DLC: Forsaken

Difficulty: 4/10

Time to 240:1gs: 50-60 Hours

Unobtainable: None

Step 1: Enter the Dreaming City and Unlock Triumphs

I am finally finishing/re-writing this guide in May of 2023 after the Lightfall expansion has released and the game has changed a TON since the Forsaken expansion came out five years ago. The Dreaming City used to be locked behind story content, but can now simply be accessed from the Destinations map. Head there for a quick, free achievement. Then open your menu and go to the Triumphs section and claim anything you've unlocked, which if you've played the base game and any expansions to this point should be enough to get you over 5k for that achievement. If not, continue to work on the game's other achievements and that will come along the way.

Step 2: Dungeon, Nightfall, and Raid

You will need to complete the Shattered Throne dungeon for an achievement, and one of three Forsaken-specific Nightfall missions for another. Doing these activities will help you continue to level up your gear and be ready for the raid. At this point, the Last Wish raid is quite old and you should be able to find a group of Guardians to carry you through it. If you have one of the more recent expansions, you likely got a Light boost and you'll be ready right away anyway.

Step 3: Triumph Seal, Exotics, and Collections Badge

The most time consuming aspects of this expansion are unlocking a Triumph Seal, getting all the Forsaken exotics, and completing a Collections badge. All of these will take multiple weeks of playing, though that can be spread out quite a bit. See the guide below for tips on the easiest method for each that I chose to do.

Earn 5,000 Triumph points.

Triumph Points are earned from nearly every activity you will do in Destiny. You can see a full list of available triumphs in the character menu, and need to return there to actually mark something as complete once you've met the requirements to increase your score. You'll likely have earned enough for this achievement if you played the base game, and most definitely if you've done any number of the expansions. If not, continue working through the rest of the DLC achievements and check back occasionally to unlock more triumphs.

Collect 10 Forsaken Exotic weapons or armor.

See @An Exotic Journey for more info.

Complete a Triumph Seal.

Triumph Seals are quite the arduous task in Destiny, though the two PVP seals are going to be your best best for this achievement. These would be Dredgen (Gambit) and Glorious (Crucible). I personally obtained Glorious.

You need a total of nine unique triumphs to unlock the Glorious seal. When you check in-game, you'll see that there are only nine available, though this isn't actually true. There are a few hidden triumphs that also count toward the seal and once they unlock they will reveal themselves. Below is the full list of available triumphs that count:

  • Powerlifter: Earn 200 points by completing objectives in any Crucible playlist while using Strand, Void, or Solar. - This one is quite obvious, just equip one of those three subclasses and play matches. It will come with time.
  • Forever Valorous: Earn 10 Crucible ranks across all seasons. - This one is quite obvious, just play matches to earn ranks. Will come on your way to resetting your rank three times.
  • Prestigious: Reset your Crucible rank 3 times across all seasons. - Another one that simply comes with time. Play many, many matches and once you hit Rank 17, visit Shaxx in the Tower to reset your rank. Repeat two more times.
  • Undefeated:  Win 5 matches of different gametypes. - Pretty self-explanatory. There are three game types in ranked modes, so you'll need to play outside of those to get two more.
  • Gold Medalist: Acquire 3 medals in the Gold Tier category. - This one is pretty tough, as the gold medals are for things that don't happen often. However, multiple copies of the same medal stack, and I was able to get this with three "Annihilation" medals, for killing all three members of the enemy team in quick succession.
  • Placement Series Matches: Complete placement in the Competitive playlist. - Another easy one, just play 7 matches in Comp, win or lose.
  • Decathlete: Complete 10 matches of different gametypes. - Oddly, this one unlocked for me despite only playing Comp, which only has three game modes. Might be bugged, but if that doesn't work for you just explore all the different game mode. Don't need to win the matches, so it's just a time effort.
  • Division Debut: Complete matches in Competitive 3v3 playlist. You need 100 "points" for this one, and wins give more points. Once again, just a matter of time for this.
  • Get Those Reps: Earn 200 points by completing objectives in the Competitive 3v3 playlist. - Yet again, just a time sink here. Keep playing until you're done. If you're skilled, it'll come faster.
  • Division Promotion: Successfully complete a Promotion Series and move to a higher division. - Once you complete the placement matches, you'll likely be set in Silver or Gold. Each division has three ranks (Silver III, Silver II, Silver I for instance). Once you earn enough points when in the Rank I section, you'll now be in a "sudden death" type of event where you need to win two of the next three matches to be promoted.
  • Climbing the Ladder: Achievement Platinum Division in any season. - This is the most difficult one to complete as it requires some real skill. Go for one of the other options in the list, but know this is available.

Complete any 9 of the available 11 triumphs to unlock the seal and the achievement. Almost all of them are simply a matter of time, with the Gold Tier medals, division promotion, and getting to Platinum being the only skill-based ones. And technically, if you place in Bronze or higher you could then play terribly and purposely get demoted to then try and promote yourself back up. If you're already bad enough that you place in Copper, find some friends to carry you through!

If you'd prefer to play Gambit, this video has a rundown of all the triumphs required for the Dredgen seal.

The other two seals that will unlock the achievement are Rivensbane (which requires a flawless run in the Last Wish raid among other things - not recommended), and Cursebreaker (which requires a ton of work and exploration in the Dreaming City - can be done but less than ideal).

Complete a Collections Badge.

You can view the various Collections in the menu, though many of them can not be completed as of March 2023 due to vaulted content. Currently, the two easiest to complete would be "Exotics: Red War" or "Exotics: Curse of Osiris and Warmind" - I did the latter of the two personally. Curse of Osiris and Warmind had a total of 18 exotics to collect. Three of them must be purchased at the Exotic Archive in the Tower: Polaris Lance, Worldline Zero, and Sleeper Stimulant. The other 15 must be obtained via exotic engrams or purchased from Xur. Exotic engrams always give you an item you don't own, so visiting Xur weekly and purchasing 1-2 engrams will get you this achievement in time.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/4492/157150-lo.jpg High-Stakes Play 20:1gs:

Win a Gambit match.

Gambit is a new PVP/PVE hybrid game mode introduced in the Forsaken expansion. You can access this from the Destinations map. The objective is to kill enemies on the map and collect "motes" that they drop, then deposit these in the "bank" to increase your score. Doing this will also send a "blocker" to your enemy's side of the match, shutting down their bank until they kill the Taken enemies that spawn. Every 25 motes deposited will open a portal allowing one member of your team to "invade" the enemy's side and attempt to kill them, delaying their ability to deposit motes in the bank and progress their match. However, if the invader is killed, he drops additional motes for the other team.

You need to quickly bank motes for your team, and balance the risk of invading to slow the other team and getting killed which will allow them to score even faster - hence the name of the game, Gambit. Once a team gets to 100 motes deposited, a large Taken boss will spawn. The first team to kill this boss wins the game. During this phase, invading the enemy is crucial, as any kills you claim as an invader will heal the boss on the enemy's side, delaying their chance of getting the kill first.

Defeat a Forsaken Nightfall Boss.

See @Heart of Darkness from the base game's achievement list for general info on Nightfall strikes. For this achievement, you must complete either Warden of Nothing, The Hollowed Lair, or The Corrupted while they are the featured Nightfall strike to unlock the achievement.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/4492/157153-lo.jpg Wishing for the Best 40:1gs:

Complete the "Last Wish" Raid.

This achievement unlocks by finishing the final encounter of the Last Wish raid. In other words, you do not need to complete the entire raid to unlock the achievement, simply be present when completing the Queenswalk section of the raid. A comprehensive breakdown of this raid can be found here. You will likely not have too much trouble finding a group to carry you through this if you're not that highly leveled. The Destiny community is pretty helpful.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/4492/157148-lo.jpg Heart of the Awoken 20:1gs:

Enter the Dreaming City.

The Dreaming City is a new hub location in the Forsaken expansion, and as of March 2023 is a permanent option on the Destinations map. Simply select it and once you load into the area the achievement will unlock.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/4492/157149-lo.jpg An Exotic Journey 20:1gs:

Collect 15 Forsaken Exotic weapons or pieces of armor.

There are 12 different Forsaken exotic weapons and 4 different pieces of armor for each class. For this achievement you only need to collect a total of 15 in any combination. Most of them are quite simple to get and can come from random exotic engram drops, or purchased from Xur. Others will need to be done via exotic quests. The full list of available items is as follows:

Weapons:

  • Ace of Spades - Purchase from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
  • The Chaperone - Complete the "Blast From the Past" exotic quest (Shaw Han)
  • Malfeasance - Complete the "Darkness in the Light" exotic quest (obtained during Gambit)
  • Cerberus +1 - Drop or Xur
  • Wish-Ender - Complete the "Wish-Ender" exotic quest (The Last Wish raid)
  • Trinity Ghoul - Drop or Xur
  • Wavesplitter - Drop or Xur
  • Lord of the Wolves - Drop or Xur
  • One Thousand Voices - Drop only, last chest in The Last Wish raid

  • Geomag Stabilizers - Drop or Xur

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/4492/157152-lo.jpg Nothing Left to Say 40:1gs:

Complete the "Shattered Throne" dungeon.

The Shattered Throne was the first dungeon added to Destiny 2. This achievement simply asks that you complete it. You can likely do this solo, but bring a full fireteam just to be safe. A full walkthrough of this dungeon can be found here.
