Introduction:

Unlike the 'real' Final Fantasy games, A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV is a retro-style, side-scrolling brawling game. It was launched to promote FFXV and is free for download. The game consists of a story mode, and 25 challenges called 'Dream Battles.'

Step 1: Story Mode
Play through the story on the easiest difficulty. Along the way you should unlock "Group Discount," "Big Bang," "Return to Sender," "Bonded," "Lights Out," and "The End." Then select 'Continue' on the title screen, and get the alternative ending for "Bedtime Blunder," and let yourself get killed ten times for "Still Awake?" You'll likely unlock "Fallen Army" as well.

Step 2: Dream Battles
These are essentially challenges. You don't need to stress about grades, all that matters is fulfilling each challenge's special task to get the gold star. Going through the challenges, you'll unlock "I Dream Of Awesome," "Combo Kings," "Light Sleeper," and "Sweet Dreams."

Conclusion:
AKT: FFXV is an enjoyable little game with a price tag nobody can argue with.

There are 13 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Complete all Dream Battle Special Challenges.

Upon completing story mode, you can start tackling the Dream Battles. You don't need to worry about grades, only each battle's special challenge matters. These range from performing a set amount of certain moves to beating the challenge without taking damage. Most are quite easy and will come with little effort. Upon completing all challenges the achievement will unlock.

  • The End

    150

    Complete Story Mode.

Story Mode is straight forward moving from left to right and beating up everything that moves. As you can play on Casual it should take you only about 1½-2 hours.

  • Defeat 1000 enemies.

1000 may sound like a high number, but this should come naturally. If you still haven't unlocked this after getting all the other achievements, just reload the final battle in Story Mode and keep on pummeling the infinite spawning enemies.

  • Perform every move in one combo string.

While you can do this anytime (once all moves are available), I chose Dream Battle #1. Note that a combo means not getting hit until you trigger the Armiger ability, you don't have to hit enemies constantly.

The moves you need to perform are:

    Quick Slash
    Strong Slash
    Shield Bash
    Dodge Roll

    Power Slash
    Heavy Strike
    Cyclone
    Shield Push
    Shield Stun
    Rising Fury

    Aerial Smash
    Aerial Bash
    (hold) Aerial Kickoff #1
    (hold) Aerial Kickoff #2
    (hold) Aerial Kickoff #3

Casting ice magic to slow down enemies can help out quite a bit. Summoning friends does not void the achievement, it will pop as soon as you complete all moves in one combo.

  • Use the Armiger on a tonberry.

Tonberries are the little green guys carrying a lamp that will slow you down, and can one-shot you. They appear in the final chapter in Story Mode. Clear the screen of all other enemies then hit it with an Armiger.

Tonberries also appear in Dream Battles, at least in #5, so you can always try to get it there if you hadn't luck in Story Mode.

  • Finish a Dream Battle in under 1 minute.

The best battle to do this is #15. Refrain from using the Armiger, as the animation eats up precious time. Instead, just summon friends, and use bombs to cull the numbers.

  • Finish a Dream Battle without taking damage.

Dream Battle #6 and #16 actually require this for the gold star, so it only makes sense to try it there. Keep moving and don't get swamped, and use companions, Armiger, and magic for maximum effort.

  • Kill 5 or more enemies with one spell.

The blob-like flan are the most vulnerable to magic opposing their element. So try to lure enough blue flans and hit them with fire magic (or hit red flans with ice magic) and the achievement will unlock. Charging the spell will make it's area of effect wider.

  • Bonded

    40

    Execute the Bonds of Battle.

Once you have all three companions, start building up a combo. As soon as it becomes available summon a companion. Keep the combo alive until all companions have been summoned, then hit to use the Armiger and unlock the achievement.

  • Detonate 3 bombs simultaneously.

During the fourth Story Mode mission, hit a bomb with towards other bombs to trigger an explosion that will kill three or more. You can 'grow' larger bombs with a larger radius by first hitting them with .

  • Get the alternate story ending.

During the final fight, let the octopus steal the crystal, and the achievement will unlock.

  • Die 10 times in Story Mode.

If this doesn't come naturally, just load up the final battle, and run up to the octopus to get killed. Rinse and repeat for as many times as needed.

  • Deflect 50 stingers or needles.

You can deflect these projectiles by hitting either or . There are too many wasps and cactuars for you to miss this unless you actively go out of your way to avoid getting this achievement.
