Dirty130
Christmas Greetings, XBA! Among other things, we'll be presenting the Best of 2017 Challenge Club to you in the new year, but like most things, we like to include our community wherever possible. You never know what others think until you give them the chance to express their thoughts, right? Now, we don't want this to turn into a thread with debates about which game is more deserving, etc. So, a simple layout of the Challenge Club's tiers and the games within is all that is necessary. Please note that the first tier should include indie titles entirely. Also, keep in mind that once live in the new year, tiers can be completed in any order. While not displayed due to this being an example, each tier will have an award associated with it. Edit: To be perfectly clear, the tiers you create should include games based on the quality of the game and it standing out for you among other games released in 2017. This doesn't necessarily mean it had "good", "easy" or "fun" achievements attached to it. Though, there isn't much point in creating an "impossible" tier either, so attempt to create tiers that are not only filled with great games from 2017, but also ones that have an accessible achievement list. It's an awkward balance, Right? This is, of course, part the fun that goes into creating a Challenge Club like this! We'll be presenting the new Challenge Club during January 2018. Example: Tier 1 (Indie Games) Cuphead Super Lucky's Tale RiME Tacoma What Remains of Edith Finch Tier 2 (Retail Games) Dishonored: Death of the Outsider Halo Wars 2 South Park: The Fractured But Whole Tekken 7 Yooka-Laylee Tier 3 (Retail Games) Assassin’s Creed: Origins Call of Duty: WWII Injustice 2 Prey Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Tier 4 (Retail Games) Destiny 2 For Honor Forza Motorsport 7 Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Edited January 3, 2018 by Dirty130 Added more detail upon request. NShepherd N7
Okay, time for Shep's Awesome-Obviously-Correct-And-Perfect-List-Of-2017-Games Tier 1 (Indie Games) CupHead What Remains of Edith Finch Tacoma RIME Super Lucky's Tale Tier 2 (Horror Games) Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Prey The Evil Within 2 Little Nightmares Observer Tier 3 (Multiplayers) Destiny 2 Call of Duty: WWII Star Wars Battlefront II For Honor Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands Tier 4 (Epic Single Player) Mass Effect: Andromeda Middle-Earth: Shadow of War South Park: The Fractured But Whole Assassin's Creed: Origins Dishonored: Death of the Outsider What do you guys think? By separating them into groups of "genres" that let's us skip having to put them in tiers of difficulty. Obviously indie games will be quicker to beat than massive RPG's, but I think this looks like a pretty varied list. I didn't include some obviously good games, simply because the time or skill to beat them would prevent many people from earning the awards. And after all, we WANT people to get these awards. Games I did not include but are good games include: Forza 7, Outlast 2, Wolfenstein 2, Injustice 2, and Halo Wars 2 (a lot of 2's in there). Also if anyone is curious to see the highest rated games of 2017, here's a list on Metacritic sorted top to bottom. Click here.

Since Wolfenstein was well received and is pretty ridiculous, having it's own tier seems appropriate.
The Pants Party
Tier 1 (Indie Games) Battle Chasers: Nightwar Pit People Masquerada: Songs and Shadows Life is Strange: Before the Storm Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom Tier 2 (Retail Games) Mass Effect: Andromeda South Park: The Fractured But Whole The Surge Destiny 2 ELEX I played a LOT of older games in 2017. Hit the backlog hard with RPGs I'd played on my old tag to recomplete them, so not a ton of new games to even pick from. Also played a ton of Overwatch and had a few games that kept getting DLC. These were the best of my batch though. Edited December 29, 2017 by The Pants Party
