Welcome to Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, another head-to-head fighting game in the Fatal Fury series. This game sees the return of many familiar characters in the series plus the addition of some newcomers. The achievements are the standard NEOGEO requirements of obtaining set scores in each of the three modes. Unfortunately, this fighting game is one of the more challenging ones, with no particular way to spam your way through each mode. A decent amount of skill and/or some luck will be required for this completion. Let's get started.
Step 1: Original Mode
For this mode, like all NEOGEO games, you're going to want to pause the game and go into Game Settings, increasing the time limit to the maximum and reducing the difficulty to the minimum to make this as easy as possible. You are also going to want to make continual use of the save state system. Upon starting a fight, pause and select to Create Interrupt Save Data to create a save point. At any time during the fight (if you're doing well) and especially after each round, pause and save your game. If you do poorly or even lose, quit to the title screen and then resume from your save. The character you choose isn't really important here, but I chose Franco Bash, and I recommend learning that character to use for the next two modes. Work your way through the many opponents to finally reach the last score for Original Mode. Once you reach 800,000 points, let yourself get beat and then upload your score to complete all the achievements for this mode.
Step 2: Hi Score Mode
Hi Score Mode doesn't allow you to change any game settings nor use save states, so you're going to be fighting on the standard difficulty setting without being able to save. Thankfully, with the experience you should have after Original Mode, this shouldn't be too much more difficult. I still recommend sticking with Franco Bash, and choose Cheng as your first opponent since he tends to be pretty passive. You're going to have to defeat at least 5-6 enemies to get the required score. Refer to the guide for more tips. Once you reach 400,000 points, let yourself get beat and upload your score to the online leaderboard to finish this mode.
Step 3: Caravan Mode
Caravan Mode has the same settings as Hi Score Mode except with the added stipulation that you only have five minutes to score as much as possible. In most other NEOGEO games, the time limit doesn't come into play, but here, it's going to be the biggest obstacle to finishing this mode and getting the completion. Refer to the guide for more tips. Once you finally reach 300,000 points, that should be your last achievement and will wrap up this completion.
The bulk of this game is your standard NEOGEO fighting game fair, especially Original Mode. Hi Score Mode is a bit more difficult without a single move to spam, but still readily doable. Caravan Mode is where the majority of the difficulty lies, and will likely take quite a few tries to get the required score in time. Once you finally conquer Caravan Mode, the rest of this game shouldn't pose any problems.
