Introduction:

Welcome to Heart Box, a free physics/dexterity-based puzzle game for Windows 10 where your goal in every level is to get the Heart Box character into the red bin. Not only is it free but there is thankfully no need whatsoever to spend any money. The reason I say this is a dexterity-based puzzle game is because for 90% or more of the levels, it's extremely easy to see how to complete them. The challenge comes in the coordination required to do so, especially in the different modes of each level. There are a total of 200 levels and each level has 4 modes to play it in, so you'll essentially be playing 800 levels for this completion. It'll take a little while but thankfully it's pretty easy and straightforward to get this completion. Let's get started.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

There are a total of 200 levels in the game. Every 10 levels you'll get an achievement, and then a new mechanic will be introduced, making for levels of increasing complexity as you go. There are four modes for each level and they are unlocked linearly, meaning you need to complete the level in the first mode to unlock the second, and so on. They are as follows:

  1. "Put on charger!" Mode - this is the normal default mode of the level without any restrictions or stipulations.
  2. "Don't discharge!" Mode - this mode has a timer at the top of the screen. You must complete the level before time runs out.
  3. "Survive!" Mode - this mode has homing boxing gloves periodically fly in from a random side of the screen and they will attempt to collide with your box, causing you to fail. You must tap on them to destroy them.
  4. "Bathe the ducky!" Mode - this mode replaces the box with a rubber ducky which has slightly different physics than the box. You also have a timer at the top, and then footballs come flying in from various sides of the screen which you can either avoid or tap on to get rid of.

Despite each level having four modes, the level solution is the same for all four. Because of this, I highly recommend that once you solve a level and complete it, you just go through all four modes to complete each of the variations of that level before moving on to the next level. That'll make sure the solution is fresh in your mind and make it so you don't have to come back later to figure out which levels you need to replay and which you don't. The completions of each variation are indicated by green check marks on the level select screen but they can be sometimes hard to see since the four per level overlap. The "Duck in action" achievement solution has more information regarding level solutions and tips for completing them all.

As you play levels, every 10 completions in a row (including variations of the same level) awards you with a gift of coins. Watch an ad and you'll immediately get a second gift. Group your level completions in sets of 10 as much as possible and watch the adds to get as many coins as possible. You'll need around 34,000 to buy everything so this will cut down on the grind later. You also need to amass 10,000 coins at once, so might as well not spend anything until you have the required amount.

Once you've completed all 200 levels in each of the four modes, you'll likely be around 20k coins, plus or minus a couple thousand. At this point you will have to grind out coins until you have enough. Buying everything will then wrap up this completion.

Conclusion:

Heart Box is a pretty fun puzzle game with a lot of levels and it's all free. Some of the stuff, such as the boxing gloves, can be really cheap sometimes and frustrating, but there's nothing overly difficult here. There is nothing from a solution perspective holding you back, so as long as you have the coordination and dexterity to finish all of the levels then this is a pretty easy completion.

Complete all levels in "Bathe the ducky!" mode

There are a total of 200 levels in the game and there are four variants you can play them in, described below. You must complete them in each variant to unlock the next, so they are unlocked in the order listed.

  1. "Put on charger!" - this is normal mode. No restrictions, no limitations or stipulations. Just try to solve the level.
  2. "Don't discharge!" - there is a battery timer across the top of the screen that drains as time passes. Tapping on blocks, dynamite, balloons, etc., all add time to the meter. You must finish the level without running out of time.
  3. "Survive!" - boxing gloves come flying in from a random side of the screen and home in on your box. Moving the box doesn't help. The boxing gloves just change direction. You must tap on them to destroy them.
  4. "Bathe the ducky!" - the box is replaced by a rubber duck with slightly altered physics. There is a timer at the top of the screen that works just like the previous one (tapping blocks adds time). There are also footballs that fly in onto the screen. These are NOT homing. You can simply move the duck to dodge them, or tap on the footballs to deflect them away. Deflecting footballs also adds time to the meter.

Despite there being four variants for each level, there is only one solution for each level. So once you beat the normal version of the level you'll then need to replay it three more times with each of the other three variants. As far as the actual solutions for levels, the solution is almost always very obvious or easily determined with a minute or so of trial and error. The difficulty in this game is largely the dexterity required to complete the level, not actually solving how to beat it. However, if you are ever stuck and aren't sure how to complete a level, you have two options:

  • In the lower left corner of the screen is a question mark during a level. You can tap on this at any time and then watch a 30-second ad to get a hint. The hint actually just walks you through the level, showing you how to complete it. You just follow along.
  • The developers have released video guides for all levels, which you can consult as needed. I definitely don't recommend watching all of the videos since, as I said, over 90% of the levels are extremely obvious as to how to complete them. But if you're ever stuck, here is the link to their playlist:

The normal mode is straightforward enough to complete. The other variants pose additional challenges. I've provided some tips for each mode.

"Don't discharge!" Mode

Every block you tap (the yellow and black ones, dynamite, balloons, etc.) adds time to your meter. In many levels, to complete them in normal mode you don't need to tap all blocks, such as when you make ramps by tapping one block. In this mode you'll absolutely need to tap every block on the screen to get extra time. For example, tap one block to make a ramp as needed, and then as soon as the object slides down the ramp tap the other block just to add time. You'll have to move quickly on many levels. Worst case, where the hint icon normally is, you can click on the icon there to add additional time to your meter for your next attempt by watching a 30-second ad. The extra time from this should be plenty, as long as you already know what you're doing. You never need the extra time though; I completed every level without it. But it is there in case you want to use it.

"Survive!" Mode

You'll grow to hate these boxing gloves. They're very easy to deal with in the early levels but in the last 50 or so levels they can be insanely cheap and annoying. The thing to remember is that they come in every couple seconds at a fixed interval. So since you have no time limit here, you should be making moves in fixed amounts, stopping at safe points to destroy the boxing gloves before moving on. Thankfully there aren't too many levels without multiple safe points to stop and destroy gloves, but there are some that will test your patience and dexterity, where you need to make multiple timed moves in a row and it doesn't feel like you have any time to stop and tap on a boxing glove and then come back. You'll have to stay alert and be quick. Similarly to the previous mode, you can tap where the hint icon normally is and watch an ad to add armor to your box. I've never used this so I can't say for sure how well it works (for example, whether the boxing glove still sends your box flying or not) but you still have it as an option in case you're struggling.

"Bathe the ducky!" Mode

Despite this mode having both a timer and footballs flying at your duck, I found it easier than the previous two modes. Tapping on the footballs actually adds time here, not just tapping on blocks, so the timer is virtually never an issue in these levels. The footballs, unlike the boxing gloves, are NOT homing. They enter the screen and fly in a set direction. They won't change direction, so if you're moving your duck then you can easily dodge the footballs. The only oddball thing here is the different physics of the duck. In many levels it has virtually no effect on the level solution, but in some levels just be ready to tweak your solution slightly, since the duck will bounce higher, launch farther, and move easier (less friction). The solution is the same in general, but you may need different timing.

The violet skins are obtained differently than the other skins. Instead of spending coins on these, you must watch ads to unlock these skins. The earlier ones are 3 ads or so, but later ones can be 20 ads to watch, which is just ridiculous that you must watch 20 30-second ads for a single skin. You can do this at any time while playing so I recommend breaking it up, since watching the same ads over and over again is incredibly boring. Thankfully, in my experience, the 30-second ads seem to "run out" at some point and you'll get the single picture ads that you can close immediately, making it much quicker. Unfortunately, also in my experience, the game tends to go haywire after watching many ads in a row. I had to close the game app pretty often because it kept locking me out of stuff, so just be prepared for things to act up when you watch tens of ads in a row.

Collect all pink, blue, fiolet and yellow skins

In order to unlock this achievement you'll need to buy all of the skins from the shop. For some reason, the shop is only accessible while you're actually in a level. During a level you'll see a shopping cart icon in the upper left corner you can tap on.

The outline box on the skin shows what color it is relative to the achievements but you'll need to buy them all for this achievement. It'll cost you around 34k coins to buy everything. After completing all 200 levels on every setting, I had just over 20k coins, so expect to be somewhere near 20k when you finish, plus or minus a couple thousand depending how many gifts you get.

At this point you have to grind out coins - you can replay levels to get the same gifts you were getting as you progressed. It doesn't count if you just keep replaying the same level, so you need to alternate levels or modes. The fastest way I've found is to just replay level 191 and alternate between the boxing glove and rubber duck modes (since the coins on screen are worth 3x and 4x for those two modes, respectively). Play the rubber duck mode, tap the blower to finish the level, then choose the boxing glove mode and just repeat back and forth. Every completion takes 2 seconds or so. Every 10 levels you'll get a gift of 60-110 coins, and then you can watch an ad to get another gift. Repeat over and over until you have enough coins to buy everything.

If there is a way to spend real money to buy coins, I spent literally 15 minutes trying to find a way to use my money to buy coins but it either doesn't exist or the interface is so poor that it's pretty well hidden how to spend money. I never found a way to buy coins to avoid the grind.

Once you have enough money, simply buy everything to unlock this achievement.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/5679/163973-lo.jpg Patient mage 40:1gs:

Collect all daily skins

Every consecutive day you log into the game you'll be given a daily reward. To collect it, you must load up a level and you'll see a gift icon on the right side of the screen near the top. Click on it and then you'll be shown all the daily rewards along with where you're at in the progression. You need to log in 16 days in a row to receive the final skin in the this progression.

Be aware that the game doesn't register you logging in that day unless you actually launch the app that day. So if you leave the app running like I typically do, when you go on the next day it won't register unless you close the game app and then open it that day. Only then will you see the gift icon to collect your daily reward.

For the 16 consecutive days, you can either do this legitimately over 16 real life days or you can simply change the date on your Windows 10 device. Collect the daily reward today and then close the game app. Go into your Date and Time settings and set the date forward one day. Open the game, collect your daily reward, and close the app. Repeat for 16 days in a row. Upon collecting the final skin in the progression, this achievement will unlock.

Accumulate 10000 coins

This is NOT a cumulative total of your earnings. It must be amassed at a single time. In the upper right corner of the screen you will see your current coin total. This number must reach 10k to unlock this achievement.

If you don't spend any coins as you progress, you will far exceed 10k by the time you're done with every level. And really, there is no reason whatsoever to spend any coins. The only thing you can spend coins on are cosmetic skins for your box, so just ignore the shopping cart in the upper left corner until you amasss enough coins to reach the 10k mark. You'll need over 30k coins to buy all of the skins anyway, so simply accumulate this much to unlock this achievement before buying skins.
