Introduction:

Having defeated the Campaigner, Turok throws the Chronocepter into a waiting volcano to destroy it. Unfortunately the blast awakens an even deadlier force - The Primagen. Once again a Turok is tasked with restoring peace to the land and stopping the Primagen from merging Earth with the nether world.

The Dinosaur Hunter Returns

Fight your way through 35 different types of enemies with bouncing bellies, blinking eyes, stretching tentacles and snapping jaws. From Prehistoric Raptors, to evolved Flesh Eaters, to your final battle with the Mother of all beasts, you’ll want to defeat all of them!

Now the game, one of the finest examples of an FPS of it's generation has been restored and enhanced with a new visual engine and exciting new features by the people at Nightdive Studios.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

Your first step should be to play though the game, if you want to get everything in the one playthrough this should be on the Hardcore difficulty.

Hardcore difficulty can be quite brutal, they enemies do more damage, there is more of them and you only have 1 life, however they have added a quick save and quick load feature to the game to enable you to save anywhere, it is recommended that you save often especially if you make it through an encounter without taking too much damage, otherwise if you're not happy just load, you can even map the quick save and quick load buttons to ones that aren't otherwise in use from the games settings. See "I AM TUROK!" for more information.

It is also recommended that you play through the levels in the following order which is generally accepted to be the easiest method and minimises backtracking 1,3,2,5,4,6. After you have completed level 6 it is recommended that you make a separate save so you can back track if you have missed something before entering the fight with the Primagen.

By playing through and completing the game you will unlock "Keymaster", Mother of All Battles", "Off With Her Head", "We don't need no strategy guide!", "Crushing Conclusion" & "I AM TUROK!"

The game has quite a few secret areas which are required for "Turok: Treasure Hunter", so make sure you follow the guide so you don't miss any. You will also wish to collect all 5 talismans and the 6 parts of the Nuke weapon, doing so will unlock "Sacred Collector", "By Your Powers Combined...", "Beware... Oblivion is at hand" & "Master of Destruction".

Finally there are 3 miscellaneous achievements throughout the game which are for killing enemies in a certain way, "Brain Surgeon", "Pyromaniac" & "I thought only demons did that" you should try to get these at your earliest convenience, see there achievements for more information.

Mop-Up:

You should have everything by now and all achievements are easily completed in the same playthrough however if you are missing any make sure you have saved before entering the Primagen fight that way you can revisit any levels you may need to without having to replay the entire game.

Conclusion:

Turok 2 is brilliant game and certainly the high point in the series made even better with the modern controls and remastered graphics, whilst it has its difficult moments it is still a relatively quick completion.

Achievement Guide:

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147210-lo.jpg Brain Surgeon 35:1gs:

Kill 20 enemies with the Cerebral Bore in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

You will first obtain the Cerebral Bore (probably one of the greatest video game weapons of all time) on level 4 or 5 depending on the order you play through the levels in, The weapon can lock on to most "Intelligent" enemies and fire a homing projectile that will bore into the enemies skull then explode killing them in 1 shot, Whilst ammo at times can be quite scarce there is more than enough to get this achievement and indeed if you find a place with infinite respawning ammo (the fake warp portals are normally good for this) you can replenish all your ammo then.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147211-lo.jpg Sacred Collector 75:1gs:

Collect all 5 sacred eagle feathers in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

With the exception of the First level each level will have a sacred eagle feather, normally located near to the warp portal for which it is needed to obtain the talisman. See "By Your Powers Combined...." for more information.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147212-lo.jpg Master of Destruction 75:1gs:

Assemble the Nuke weapon in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

On each level there are 2 warp portals, one is used to obtain the games talismans, the other is a "Fake" portal, filled with enemies that you must progress through, the portals can be quite difficult to complete so it is recommended you take your time and be stocked up with health and ammo before entering.

They all however have regenerating health and ammo located somewhere within them and upon completing each one you are rewarded with a piece of the nuke weapon, although obtained very late in the game can be handy in the final fight against the Primagen.

The locations of the portals can be found in the following.

Discover the first Oblivion chamber in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

On each level there are 2 warp portals, the 2nd one of these on the first level is a "Fake" warp portal that will lead you to an oblivion chamber.

Once you get to an area with a trench that leads to the exit portal, if you climb out of the trench you will find two houses that are linked together across all 3 stories.

Once you have cleared these houses make sure to hit both switches in the ground floor areas, turn around and you will see a door and tunnel have opened up on the opposite side to the trench, follow this to the warp portal.

Once you reach the warp portal, if you look over the side of the ledge you will see a walkway you can drop down to with the activation switch on it, push this then climb back up and enter the portal.

By completing the portal you will also obtain your first Nuke weapon part see "Master of Destruction" for more information.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147214-lo.jpg Keymaster 75:1gs:

Collect all 6 Primagen keys in a single player game

Story related can't be missed

Each level has 1 Primagen key that must be collected to be able to access the final boss fight and complete the game, most of the time these will be inaccessible until you have collected a talisman from a later level.

Port of Adia

Requires the Leap of Faith Talisman from level 2

[ame]

[/ame]

River of Souls

Requires Breath of Life Talisman from level 3

[ame]

[/ame]

Death Marshes

Requires the Breath of Life Talisman obtained from this level

[ame]

[/ame]

Lair of the Blind Ones

Requires the Whispers Talisman from level 5

[ame]

[/ame]

Hive of the Mantids

Requires Eye of Truth from Level 6

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9et8Cyn8yo[/ame]

Primagens Lightship

This Key is slightly different, to access it you must disable the force field by pressing 4 switches, 1 in each area of the ship, the one in the 2nd area can only be obtained after you have the eye of truth talisman so you will have to backtrack to it once you have obtained this.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147215-lo.jpg By Your Powers Combined.... 75:1gs:

Acquire all 5 talismans in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss although most are required to complete the game the only one that can be missed is on the Lair of the Blind Ones

Every level with the exception of the first one contains a different talisman you can obtain, this is a 2 part process, first you must obtain the sacred eagle feathers then take them to the warp portal, normally located nearby.

Get two enemies of different species to fight each other in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

This can be obtained whenever you find more than one type of enemy in an area and as early as the first level. Your best option is to find an enemy with a distance attack and another enemy with a closer range attack then try and manoeuvre them into the middle, should the further enemy manage to hit the one who is closer to you it should instigate a fight between the 2 of them. Ideally this is made easier the closer the 2 enemies are to each other.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147217-lo.jpg Mother of All Battles 100:1gs:

Defeat the Mother

Story related can't be missed

The Mother is the boss fight at the end of level 6 - "The Primagen's Lightship", you will receive this achievement after you defeat her.

  • Stick to the outside of the arena
  • Make sure you are covered under the large pipes when she pulls rocks down from above.
  • Health and ammo will respawn under the pipes and in the middle but it is scarce and risky to reach at times.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147218-lo.jpg Off With Her Head 100:1gs:

Defeat the Queen

Story related can't be missed

The Queen is the boss fight at the end of level 5 - "The Hive of the mantids", your best chance is to keep moving around the edges of the arena and use weapons like the firestorm cannon. Ammo should respawn for any weapons you don't have full so try and collect it when you can.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147219-lo.jpg We don't need no strategy guide! 50:1gs:

Complete all missions and acquire all level keys in Lair of the Blind Ones in a single player game

Story related can't be missed

Technically you can complete the level without collecting all keys but you will need to collect them all to progress to the final level anyway. This will unlock at the end of the level.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147220-lo.jpg Pyromaniac 35:1gs:

Set 50 enemies on fire with the flamethrower in a single player game

You will obtain the flamethrower on level 4 or 5 depending on the order in which you play the game. It's ammo can be depleted quite quickly and is quite sparse so try to use it sparingly, it is probably best used against the mites on level 5 as lots of them die easily, also if you find an area with respawning ammo try using it there and returning to it as and when you need.

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147221-lo.jpg Turok: Treasure Hunter 80:1gs:

Find all secret areas in a single player game

This is missable if you don't create a separate save before entering the final boss.

There are a total of 30 secrets within the game, you can backtrack as necessary to find them if you miss one so don't worry too much but it is quicker if you get them as you are going along. Also if you are playing on hardcore whilst life tokens won't appear the secrets are still collectable you just need to enter the area, a notification will appear on screen to let you know you have obtained the secret.

Each level has the following secrets

Level 1 - The Port of Adia (5 secrets)

Level 2 - The River of Souls (5 secrets)

Level 3 - The Death Marshes (9 secrets - NB: the last 3 require the eye of truth obtained in level 6)

Level 4 - Lair of the Blind Ones (3 secrets)

Level 5 - Hive of the Mantids (4 secrets)

Level 6 - Primagens Lightship (4 secrets)

For their locations see the video below or alternatively visit this thread HERE for a text guide.

Defeat the Primagen

Story related can't be missed

This is the final boss fight and can be quite tough.

  • Make a save before entering the fight
  • Try and ensure you have full health and ammo before entering
  • Stick to the outside of the arena but not too close to the edge.
  • When he drops bombs from the ceiling avoid the middle and keep moving.
  • When the fly's come you could either use the nuke or use another gun to shoot them out the air and save the nuke for the primagen
  • For the Primagen himself aim for the parts glowing red.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5029/147223-lo.jpg I AM TUROK! 125:1gs:

Complete the single-player game on Hardcore difficulty

Hardcore is the new difficulty and it can be quite brutal, you only have one life, enemies do more damage, there's more of them and some of them respawn whenever you reenter an area, but it should still not be too hard if you do the following.

  • Save and Save often, make a quick save if you are happy with how you got through an encounter with enemies.
  • Consider mapping quick save and quick load to unused controller buttons.
  • It is recommended you play through the levels in the order 1,3,2,5,4,6 as this is generally considered the easiest.
  • Whilst at times it is unavoidable try to minimise backtracking, every time you teleport to an area enemies will reappear
  • Throughout the game you will come across areas of respawning health/ammo make sure you stick around until you are maxed out.
  • Try to avoid health pickups that will be wasted, i.e. if you are only 2 health off the normal max don't pickup a 10 health pickup, wait till you need it.
  • The same holds true for ammo, don't pickup what you cant use, you'll need it later
