Introduction:

 

Welcome to The One We Found, a first person survival horror game. The game sees you going into a mental hospital and doing the usual in a survival horror - shooting zombies. There are thankfully not many actual survival aspects to worry about in this game. It's mainly about conserving ammo. The story is really short and is made even shorter by knowing the lock combinations, allowing you to skip a few levels entirely. The achievements are very simple - beat the story, grab a couple miscellaneous achievements along the way, and then grind out kills in Survival mode. It's a very fast completion that should take around 2-3 hours on average. Let's get started.

 

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

 

Step 1: Complete the Story

 

There are a total of 11 levels plus a prologue in the story mode. Levels alternate between reality inside the mental hospital and then levels inside your head, which are all almost identical with minor tweaks. There are two very simple miscellaneous achievements in the first level but that's it. Just complete the remaining levels to unlock all achievements in this mode. Unfortunately levels don't have any checkpoints, so if you die you have to start a level over, which is quite the pain. Also, like any survival horror game, you should be conserving your ammo. Don't shoot frivolously.

 

Each level's achievement solution contains a text walkthrough of the level. Follow the guide and you'll be able to finish the story in well under 2 hours.

 

Step 2: Survival Mode

 

If you've ever played a Call of Duty zombies mode, this mode will feel very familiar. Zombies spawn in waves, you start with just a pistol, get score for kills and headshots, and can buy ammo, new guns, and upgrades from what's on the walls. The only achievement specific to this mode is killing a cumulative total of 1000 zombies. So it doesn't matter how well you do, just keep playing games to get kills until you finally unlock "Zombie Zealot." If you haven't died 20 times, your deaths here will count towards "Death is Only The Beginning" and if you need to grind them out, just let the first wave of zombies kill you over and over.

 

Mop-Up:

 

If you missed either of the two miscellaneous achievements in the first level of the story, simply load up the level and grab them to wrap up this completion.

 

 

Conclusion:

 

The One We Found isn't a very good game. The controls are very awkward, the story is told mainly through documents lying around (which, in my opinion, is a very poor way to tell a story), and the levels are all very bland. There aren't any enemy varieties, and you walk painfully slow. Thankfully the completion is very easy and fast, making this mainly only good for gamerscore or a quick completion.

Die 20 Times

 

This is a cumulative total across all of Story Mode and Survival Mode combined. It's highly unlikely you'll die anywhere near this many times while playing through the story (I had only died 2-3 times) but when you play Survival mode to grind out kills for the "Zombie Zealot" achievement you will definitely die many times. If, after unlocking that achievement, you still haven't died 20 times, simply load up a survival map and let the first zombies kill you, retry and repeat until the achievement unlocks.

You must destroy the horde.

 

This achievement requires you to kill a cumulative total of 1000 zombies in Survival mode only. Kills in Story mode don't count. Survival mode works almost identically to Call of Duty zombies: zombies spawn in waves, you earn points for kills and more for headshots, and you can use those earned points to buy ammo, new guns, or upgrade existing guns.

 

The quickest and simplest way to rack up kills is to just play the first map Delirium. Stay in the corner you start in, and when the first zombie wave comes just get headshots on them all. After wave 1 you'll have 1840 points. Buy the pistol upgrade on the wall next to you with :1y: and it'll also give you ammo. For waves 2, 3, and 4 just keep getting headshots on the slow zombies, and after each wave buy another pistol upgrade with :1y: and ammo with :1x:. You'll have to buy one, look away from the pistol, then look back and buy the other because the game is poorly programmed.

 

Staying in the starting corner should allow you to easily get to wave 5 and result in around 60-80 kills per session, depending on how well you do in wave 5. It's highly unlikely you'll complete wave 5 with just a pistol but it doesn't matter. After you die, retry and repeat until the achievement unlocks.

 

While there is no achievement tracking in the normal sense, from the main menu you can choose Achievements and see in that menu your progress towards this achievement.

Since there is no achievement for the prologue, I have included a walkthrough for it here.

 

Prologue

 

Walk forward and on your right before the gate is a flashlight on a rock in the light. Pick it up, then go through the gate. Head straight towards the building but then go to the left side around the building and through the metal gate to the rear of the building. Go to the backside of the central building and climb up the ladder. Follow the boards to an electrical box. Press :1x: to interact with it and turn off the power. Head back down where you climbed up and go to the back of the level (with your back to the high area you were just in) to go inside a room with a desk and a computer. Walk around the back of the desk and go to the drawer on the left side. Grab the key inside by pressing :1x: to interact with it and pick it up, then :1a: to take it. Now leave the room and head all the way back around to the front of the building and go into the front door with the key to complete the prologue.

 

Level 1

 

At the start of the level you can grab some flashlight batteries from the cabinet next to you, then head out around the desk and to the open room. You'll see numbers painted around the room. From the door with the 3 on it, go right (when facing it) and you'll see a table with a gramophone on it. Press :1x: on it to unlock the "Mortimer" achievement. Now head to the 3 door and use the keypad to its left. Enter 2223 to open the door. Head through the door and immediately turn left to see a watermelon on the floor. Pick it up by pressing and holding :1ls: and then drop it to break it, unlocking the "Watermelon Madman" achievement.

 

Do a 180 and go into the bathroom. You'll see 5 levers on the wall. Pull them in order from left to right and then press the Test button below them. Leave the bathroom and make a right. Follow the hall and path all the way to the very end and go in the last door on your left. Go to the nightstand and grab the key from it. Leave and head all the way back to the room with the painted numbers in the beginning. Make a right when you enter and open the 2 door. Go up the stairs and follow the path to the end of the hallway, ending the level.

Walk straight forward to the door at the end of the hall and that'll end this level.

Turn around and pick up the pistol on the ground. Turn back around and go through the metal gate. In the next room, kill the two zombies. Killing the first will unlock the "Patient" achievement. Go to the door opposite where you entered and there will be a console. Pull the lever on the left of it. Backtrack to where you picked up your gun and now you can open the metal gate on the left. Grab the other pistol and ammo.

 

Head back to the zombie room with all the crystals. When you enter, go to the big crystal cluster on the right and interact with it, then go down the left side of the room. Skip the first cluster and interact with the second, then go back and interact with the first. That'll open the door to leave.

 

Follow the path around, killing the lone zombie, and down into the pit. Interact with the computer there to open the door out. Head back up and through the open door. Grab the first aid kit on the left and the can of food. Shoot the crates and grab the ammo in them. Up ahead at the fork there is a zombie on the left and one on the right. Lure both toward you and kill them both. Make a left at the fork and right before you get to the metal gate, make a left and go through the gate. Grab the fuse on the table and go down the hall to place the fuse. Pick up ammo in the room too. Now go back to the metal gate you were approaching previously. Kill the zombie and go through it.

 

Follow the path up the hill, killing the three zombies, up the stairs, all the way down the concrete hallway to the doorway at the very end. Go in the room and interact with the console. Leave the room and enter the door on your right as you walk down the hall. Go to the opposite end of the room and grab the fuse on the floor below the console. Backtrack all the way to the fork in the path and go right this time (straight, as you're backtracking). Place the fuse at the gate and follow the path to the stairs to end the level.

Walk forward and enter the vent on your left. Follow the vent until you see a creature crawl out from the right side. You need to pass where he came from and enter the second opening on the right. You can wait for him to move away or just walk past him. He'll hit you and you'll take damage but it won't be enough to kill you and your health will regenerate. After making the second right, you'll be in a room full of computers. Interact with the computer station on the left wall with six monitors. Backtrack through the vent, again avoiding the creature (or walking past him) until you get to where you originally entered the vent.

 

Before exiting the vent, be aware there is a demon glowing red slowly walking around this area. If it sees you it'll yell and run at you and try to grab you. If it grabs you it's an instant death and you have to start the level over. So peek out and look left and right. If you don't see it, you're clear. If you do see it, wait for it to walk to the right and around the corner. Once the coast is clear, leave the vent and go left to the five levers on the wall. From left to right, pull the first, the last, the middle, the second, and then the last one, then press the Test button. That'll open the gate. Walk through it to end the level.

Head forward through the gate and follow the path. Grab the first aid kit and ammo on the ground by the body, then more on the table. Go forward to the gate and enter the code 7394. Kill the 3 zombies in this room and head down to the door. Now you need to shoot the three red clusters of crystals around the room. They're on the walls high up. Shooting all three opens the door. Kill the zombie inside and pull the lever on your right immediately after entering. Kill one more zombie on your way down. Before getting to the next gate you'll pass lockers. The first on the right has a rifle inside.

 

Head through the gate and follow the path to the door at the end. Turn right and climb up the ladder. Go to the room and interact with the console at the opposite side. Go back down the ladder and the door is open. Inside this room is around 8 or so zombies plus the red demon that screams and instant kills you. So kill the zombies. If the red one comes at you, you can always run back out of the room the way you came in. It won't follow you. Once all zombies are dead the exit door will open. Run past the red demon and through the door and you'll be safe.

 

Follow the path down the stairs and you'll kill another zombie. You'll eventually come to a computer room with another zombie to kill. Kill it and then follow the path to end the level.

When you start the red demon will be in front of you. Go up to it and lure it back and around the corner. Then run away from it and run all the way to the gate. Enter the code 5685 to open the gate and walk forward to end the level.

Follow the path down to the room with crystals. Interact with the one on the far right in the lower level, then the one on the left, then the one on the right by the door. Walk forward and on the left you'll see a cupboard. Past it is a poster on the ground. Take the key and use it on the upper right cabinet of the cupboard. Grab the key there and use it to open the gate. Go forward and grab the rifle and all the ammo on the bed. Get all your guns loaded and then open the door.

 

Kill the couple zombies that come in and then proceed. Follow the linear path over the rope bridges killing any zombies you come across. Eventually you'll see a glowing blue light on the left. Shoot the cable glowing blue and it'll be destroyed. Proceed forward and before crossing the next bridge make a sharp left to find another glowing blue cable. Shoot it too. Cross the bridge and continue on the path killing more zombies as you go.

 

You'll eventually come to a hallway with the red demon at the end and around 4 normal zombies. Shoot the zombies from a distance if you can, or just get their attention to bring them closer to kill them. If the demon sees you, run back and it'll leave you alone. Once all zombies are dead, you have four fuses to get in four rooms in this hallway. There is one in the first room on the left on the table, the third room on the right in the top cabinet, the fourth room on the left on the table, and the fourth room on the right in the top cabinet. Wait in the last room on the right for the demon to pass you back the way you came. Run out past it up the stairs, through the gate. Put in the fuses and then go down the next hallway. Kill the zombie and follow the path to a ladder. Climb up the ladder and the level will end.

Turn to the hallway on the right and enter the door on your right to go into the bathroom. Open the first stall on the right to find a fuse. Leave the bathroom and continue down the hall. On the left at the end is the second fuse. Put them both on the fusebox in the hall. Avoid the red demon and go into the vent you used before in an earlier level.

 

When the vent forks into multiple paths, take the first left path you can and follow it. It'll take you to more forks with the vent creature again. Make a left when the path splits again. Follow it to the end and you'll find a key on the ground when you reach the dead end. Now you need to backtrack back out of the vent. Once again, watch for the red demon. Wait for it to round the corner again so it's safe. Go out and go to the door and open it, then walk forward to end the level.

Go up the stairs and into the elevator and take it up. Go across the room and up the stairs and follow the linear path to the end of the hallway. Go into the last room on the left and you'll see some machines. Go to the one with the big keyboard on the opposite side of the room and interact with it to complete the level and the game.

Level 1

 

As soon as the level starts, follow the hall into an open room with numbers painted around. Go to the door with the 3 on it and use the keypad to its left. Enter 2223 to open the door. Go in and immediately turn left to see a watermelon on the floor. Pick it up and drop it to smash it, unlocking this achievement.

Kill a Past Patient

 

This achievement unlocks upon killing a patient zombie. You'll encounter patients, guards, and other types of zombies. Level 3 is the first level you encounter enemies, and the first room you come to has two patients. Simply kill one of them to unlock this achievement.

Level 1

 

From the start of the level, follow the path to the open room with numbers painted. Go right and you'll see a table in the corner with a gramophone on it. Interact with the gramophone to unlock this achievement.

Make a right to follow the only path you can. Kill the cop zombie and continue on until you get to a room with mannequins. Kill the two zombies in this room then interact with the body on the table. Enter the door on the right and go down the stairs. In the room grab the key on the desk on the left. Now backtrack back to the room you started in and go through the large green door with the key.

 

Go down the stairs and use the keypad. Enter 7552 to open the door. Make a right in this room and follow the path. Duck under the stuff to proceed. Kill the zombies you come to and continue on this linear path through a gate. Interact with the terminal on the far side of the room, then backtrack to where you made the right turn. Now go through the open door and down the stairs into the open door.

 

In this room, head into the second door on the left and grab the fuse on the night stand. Now head to the last door on the right. Get all your guns loaded and make sure you have full health. Walk up to the metal gate and touch it. This starts a mini horde attack of around 10 zombies. Camp out in your room and kill them as they funnel through the doorway. Once they're all dead the metal gate will open. Go through the metal gate down the stairs and into the elevator. When the doors open you'll be in a room with the last four zombies of the game. Kill them and put the fuse in the panel on the wall. Proceed down the stairs to complete the level.

Is the demon on level 4 meant to be walking round in circles near the switches?

 

It should be walking in a big loop. If you're inside the vent looking out, it should walk left towards the levers on the wall, then turn around and walk right and then go around the corner down the hallway you don't need to use. It's at that point that you need to exit the vent to pull the switches, when the demon goes down the back hallway.
