crystal letters in one word, the last letter of that word will turn into a rainbow tile that doubles your crystal value when you use it in a word. Naturally this means you should be aiming to make as many crystal tiles as possible. The catch is that you can't duplicate words, so once you use a word, you can't spell it again, even if you're using tiles in different locations, so plan accordingly. By that I mean don't spell words longer than are necessary to use the crystal tiles, otherwise you're wasting opportunities for longer words later.

For the easy and medium difficulties, you have as many or more moves than how many crystals you need, so these are incredibly easy. Just use at least one crystal per word and you'll beat it. For hard and expert, you're going to have to make some rainbow tiles. Just be aware that new blue crystal tiles are generated each time you use all the blue tiles. The rainbow tiles don't affect this. So if you have a rainbow tile and there's only one crystal tile left, or even two, it's better to save the rainbow tile, use the crystal tiles, and then when more crystal tiles spawn, make a word with 2+ crystals and a rainbow. This will double your crystal value of the word AND generate another rainbow. This makes hard and expert difficulties very easy too, they'll just take a little longer.

Here you have to find words that correspond to the bombs on the word list. Naturally start with the shortest bomb fuse first. At first it will be a matter of making an educated guess as to what word corresponds to the bomb by seeing if it's near the beginning, middle, or end of the list, and then guessing a word that should be in that range. From there, you can narrow down each bomb word.

If you have no interest in guessing words or aren't good at anagrams, you can use an anagram solver such as THIS ONE to give you all the words, then just figure out which ones go with each bomb.

Each crossword has keys in set boxes, and you need to fill that box with the correct letter and then "Check Word" on it, and if it's correct, it'll use that key on the locked clue in the upper right. There is no time limit here, so no need to rush. In general, the crossword clues and answers are very Tuesday-level difficulty, so it's unlikely you'll need to solve extra parts of the puzzle, but that is an option too if you need more crosses to help you figure out a word.

Once you have the minimum number of keys required to open the lock (which is the only thing the daily challenge difficulty affects), you can now try to figure out the final answer. The clue is usually something vaguely related to the answer, and isn't a straightforward crossword clue. If you need more help, you can continue to earn more keys on the grid to reveal more letters of the final answer, making these challenges very easy.

132769-lo.jpgExpert Seeker 45http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Obtain the Expert title for Wordament

The Expert title is obtained by reaching level 80 in Wordament. You get experience from daily challenges, adventure map levels, quickplay, and multiplayer. Since this is one of the longer achievements to unlock, you should do all other achievements related to Wordament first since they'll all give you experience. Once you're done with everything else, you'll probably only be in the 30s or so, depending on how many adventure maps you do in Wordament. That means you'll be in for a pretty decent grind up to level 80.

The fastest way to level up in Wordament, by far, is playing a quickplay game on easy difficulty. Experience is awarded for each star earned, so difficulty does not impact experience earned in any way. This means you can start up a quickplay game on easy and very quickly beat it to get the experience, then repeat until you reach level 80. I know it will seem like adventure maps are the way to go, since they have the chests that give bonus experience, but adventure map levels are way slower than easy quickplay sessions, especially as you progress farther into the map. To put it in perspective, my fastest easy quickplay session is 6 seconds for all three stars. Realistically it should only take around 15-20 seconds per game to get all three stars. This allows you to level up very quickly.

One other thing to consider is upgrading to Premium. For $2, you get double experience for a month. I highly recommend going Premium, as it will make the grind in Wordament, and the other two game modes, only take half the time. In my opinion it is well worth it.

Upon reaching level 80, your title will change to "Wordament Expert" and the achievement will unlock.

132770-lo.jpgExceptional Seeker 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find a word worth over 45 points

There is a good chance this will come naturally while earning your 100 stars in Wordament Adventure mode, especially if you play a level that has a star requirement to find a 12-letter word. That is almost guaranteed to be worth 45 points.

The other common way to easily get words worth 45 points or more is from the multi-letter tiles, such as INTER- or TRANS- tiles, which are worth a lot of points on their own. You'll definitely come across these while grinding to level 80 and in adventure map levels. These tiles are usually present in a grid with a long word possible with them, with as INTERNET, INTERNED, INTERVENE, TRANSMIT, TRANSMUTE, TRANSLATE, etc. Whenever you see one of these special tiles worth a lot of points, using them in a medium length word is often enough to earn 45 points.

If you're still struggling, you could use a Boggle Solver, where you input all the letters in the grid and it tells you all possible words.

As soon as you spell the word, the achievement will unlock.

132771-lo.jpgWord Finder 25http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find 30 words without getting all three stars

The only tricky part about this one is purposely avoiding getting all three stars before you find 30 words, since it typically only takes 5-15 words to finish a Wordament session. If you have a grid with a multi-letter tile, you can just avoid it completely, or if you're playing an adventure map level with a star for finding a 12-letter word, it's very easy to avoid finding a 12-letter word.

Then it's just a matter of spamming 3- and 4- letter words all around the grid until you reach 30 words, then finish the session (either by completing all stars or choosing Next Puzzle) and the achievement will unlock.

Find all expert words in a single puzzle

In a single Jumble game, you have to find every possible Expert Word before finishing the game. Expert words are the uncommon words that flash an "Expert Word" pop-up on screen when you find one.

Unless you're a serious pro or incredibly lucky, you will most likely not be able to unlock this on your own unless you have a four letter word and try all possible letter combinations. The best way is to just use an anagram solver such as THIS ONE and type in every possible word it finds. Do this in a quickplay session and purposely don't do the bonus Jumble, that way you don't have to worry about accidentally inputting all of the correct words before you finish all of the Expert words.

The achievement will unlock after inputting all expert words in a single game.

In a Jumble puzzle, find the Longest Word in the list first

You should unlock this naturally by the time you get to level 80 in Jumble, since you'll be doing dozens and dozens of easy quickplay sessions. Many of them consist of only a 4- or 5-letter longest word. If it isn't immediately obvious what the longest word is, you could always use an anagram solver to find the longest word. Type it in first and the achievement will unlock immediately.

Finish a game of Jumble Quickplay

You will be finishing Jumble Quickplay games literally dozens and dozens of times while grinding to level 80, so this achievement will come naturally.

Refer to the "Expert Jumbler" achievement solution for more information.

Solve the Bonus Jumble before getting the first 2 stars

Each Jumble puzzle has a bonus Jumble that is unlocked by finding words that correspond to the keys locking it. For this achievement, you'll need to strategically find all of the key words before completing the blue and purple words so that the bonus Jumble unlocks before you get either star for the blue or purple words. You could also use an anagram solver to get the word list, but either way you're going to have to do a little guesswork much like the Jumble daily challenges.

Once you unlock the bonus Jumble, just find the word to earn that star first, and the achievement will unlock immediately.

Obtain the Expert title for Jumble

The Expert title is unlocked by reaching level 80 in Jumble. Everything you do in Jumble awards you experience: daily challenges, adventure map levels, and quickplay games. Experience is awarded per star earned. Difficulty (such as later adventure levels or quickplay difficulty) does not impact experience earned, although daily challenge difficulty does. However, completing an Expert Jumble daily challenge still rewards you less experience than getting all three stars on an easy Jumble quickplay game.

It is for that reason that the fastest way to level up in Jumble is to play quickplay games on easy difficulty. Naturally you should save this achievement for after you've done everything else related to Jumble to minimize how much experience grinding you need to do. Once you're done with everything else, the fastest way to grind experience is in quickplay.

Load up a quickplay session on easy difficulty. As with all other Jumble achievements, you can feel free to use an anagram solver to finish each quickplay game, but in my opinion it takes longer to switch back and forth and type in all the words from the anagram solver than it does to just solve it yourself. Many of the puzzles are 4- or 5-letter words with only 6-15 total words to find anyway, and you should be pretty used to words that show up at this point, so I found it way faster to just hammer out all the words myself, then if you get stuck, you can check the anagram solver. It's also worth mentioning that if you're playing on a tablet, using your keyboard will make this much faster, assuming you're a fast typer. Having to tap all the letters with your finger is way slower than typing them all out with a keyboard.

One other thing to consider is upgrading to Premium. For $2, you get double experience for a month. I highly recommend going Premium, as it will make the grind in Jumble, and the other two game modes, only take half the time. In my opinion it is well worth it.

Upon reaching level 80, your title will change to "Jumble Expert" and the achievement will unlock.

Obtain 3 stars on a crossword puzzle without using any hints

To obtain three stars on a crossword puzzle, you simply have to complete it. Considering the amount of crossword puzzles you'll have to finish to reach level 80, you should definitely unlock this naturally. This is most easily done on the first 15 crossword puzzles of adventure maps from July 2017 onward. The first 15 puzzles of these maps are only 10x10 grids instead of the standard 15x15, and not only are they smaller but they are incredibly easy. Keep in mind for this achievement that even though you can't use hints, you can Google answers, use a thesaurus, and use "check puzzle" to see if you have any wrong answers as many times as you want, just so long as you don't use a single hint to finish the puzzle.

The achievement will unlock upon getting the third star.

Answer all clues in a puzzle correctly using only one full grid check

This is another one that should come naturally while working towards level 80. The easiest puzzles are the first 15 puzzles in adventure maps July 2017 and onward, since these are only 10x10 grids instead of the standard 15x15. Not only are they smaller but they are incredibly easy. For this achievement, you can use as many hints as you want, and feel free to Google or look up any answers you're not sure about. Make sure you're confident with all of your answers before picking "check puzzle" so that you have no wrong letters. If you have no wrong letters on your first check, the achievement will unlock.

132779-lo.jpgGet a Clue 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Finish a clue with at least 10 letters

The description is worded very strangely for some reason. You have to correctly finish a 10-letter answer, not a clue.

This achievement is unavoidable while working up to level 80, as a good deal of puzzles have 10+ letter words. Many 10x10 and 15x15 grids have entries that span the whole puzzle. You can use hints if you need them, just as long as you have the correct answer entered when you check the puzzle or the word. Once a 10+ letter answer is green from being checked correctly, the achievement will unlock.

132780-lo.jpgBoxer 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Correctly answer all clues along the edges of the grid before entering any other letters

This achievement definitely won't come naturally, so you'll have to make a point to do this at some point. The easiest puzzles to do this on are the first 15 puzzles on adventure maps from July 2017 onward. They are only 10x10 grids instead of the standard 15x15, so you'll only have 8-10 border entries to enter, plus these puzzles are incredibly easy.

As the achievement description says, you cannot enter a letter in any other box before finishing the outside answers. Make sure you're typing in the correct direction and don't accidentally enter your answer down instead of across, for example. Since you can't enter any other answers, if you need the help of crosses to figure out the border words, you could always solve on scrap paper or figure answers out in your head. As far as I'm aware, hints don't affect this achievement either, so you could use them to help figure out answers too.

Once you've got all the answers entered along the edges, you have to choose "check puzzle" to check them all. Once all the edge answers are green, if there are no other letters in the grid, the achievement will unlock.

132781-lo.jpgExpert Solver 45http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Obtain the Expert title for Crosswords

To obtain the Expert title, you have to reach level 80 in Crosswords. Everything you do in Crosswords awards you experience: daily challenges, adventure map levels, and Sunday puzzles. Unfortunately, unlike the other two game types, there is no quickplay option for Crosswords since the puzzles aren't randomly generated. This means that the only way to reach level 80 is by completing adventure maps and Sunday puzzles. Daily challenges will help a little, but the amount of experience they offer is incredibly small compared to how much you get for earning three stars on an adventure map level.

In other sections of the guide I suggested upgrading to Premium, but here is where I highly recommend it. The double experience will save you a ton of time in this game mode, since you have no fast quickplay sessions for Crosswords. If you don't upgrade to Premium, you will need to do literally every Crosswords daily challenge, complete every adventure map, and complete every Sunday puzzle from April 2017 to October 2017 to reach level 80. As you can imagine, this will take a lot of time. Over half of your total playtime with this game will be getting to level 80 in Crosswords.

With the Premium upgrade, I reached level 80 after only 4 adventure maps, skipping the longer bonus puzzles, and only one month of Sunday puzzles. Since all crossword puzzles give you experience based on stars, not on size of the puzzle, the smaller puzzles are most efficient, meaning if you upgrade to Premium, you can do the first 15 puzzles on all adventure maps first, since those are the smallest and easiest, and then only do the second 15 puzzles on a couple maps to mop up whatever experience you still need. The smaller 10x10 puzzles can be completed very quickly. I was averaging 1-2 minutes per puzzle, whereas the Sunday puzzles and bonus puzzles were taking me 10-20 minutes. So being able to focus on the smaller puzzles cuts down time tremendously.

Also keep in mind you can use hints as needed. I would typically go as fast as possible by changing the settings that when you finish entering an answer it automatically jumps to the next answer, and whenever I didn't know an answer just by looking at the clue, I'd use a hint to give me the first letter and then keep moving.

Upon reaching level 80, your title will change to "Crosswords Expert" and the achievement will unlock.

Complete an Expert Crosswords DC, Hard Jumble Quickplay (3 stars), and MP Wordament in one day

As the description states, in one day you must complete an Expert Crosswords daily challenge, earn 3 stars on a hard Jumble quickplay, and play a Wordament multiplayer game.

The latter is the easiest, as you only need to participate in a multiplayer game. You don't need to score well or anything, just finish up a match.

For the hard Jumble quickplay, there is no time limit or limit on incorrect guesses, so you can complete it at your leisure, or you can just use an anagram solver to blow through it quickly.

The Expert Crosswords daily challenge is the only one you'll have to keep an eye out for, since you'll have to wait for one to come up. Since you need to be online for the Wordament multiplayer match, you won't be able to change your date to an earlier month to find an Expert Crosswords daily challenge, otherwise the game won't register them as being on the same day. What you can do though is choose an Expert Crosswords daily challenge from any day of the current month. As soon as you find one and complete it, make sure to tack on the other two requirements that same day.

Once you've finished all three in the same calendar day, the achievement will unlock.

Unlock a Bonus Puzzle (in any mode)

Bonus puzzles are unlocked by earning 3 stars on the level connected to the bonus puzzle. This achievement will unavoidably unlock while obtaining 100% completion on an adventure map.

Unlock a Gate on an Adventure Map

Each adventure map is split up into sections separated by a gate, which you need a set number of stars to open. This achievement will unavoidably unlock while obtaining 100% completion on an adventure map.

Play the Daily Challenge 5 days in a row

Refer to the "Marathon" achievement solution for more information.

132786-lo.jpgMarathon 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Come back each day of an entire month and complete at least one Daily Challenge

This achievement requires you to complete at least one of the three daily challenges every day for a whole month, on that day. This means that you cannot wait until the last day of a month, pull up the daily challenge calendar, and complete at least one challenge per day. You must do at least one on that day. Two other important things to note: it must be a calendar month, not just 30/31 consecutive days in a row, and you must start on the 1st of the month and go in order. You can't jump around.

Obviously one way to do this is to just log into the game every day, starting on the first of the month, and complete at least one daily challenge. But if you're concerned about possibly missing a day, or want to get it over with, you can change the date on your device to unlock this achievement in one sitting.

Start by setting your system date to the first of any month that you haven't completed the daily challenges. Complete at least one daily challenge that day. Then change the date on your system to the 2nd, go back into the daily challenges and complete at least one that day. Repeat for every day of the month until the month is complete. If you want to do it as fast as possible, choose the one daily challenge each day with the lowest difficulty so you can finish it very quickly.

Since you have to complete every daily challenge in a month for the "Strive for Perfection" achievement anyway, it makes sense to pair these two achievements together. It will make this achievement take longer, but since you have to do both achievements anyway, it will save time overall.

Once you finish a daily challenge on the last day of the month, the achievement will unlock.

  • 5 months later...

I’m a bit concerned about some advice in the roadmap. The roadmap indicates that if you buy a month of premium, it only records the end date, so you can change your system time and essentially get more than the month you paid for. Now I’m not one of these sanctimonious twats who gets their panties in a twist because “OMG STEALING!!!” My concern is the possibility of Microsoft noticing someone doing this and banning their account for marketplace theft. I know that IS something they ban for. I don’t know if it has happened in this game for anyone but I do have a lot of concerns that it could, and someone would end up losing everything they’ve been working on for years just to save a few bucks.

I mean if you can’t get it done in a month and also can’t afford to pay for more than one month, just grind it out legit. It’s not worth losing your account over.
