*All of the achievements are tied to dying in specific ways, so technically, if you beat the game, you'll have to start over and progress to the points where you die in those ways. Since there are no achievements related to completing the games, you will still be able to backtrack and get some if you missed them.

Introduction:
Welcome to 8-Bit Adventure Anthology: Volume One. This consists of a collection of three 8-bit point-and-click adventure games originally for PC but re-released for consoles. They are: Shadowgate, Deja Vu and Uninvited. All of the original style, gameplay, and music is retained, giving you the feeling of going back in time to play some classic adventure games. As far as achievements, each game has 6 of them, and they are all for dying in certain ways. This is a very strange choice, since you don't actually have to beat any of the games to get the completion, making it incredibly fast and easy. Each game takes around an hour or so to get all 6 achievements. Let's get started with this very fast and easy completion.

Walkthrough:
Since the three games are completely separate, you can play them in any order you want. I recommend saving Shadowgate for last actually, so you're more used to the controls for it. In Shadowgate, you essentially have a ticking clock the entire time, because if your torch goes out, you die. Don't worry, this isn't nearly as stressful as it sounds.

A full text walkthrough of each game's achievements can be found in the guide below. There, I'll provide details for unlocking each one as you play through the game. As noted in the intro, you don't need to actually beat any of the games. All of the achievements are for dying in certain ways, so we're going to get those six deaths and then move on to the next game. Here are some general tips and info about the games:

- To perform any action, you have to select the action on the bottom of the screen with and then press wherever you want to perform that action. This may take some getting used to, since it will feel very slow at first.

- In the rest of this Roadmap and in the walkthroughs below, all actions you need to perform are in all caps, such as MOVE, USE, EXAMINE, etc. All items you can pick up or use from your inventory are capitalized. That's the convention I'll be using throughout.

- You can OPEN doors and MOVE through them without actually having to select OPEN and MOVE from the bottom. Simply press to make sure no actions are selected, then press on the door or doorway to want to open or move through. Obviously this will only work if the door or doorway is visible on the screen.

- The grid below the MOVE command will show all available paths you can take. In the walkthroughs, if the door or path is visible, I will tell you to go through it. If I say to move "up" or "down" then I am referring to using the squares in this grid. Also, when I say to move "back" then that is equivalent to moving to the bottom square unless I explicitly state otherwise. Most times, moving down moves you back the way you came, but not always.

Once all three games are complete, congrats on a completion that didn't require you to beat a single game!

Conclusion:
8-Bit Adventure Anthology: Volume One does a great job of bringing back some classic PC adventures games from the onset of gaming. The music and sound effects really make it feel like you've traveled back in time. Unfortunately, the strange choice to tie all achievements to deaths will likely result in many players not even beating the games. But if you are a big fan of the genre, just want some nostalgia, or just want some very fast and easy gamerscore, then you came to the right place.

      Note: I am only going to tell you where to MOVE and have omitted the opening of doors to keep it brief. If there is a door where I tell you to go, obviously open it first then move.

      Walkthrough

      TAKE the Coat and Gun1 from the wall. OPEN the Coat and TAKE Coin=7 and Wallet. OPEN the Wallet and TAKE Key1 and Card. MOVE forward. EXAMINE the mirror in the bathroom and MOVE through the door on the right, then MOVE to the upper right square. MOVE through the door on the left, then MOVE forward. USE Key1 on the door on the left and MOVE through it. OPEN the desk, OPEN Envl1 and EXAMINE the Bill to get an address in your address book. MOVE to the left. OPEN the desk to get Key3 and OPEN the man's body to get Key2. OPEN the window behind the body. MOVE through the window, up the stairs, and then through the window on the right. USE the button next to the elevator, then MOVE into it and USE the lowest button to go to that floor. MOVE forward out of the elevator. Now you're in the sewers and need to get the alligator to spawn. MOVE to the left square and then back again, over and over again until the alligator pops up on screen. When he finally does, HIT him to get eaten and unlock "Urban Legend."

      Continue and this time MOVE forward and then to the left and you should be in a casino. Now what you need to do is gamble with the slot machines in the back until you have at least 9 coins. You'll need three coins per taxi ride, and you need to take it 3 times. I used the slot machine on the right. USE a coin on the slot machine and keep playing until you win and have at least 9 coins. If you lose all your coins, quit and reload and try again. Once that's done, MOVE to the upper right square, then right, then down. USE Key3 on the door, then MOVE through it. At this point, a mugger with a gun should pop up and try to rob you. If he doesn't, go back (rightmost square) and return here over and over until he does. When he does, SPEAK to him. He'll shoot you and you'll unlock "Street Violence."

      Continue and MOVE through the door again. If the same mugger shows up, HIT him to get rid of him. Now MOVE to the middle right square and a woman in a red dress should pop up. If not, go back (lower left square) and forth until she pops up. When she does, try to TAKE her purse and she'll shoot you, unlocking "100% Noir."

      Continue and repeat the above steps to get the woman to appear, but this time HIT her to knock her out, OPEN her purse, then TAKE Gun2 from it. Now MOVE to the lower left square and you should be looking at a car. USE Key2 on the car to unlock it, then MOVE inside it. On the lower left side of the steering wheel is a little button that is dark with a red ring around it. USE this button to pop the hood, which makes the car explode and unlocks "Oldest Trick."

      Continue, go back into the car, and this time OPEN the glove compartment. TAKE the Snapshot, Map, and Note2, then EXAMINE all three. MOVE out of the car and to the left middle square. MOVE left two more times and you should be in front of a Guns and Ammo shop. MOVE through the entrance on the right and USE Gun2 on the clerk. He'll shoot you, and this unlocks "Desperate."

      Continue and you'll be back in the main area outside. MOVE to the lower left square and you'll be looking at a cab. MOVE into it and SPEAK to the driver. Select the Westend address from the list, then USE the Coins in your inventory on the Pay Here slot, then MOVE out of the cab. MOVE into the building and USE the Card in your inventory on the keycard slot next to the elevator door. MOVE into the elevator and again USE the Card on the slot inside. MOVE into the room, TAKE the photo on top of the fireplace and then EXAMINE it to get a new address. MOVE all the way back to the cab, get back in, and SPEAK to the driver again. This time select Kedzie from the list, then pay and exit like before. USE Gun2 on the door of the house on the left to shoot the lock off. MOVE into the house, OPEN the desk next to the bed, then TAKE Key5. MOVE back to the cab, get back inside, and SPEAK to the driver again. This time select Sherman. Pay him and exit the cab. MOVE forward, go left up the stairs, and you'll be in front of your office door with a figure behind the glass. USE Gun1 on the figure in the window, then USE Key5 on the door. MOVE through the door to trigger dialogue and your death, unlocking "Brain Damage."

      Here is a text walkthrough of Shadowgate that walks you through the game to get all six achievements.

      Note 1: There is a lit torch in the upper right above your inventory. If this goes out, you'll die. Because of this, you have two options:

      1) Pick up torches from the walls along the way as you play. Whenever the music changes, it means time is running out on your torch. USE the lit torch on a torch in your inventory to stay lit and not die.

      2) Ignore this aspect of this game completely. After you die, you can continue and you'll be around where you were when you died, but your torch will be fully lit again and you won't have to use any extra torches. You will die in the middle of doing various actions, but you won't lose much time and won't have to deal with collecting torches and keeping them lit. I personally did this method.

      Note 2: I am only going to tell you where to MOVE and have omitted the opening of doors to keep it brief. If there is a door where I tell you to go, obviously open it first then move.

      Walkthrough

      You can do this anytime during this playthrough, but to get it out of the way, start by selecting USE and then using the lit torch in the upper right on Self in the lower right. Do this three times to set yourself on fire, die, and unlock "A Danger to Yourself."

      Continue, and this time OPEN the skull above the door and TAKE the Key1. MOVE through the door now. Inside, you can TAKE the torches from the wall if you want to keep your torch lit all game, otherwise ignore them. USE Key1 on the brown door in the back on the left and MOVE through it. Two more torches are available on the walls to TAKE. OPEN the book and TAKE Key2. MOVE back and USE Key2 on the grey door on the right and MOVE through it. TAKE the Sword and Sling and then leave. MOVE through the left door again where the book was, and HIT the white stone on the left side of the back wall. This will open a hole. MOVE through it. TAKE the Arrow right in front of you, and then USE the torch on the left wall to open a door. MOVE through it, then to the top left square and you'll be confronted by a monster. To defeat it, you have to USE your lit torch on the Torch in your inventory (note that this Torch is separate from your stock of Torch=X and should be right below that). This will defeat the monster. TAKE the Blue Cloak hanging, and the torches on the walls if you want them, then MOVE through the door. There is another Torch on the wall if you want to TAKE it. LOOK at the letters EPOR on the right wall twice to learn a spell, then USE that spell. MOVE up to be in a room of mirrors. TAKE the Broom on the left, the torches if you want them, then MOVE down to be in a room of coffins.

      OPEN the coffin on the right closest to you, then USE your burning torch on the mummy and TAKE the Scepter he drops. Now OPEN the next coffin on the right, OPEN the bag that falls out, and TAKE the three Coppcoins. MOVE down and then through the door on the right, then forward one more time to be at a waterfall. TAKE one of the Stones on the ground, then MOVE behind the waterfall. HIT the protruding rock in front of you, OPEN the bag, and TAKE all three different colored Gems. MOVE down three times and this time go through the left door. USE Whitegem on the hole next to the door, then TAKE the Sphere. There are also two more torches available in here. MOVE through the door to be in a tunnel with a bunch of objects on the ground in front of you. TAKE the Shield first and the dragon will start blowing fire at you. You need to TAKE three more items from the ground (any 3) and the dragon will melt through your shield, killing you and unlocking "Melting Point."

      Continue and MOVE forward into the dragon tunnel and again TAKE the Shield first. This time, TAKE only the Spear and Hammer, then MOVE back twice and then through the right door. USE the Sphere on the water to freeze it, USE the burning torch on the ice to free up the Sphere and then TAKE it back, and also TAKE Key3 from the skeleton. MOVE down and then up twice and you should be back in the mirror room. USE the Hammer on the right mirror to die and unlock "And beyond."

      Continue, and this time USE the Hammer on the middle mirror and then USE Key3 on the door behind it. USE the Cloak on Self (lower right) and MOVE through the door. USE the Sphere on the fire to get rid of it, then MOVE forward twice and a troll will pop up and ask for gold. USE two Coppcoins on him to make him mad, pull the bridge, and kill you, unlocking "Trolled."

      Continue and MOVE up twice to be back at the troll. This time USE the Spear on him to get rid of him. MOVE forward to encounter a cyclops. USE the Stone on the Sling, then USE the Sling on the cyclops to knock him down, and then USE the Sword on the cyclops to kill it. USE the crank on the well on the right to raise the bucket, then OPEN the bucket and TAKE the Gauntlet. MOVE forward to find another torch on the wall if you want it, then go into the lower left room. OPEN the desk, and then OPEN Scroll3 and Scroll4 to learn two more spells. TAKE Key5 and Glasses. USE Glasses on Self and then OPEN the book on the desk to learn another spell. TAKE the Map on the wall on the right and the Skull on the shelf on the left. USE Redgem on the hole by the bookcase to open it, and MOVE through. TAKE the Bellows hanging on the fireplace on the right, and then USE the spell Terrakk to open the globe, then TAKE Key6 from inside. MOVE down twice and then through the top left door. USE the white stone on the ground to make a bottle of water appear. TAKE the Water, as well as the Horseshoe above the doorway on the right, then MOVE through that doorway. USE the Gauntlet on Self, then TAKE the Flute. USE the Flute, then TAKE the Ring from the tree on the left. MOVE back twice and then into the top door. You should be in a room with three doors. USE your burning torch on the carpet and then TAKE Key4 from the ground. Also TAKE the Mirror from the wall. USE Key5 on the upper right door and MOVE through. MOVE forward and you'll encounter a Sphinx that will present you with one of these riddles:

      Q: I'm fire's best friend, my body swells with wind, with my nose I blow, how the embers glow.
      A: Bellows

      Q: I've no eyes, but once I did see, thoughts had I, but now I'm white and empty.
      A: Skull

      Q: First burnt and beaten, then drowned and pierced, then stepped on by long-faced animals.
      A: Horseshoe

      Q: It has towns but no houses, forests but no trees, rivers but no fish.
      A: Map

      Q: You look at me, I look back, your right hand raises, I my left, you speak, but I in vain.
      A: Mirror

      Q: Long neck, no hands, 100 legs, cannot stand, born of forest nest, against a wall I rest.
      A: Broom

      Whichever riddle you get, USE the item that is the answer on the Sphinx and he'll let you pass, so MOVE up the stairs. TAKE the Star from the poster on the back left, then MOVE forward to find a woman on the ground. TAKE the green object on the right to be killed by her and unlock "Damsel in Distress."

      Continue, and MOVE down twice to be back in the 3-door room. USE Key6 on the upper left door then MOVE through it, and MOVE forward again to have a hellhound appear. USE the Water on him to get rid of him, then TAKE the Horn on the ground. MOVE forward and you'll be confronted by a dragon. USE the Star on him to destroy him, then TAKE the Talisman. MOVE back twice to be back in the 3-door room. USE Key4 on the bottom door and MOVE through it. There are two more torches here if you want them, otherwise MOVE through the left door and then left again to find some items on the ground. OPEN the bag and TAKE the Big Coin and one Gold Coin. MOVE back twice and this time go through the right door to find a skeleton on a throne. USE the Scepter on the skeleton's left hand to open up the wall, then USE the Ring on the hole to move the throne. MOVE through the opening, TAKE the torches if you want them, then MOVE forward again to find two gargoyles. USE the spell Illumina to stun the gargoyles, then MOVE to the opening on the back left. USE the handle on the well to open it, then USE the Big Coin on the well to open it up. MOVE forward (into the well) to be in some ethereal area. USE the Mallet hanging on the side of the gong on the gong itself to summon the Ferryman. USE your Gold Coin on him and then MOVE to the raft. USE the Talisman on the left slot and then USE the Horn. MOVE through the opening and you'll find a person in blue and a dragon. USE the Sword on the person in blue to be killed and unlock "Almost There."

      Walkthrough

      You start inside a burning car. Repeat any action, such as EXAMINE on a part of the car, over and over until the car burns with you inside it. This will unlock "Not a Racing Game After All."

      Continue and this time MOVE through the car door on the left. OPEN the mailbox on the right, then OPEN Envl and then TAKE the Pendant. MOVE ahead and then to the right and you'll be in a study of sorts. OPEN the book on the table and then EXAMINE the book to learn four spells. MOVE back one square and then to the upper left square and you'll be in a hallway with three doors on each side. OPEN any of them and a woman will appear in front of you. SPEAK to her and she'll turn and kill you, unlocking "Hello Beautiful."

      Continue, then MOVE to the upper left square to be back in the hallway, then MOVE forward to go up the stairs. MOVE through the very back right door to be inside a bedroom. OPEN the black cabinet and TAKE the Ruby. Now you need to let yourself die from the Ruby. Time progresses as you perform actions, so you can spam EXAMINE on anything in the room over and over. You'll get continual scenes of the evil force taking you over. Once it finally kills you, you'll unlock "Consumed."

      Continue, and now there's quite a bit of work to do to get to the next death. You should be back in the upstairs hallway, and instead of going into the back right door, MOVE into the middle right door. TAKE the Axe and MOVE back into the hall. MOVE into the closest door on the right, and TAKE the two items on the second highest shelf - Spray and No Ghost. MOVE back into the hall and then into the door in the back on the left. OPEN the table by the bed and then OPEN Scroll1 to learn a new spell. MOVE back twice to be in the six door hallway. Attempt to OPEN any door to make the woman appear, but this time USE No Ghost on her to destroy her. MOVE through the back left door and TAKE the Bouquet of flowers from the table. MOVE left and TAKE either one of the two knives hanging on the wall. MOVE right and TAKE the Matches from the right of the second highest shelf. MOVE back four times to be back in the main hallway.

      MOVE into the back right door this time, USE the Knife you picked off the wall on the chair, and then TAKE Key1 from inside. MOVE left to be back in the hall, then go up the stairs and into the closest door on the left. USE Key1 on the dresser, TAKE the Box inside, and OPEN Scroll2 and Scroll3. MOVE back twice to be back downstairs in the hall, then go into the back right door. USE Matches on the fireplace and then USE Box on the lit fire. TAKE the Star that is left behind. MOVE to the top left square then the bottom left square. USE Key1 on the cabinet to get Gyp Doll. USE the spell Dolldoll to get another spell from the doll. MOVE through the door in front of you and TAKE the cage on the ground. MOVE forward again and you'll be outside with three buildings in front of you in the distance.

      MOVE to the middle building, through the door, and TAKE the Watercan on the right. USE it on the pot on the left twice to make a plant start to grow. MOVE back out of the building, USE the faucet on the right to turn it on, then USE the Watercan on it to fill it up. MOVE back inside and USE the Watercan on the plant again to make a fruit. TAKE the Fruit. MOVE back twice and then to the building on the right this time. Two hounds will appear. USE the spell Thundede to get rid of them, then MOVE inside. USE the spell O Sesame to open a doorway on the left. USE the Matches on the candles to light them, then TAKE them and the Goblet on the table. MOVE left through the doorway you opened and forward again. You'll now be at the entrance to a maze.

      The maze is obviously a maze, and there are a lot of movements to make to get through it, so I tried to break it down. If you get lost or mess up at any point, you can USE the spell Telemaze to teleport back to the entrance. Here is how to navigate it. Use the boxes under the MOVE command to pick where to go according to these directions:

      - MOVE Up, Left, Left, Up, Up, Left, Left, Up, Up, Right, Right, Up, Up, Right, Right, Right
      - You should now see a zombie. USE the Pendant on him to kill him.
      - MOVE Right, Down, Down
      - There should be a tombstone on the left. USE the Bouquet on it to open a doorway, then MOVE through it
      - USE Key1 on the slot in the wall and three animals will appear. USE your Cage on the hawk to collect it.
      - MOVE Down twice and a creature will pop up. OPEN the Cage to release the hawk and get rid of the monster and TAKE the Jewel. USE the spell Telemaze to leave the maze.

      MOVE back three times to be in front of the three buildings again. This time go to the left one. USE the Jewel on the slot above the door and MOVE inside. USE the Fruit on the creature in your path and MOVE forward. OPEN the safe on the left and change the numbers to 794780 (you have to use the D-pad for this) and press . USE the Axe on the jar inside the safe to get Cookie. MOVE down (in the navigation area) five times and you'll be back in the room with the dancing creature. USE the Cookie on the plate and then TAKE the Key from the plate. Now MOVE back to the room with the safe by going right, then forward to the three buildings, and into the left one and then forward twice. USE the Matches on the fireplace, USE Key2 on the manhole cover on the floor, and MOVE into it. MOVE forward to face a spider. HIT it to be eaten and unlock "Persistence."

      Continue and this time MOVE left to be in an ice room. USE the Star on the ice and then quickly USE the man's body on the hole in the floor. MOVE up, use Key2 on the door and MOVE through it. Now MOVE down three times, up the stairs, into the back left room and then into the back right door and you should be in the bathroom. USE the tub faucet to turn it on. Now you need to flood the room, and the water level rises each time you perform an action, so spam any action you want, such as EXAMINE until the room floods and kills you, unlocking "Cloggage."

      Continue and go back into the back right room, turn the bathtub faucet back on, and make the room flood like before. This time, use OPEN on the light fixture on the ceiling, and once the water level is high enough you'll go into a room. HIT the woman, and then HIT the demon to be killed and unlock "Welcome Home."
