Introduction:
Real Bout: Fatal Fury was released on NEOGEO back in 1995 by SNK, and has been ported directly to the Xbox One by our new best friends over at the bizarrely named Hamster Corporation. As with most of the other games so far released in the ACA series, this is a pretty fast completion, requiring little skill to finish. You only need to play each game mode once, but depending on luck and how fast you get used to the controls, may take few more tries.

Step 1 - Original Mode
Start up in original mode. You can change the settings to make things easier for yourself and fight the AI, but if you want to be cheap, you can plug a second controller in and just beat a non-moving opponent. The achievement won't pop when you are doing this, but if you win the fight and don't continue with player 2, you will go back to fighting the AI. Press and hit "Save Interrupt Data"; this will create a save point. Restart the game (quit to dashboard first), start original mode and you will continue against the AI and your achievement will pop. Alternatively, just play through as the game is pretty easy, pressing on your spare controller if you think you may lose. Once you have them, let yourself get beat and unlock the two high score achievements. 5 achievements for 420.

Step 2 - Hi-Score Mode
In Hi-Score Mode, you have to test yourself against the computer at level 4 difficulty. You can pick a character you liked from a previous game, or spend some time learning a specific character's move set, or see the guide below for a proven easy method. Once you have the score related achievements, let yourself get beat and upload your score for the related achievement. 4 achievements for 340.

Step 3 - Caravan Mode
Rinse and repeat what you did in step 2, this time in Caravan mode. As well as not being able to change the difficulty, you have only 5 minutes to get the high scores. However, this should be plenty of time in this game. Once you have the score related achievements, you can simply quit out. 3 achievements for 240.

Conclusion:
This game shouldn't give even the most amateur fighting game player much trouble, once you get your technique on Bob Wilson down. If you don't mind the price point for not much bang for your buck, and appreciate an easy 1000, then this game comes highly recommended!

There are 12 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • The score has been posted to the online rankings.

Play the game on any mode, with any settings, and set a high score. When you get to the game over screen, as long as you get on the high score board, you will get this. The lowest score is really low, you probably have to beat the first guy only for this. The game will ask you if you want to upload your high score. Press and your achievement will pop. This must be against the AI not a second controller.

  • High score has been updated.

Start up the game in Original mode (Japanese or English), and go into settings, changing the round time as high as it will go and the difficulty down to 1. Choose any character you are comfortable with and work your way through the fights. With the settings like this, the first few fights will be very simple, and each fight should give you a good chunk of points on completion. You can use the “Create interrupt save data” function to create save points at any point, so it is advisable to do this before or just after. If you lose, exit to the menu then go back into Original mode and you can carry on from where you saved.

If you have a second controller, you can just press on it if you think you are close to defeat, beat your idle controller, then the game will put you back at the beginning of the fight you were struggling with. You will keep any points you had already earned in the fight, so you could even win the first round, then activate controller 2 to “bank” any earned points. If you do use a second controller at any point, the achievements won’t pop until you create a save and go back into the game.

  • HI SCORE MODE 300,000 points.

Hi Score mode sees you battling the AI at difficulty 4, which isn’t too bad for the first few fights, but can get pretty rough when you are heading towards your ultimate goal of 300k points. When choosing a character, all have their individual strengths and weaknesses. I suppose the “proper” way to do this would be find a character you like, play with them and learn their movesets, getting stronger with them and eventually triumphing. If, like the writer of this guide, you suck at fighting games and/or want to get this done fast, then follow this advice!

Pick Joe Hagashi as your character, on the right hand side of the top row, and pick the big guy, Franco Bash as your first opponent. Against Franco, jump towards him and press to do a flying kick, then follow immediately with a low sweep, again with . You can do this repeatedly, getting two perfects on him, and if you did it fast enough you will get two SS ranks and over 125k for this first fight.

For the following fights, keep on using this jumping kick, sweep combo. The other fighters won’t just stand there like Franco, and will get some offence in, maybe even winning the occasional round, but persevere with it. You may need to mix it up a little, but this combination should be used as much as possible. To get high scores, you need high ranks which is based on time left and energy lost. You may score lowly on some fights, but carry on - my second highest scoring fight was my penultimate one before I finally lost (at 340k). The toughest opponent on this order of opponents (the order is decided by who you choose to fight first) seems to be Jin Chonrei, who you will fight third. This is because his fighting style is hard to preempt as he stands still when he is not attacking. You may get stuck against him for a bit, but the game will get easier again until you fight Duck King, however you should have easily enough points by the time you get to him.

  • CARAVAN MODE 100,000 points.

Refer to “CARAVAN MODE 200,000 points” for more information.

  • CARAVAN MODE 150,000 points.

  • CARAVAN MODE 200,000 points.

Caravan mode sees you fighting your opponents at difficulty 4, and you are against the clock, having only 5 minutes to get the score needed. This isn’t too bad, as you can get the 200k score needed with plenty of time to spare provided you have a decent first fight. See “HI SCORE MODE 300,000 points” for an easy method for this.
