Introduction:

Super Lucky’s Tale is a delightful, playground platformer for all ages that follows Lucky, the ever-optimistic, energetic, and lovable hero, on his quest to find his inner strength and help his sister rescue the Book of Ages from Jinx.

This game is pretty straight forward and shouldn’t cause you any issues in getting the full completion. There’s no tricky, missable or time consuming achievements here and most if not all should be unlocked by the time you complete the story.

Story:

This is where all the achievements will be unlocked. The game is split in 4 worlds - Sky Castle, Veggie Village, Holiday Canyon & Spookington. Within each of these are multiple levels you’ll need to complete. There’s a total of 99 clovers within the game and these are collected by grabbing the 4 clovers that are in each level; 1 x completing the level, 1 x finding the mystery clover/solving a puzzle, 1 x collecting 300 coins and 1 x collecting all 5 LUCKY letter pieces. The rest can be collected by completing the puzzles that show up once certain levels are completed.

Note: I recommend that whenever you can you burrow in the ground. The ‘Tunnel Dweller’ achievement can take some time, so it’s best to get a head start on it right from the beginning.

Apart from the clovers, all other achievements can be unlocked just by plaything through or on certain levels. None are missable as you can replay any level again from each world at any point in the game.

Conclusion:

Overall, you’re looking at real easy completion with no achievements being too much of a challenge.

141991-lo.jpg Gotta Go Fast 10:gsicon:

Fished a Burrow Run level

The first Burrow Run becomes available in the Sky Castle world right after you’ve completed the ‘Lord Ember’s Domain’ level. It can be located right at the back and top of the world, just past the ‘Piggy Peril’ level entrance to your left. Find the foxhole and burrow down.

These levels are very much like the 2D ones but a lot of the stuff within the level can only be grabbed or reached by burrowing underground. These levels only have 1 clover and that’s for simply completing the level, so don’t worry about missing the coins.

141992-lo.jpg Time’s A Flat Circle 10:gsicon:

Finished a 2D level

The first 2D level is ‘Golem Getaway’ in the Sky Castle world. Simply play through it and complete to unlock the achievement.

141993-lo.jpg Lost In A Book 5:gsicon:

Completed the Prologue

This is story related and cannot be missed.

141994-lo.jpg Electric Slide 10:gsicon:

Complete a Sliding Block Puzzle

These puzzles unlock as soon as you complete certain levels within one of the worlds. The first one that’ll become accessible to you is after you complete the ‘Golem Getaway’ level in the Sky Castle world. Once you complete the first one, the second will unlock and then complete that to unlock the third and so forth.

These puzzles are fairly simply and require you to push one or more Lucky statues to the + panels on the floor. Before you move any of them, look at the directions you can go and plan your route. If you mess up don’t worry, there’s a reset button in each room.

141995-lo.jpg They See Me Rollin’ 10:gsicon:

Completed a Marble Minigame

The first Marble Minigame can be accessed once you complete ‘The Mole Patrol’ level in the Veggie Village world. The foxhole entrances will show up right in front of you as you re-enter the world. Your task is to make it to the end of the maze-like board having collected all the coins.

This is reasonably straight forward and not too hard. Just tilt the board ever so gentle to move Lucky in the desired direction. There’s no time limit, so don’t rush.

141997-lo.jpg Down In The Dark 5:gsicon:

Used a Foxhole

Refer to ‘The Fox And The Pound’ for more information.

Foxholes can be found inside and outside of levels. When you’re hoovering over one, hit the :1lt:/:1rt: buttons to dive down into it. This should unlock when you’re in the first level ‘Heavy Heads’ in the Sky Castle world.

141998-lo.jpg Chatterfox 5:gsicon:

Talked to another character

Once you’ve completed the first level ‘Heavy Heads’ in the Sky Castle world, new characters and objects will spawn into the world. Once you’ve got control of Lucky, talk to the 2nd little guy to your left.

He looks half asleep and when approached will have a speech bubble with “…” above his head. Press :1a: to talk to him and the achievement will unlock.

141999-lo.jpg What In Tar-Nation 5:gsicon:

Fell into a tar pit

This can be unlocked in the fifth level ‘Tar Springs’ in the Holiday Canyon world. As soon as the level begins, jump into the tar you’re surround by to unlock it.

142000-lo.jpg The Fox And The Pound 5:gsicon:

Got crushed

This can be unlocked in the first level ‘Heavy Heads’ in the Sky Castle world. Once Master Mittins has let you pass into the second area, you’ll need to head to the left side of the level once you’re able to. Go past the blue cage, past the drums with the bee in the middle and then you’ll see a what looks like a totem pillar with fire in its mouth.

Below him is a foxhole. Head over to it and burrow down - This will unlock the ‘Down In The Dark’ achievement. Once in the new area, you’ll have to fight 3 large flower enemies. Simply let one of them flatten you and the achievement will unlock.

142001-lo.jpg Spelling Bee 10:gsicon:

Collected all LUCKY letters in a single level

Each level has 5 letters scattered about it which spell out ‘LUCKY’. Collecting all 5 will give you one of the 4 clovers of that level. In the open world levels, the letters are scattered about, so make sure you search all around. In the 2D levels though, each letter is in order as you progress. So if you grab the letter ‘C’, but have yet to obtain ‘U’, then you’ve either past it and need to make your way back through the level to find it.

This can be unlocked in any level but you should be grabbing it in the very first level ‘Heavy Head’ in the Sky Castle world.

142002-lo.jpg Tunnel Dweller 15:gsicon:

Burrowed 10,000 meters

This will probably be one of the last achievements you’ll unlock but you should be close by the end of the game. Unfortunately, you cannot just leave your controller and walk away if you find a way to do it like this. Lucky moves when he burrows and when confronted with by an object or none soil floor, he’ll just up and out of the ground.

The best and fasted place to get this is by repeating the 3rd minigame in Spookington which can be located to the left of 'Jinx's Rewrite' and is unlocked by completing the level 'Jinxed!'. Once you've got access to this, just keep repeating until it unlocks.

*Quick tip: There are 3 golem signs which you can hit during this burrow run. For the best burrow route - little enemy sections and jumping out - hit the first 2 and leave the 3rd. Also, don't let go of the burrow button when coming to a spiked gap etc, as Lucky will jump out and back in automatically.

142003-lo.jpg Blind Me With Science 75:gsicon:

Defeated Tess and Petunia

This is story related and cannot be missed.

Tess and Petunia is the boss of the Veggie Village world.

142004-lo.jpg The Master Of Blaster 75:gsicon:

Defeated General Buttons and Fluffinstuff

This is story related and cannot be missed.

General Buttons and Fluffinstuff is the boss of the Holiday Canyon world.

142005-lo.jpg It’s More Than Luck 125:gsicon:

Defeated Jinx and retrieved the Book of Ages

This is story related and cannot be missed.

Jinx is the boss of the Spookington world.

142006-lo.jpg Helpful Coop-eration 40:gsicon:

Helped the Wormal farmer gather his chickens

This can be obtained in the first level ‘Scrambled Eggs’ in the Veggie Village world.

Head over the bridge at the start and then to the right. You’ll see 2 chickens running around a small fenced off area. In total, you’ll need to find and capture 8 chickens for the Wormal. To do some, simply attack them in the direction of the fenced area making sure that they land in. Below are the locations of all 8 chickens.

  • 1/2: Running around the fenced area
  • 3/4: Running in and out of the bushes to the right
  • 5: Behind the boxes next to the barn
  • 6: On top of the highest roof of the barn (hit the cog wheel to ride up)
  • 7: On the small roof on the right of the barn which is above the boxes
  • 8: Behind the locked door of the barn. Ride the cog wheel up half way and jump off to your left. His the golem disc to open the door.

Once all are within the fenced area, you’ll receive the LUCKY letter ‘U’ and the achievement.

142007-lo.jpg Rabbits In A Maze 40:gsicon:

Retrieve King Bunny’s carrot within the Garlic Kings maze

This can be unlocked in the ‘Pungent Paths’ level in the Veggie Village world. As soon as you access the maze, hit the switch right in front of you. Now burrow left and under the fence where the carrot is. Pick it up, and move it to the left - so the other half of the fence.

Drop it, head back to the switch, hit it and now go back and pick up the carrot. Wait for the fireballs to go past and keep heading left to where King Bunny will be sitting on a stump. Place the carrot on the smaller stump next to hime to receive the LUCKY letter ‘L’ and achievement.

142008-lo.jpg All Float On 40:gsicon:

Retrieve the missing floaty to the Yeti

This can be unlocked in the fifth level ‘Tar Springs’ in the Holiday Canyon world. As you begin the level head forwards to the Yeti next to the hot tube and you’ll talk to his automatically. He’ll ask you to help him find his inner tube.

Now head to the left and jump onto the platform with the flower enemy and kill it. Instead of heading right up the bone bridge, jump onto the platform to your right and behind the bush you’ll find the inner tube. Simply grab it and bring it back to the Yeti to unlock the achievement.

142009-lo.jpg Mustroom Mystery 40:gsicon:

Solved the mushroom puzzle in Loopy Lanterns

‘Loopy Lanterns’ is the second level you’ll have access to within the Spookington world. As soon as you enter the level, head right. Jump on the crocodile, then onto the rotating log and finally onto the ledge. Now jump up to the larger platform area with the boxes. Destroy all the boxes but be careful as 2 of them are enemies.

Once the area is clear, you should spot 5 odd shaped mushrooms scattered about but in close proximity.

  • 1: To the right
  • 2: Behind the boxes
  • 3: To the left
  • 4: Up high on the rocks above 2/3
  • 5: On the rock pillar a little further to your left

Simply hit/attack all 5 to make them glow and you’ll be presented with a LUCKY letter ‘L’ and the achievement.

Thanks for the guide.

I disagree with the 1/10 difficulty rating though. I consider 1/10 to mean that almost everything can be done on the first try, with almost no deaths. If some part of the game takes more than 3 attempts, the game has some level of difficulty.

The Maka guides have many instances of timed portions where he says multiple attempts may be necessary. There's also a part where he dies and has to edit out the death.

The controls are sometimes a little unresponsive and some jumps are hard to judge in terms of time or distance. And boss battles have random luck in terms of which patterns you'll see. Personally, I'm still trying to beat the final boss. Based on comments on TA, I'm not the only one having trouble defeating him.

My rating would be 3/10. Any teenager or adult with some patience can get it done, but there are probably going to be some deaths and retries. Maybe 2/10 would be fair. But 1/10 is just too optimistic.

I have to agree, as my nephew has been playing the game and has dying loads. It's not just adults that play games it's little kids as well.
