Introduction:
Blue’s Journey (known as Raguy in Japan) was released on NEOGEO back in 1991 by Alpha Denshi, and has been ported directly to the Xbox One by our new best friends over at the bizarrely named Hamster Corporation. This fun little side scrolling platforming action game is really bright and colourful, and the controls are sturdy enough to make it quite playable. You only need to play each game mode once, but will most likely may take few more tries.

Step 1 - Original Mode
Start up in original mode, and change the difficulty to 1 in the settings (press ). You have to get 150,000 points in this mode, which is actually quite far in the game, but you can continue as many times as you like and you keep your score. If you get stuck on a boss, get your first hit or two in, press to bring up options and hit “Create Interrupt Save Data”. If you die, or are not happy with your progress, return to the title screen and go back into Original mode to carry on from where you saved. You can then have as many attempts at the bosses without having to restart them. Continue playing until you have the required points. Once you have them, let yourself run out of lives and unlock the two high score achievements. 5 achievements for 420.

Step 2 - Hi-Score Mode
Hi-Score mode has you playing on default settings, which is difficulty level 4. You need to reach 60k points, which depending on how you play is could be passed the second boss. Play cautiously and learn the levels, picking up as many bonuses as you can. There are no real tips as the game isn’t particularly hard and the levels are straightforward, this will just take some practice and luck. Once you have the score related achievements, let yourself get beat and upload your score for the related achievement. 4 achievements for 340.

Step 3 - Caravan Mode
Rinse and repeat what you did in step 2, this time in Caravan mode. As well as not being able to change the difficulty, you have only 5 minutes to get the high scores. However, this should be plenty of time in this game. You only need to beat the first boss, and maybe the first part of the next level to reach the 30k needed. Once you have the score related achievements, you can simply quit out. 3 achievements for 240.

Conclusion:
If you like your platformers cute and colourful, and enjoy the good old times, this is one of the better action titles available in the NeoGeo range. If you are going for the achievements they shouldn’t give you too much trouble and should only take a few hours. If you don't mind the price point for not much bang for your buck, and appreciate a relatively easy 1000, then this game comes highly recommended!

Hi-Score mode has you playing on default settings, which is difficulty level 4. You need to reach 60k points, which depending on how you play could be passed the second boss. Play cautiously and learn the levels, picking up as many bonuses as you can. There are no real tips as the game isn’t particularly hard and the levels are straightforward, this will just take some practice and luck. The first boss is pretty easy. He fires guys at you, just hit one, pick him up, and throw him at the boss. Then just dash towards the boss and he will jump over you. Do this four times and he should go down. Take the left path next, it is slightly easier than the right. The second boss here is just as easy. He will throw fire at you. Dodge the fire, then hit him and move back. You may need to hit him four or five times, but there are only two flamer patterns so it isn’t too much trouble. Make sure at the end of the pre-boss levels you jump as high as possible and hit the top of the flower, as much like Mario, the higher you get, the more score you get.

    Alternate Method:
You can use the same tactic as Original Mode but only if you make it to the cabbage without dying AND make sure you jump to the top of the bonus flower at the end of level one to get 7770 points. This means you'll need to complete the first two levels and the first boss without dying. With a little practice this is pretty easy to do. Then you can take the right path, get the cabbage, then let enemies kill you and grab the cabbage again, repeating until you're out of lives. If you got 7770 points at the end of level one then getting the cabbage three times should give you just enough points for the scores.
