Introduction:
Welcome to Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, an enhanced version of the classic. Whilst arguably not the strongest game in the series it is still a classic and certainly a RTS that any fan of the genre should try. Whilst the achievements could take time if done "legitimately," there are fortunately in-game cheats that do not disable any achievements, so the completion can be very quick if that's what you want.

Be warned there is DLC for the game not included with GamePass, so if you want the full completion beyond the original 1000gs.png, you will need to purchase it.

Campaign:
The three Campaigns can either be played through fully, which is enjoyable, especially if you've never played them before, or alternatively, if your just here for the achievements, just use the "this is too hard" cheat to skip levels. See Blood, Ice and Steel (30G) for more information.

Multiplayer/Skirmish:
The next step should be all of the Multiplayer/Skirmish achievements. Essentially you'll be looking to get the No Mains (50G) and We need more wood! (20G) achievements, taking care to get any Civilization-specific achievements when you're playing as them.

After those you'll probably want to grind out See My Vest! (50G).

Mop-Up:
By now you should have a majority of the achievements. Some of the remaining miscellaneous ones can be achieved in a matter of minutes normally, in either a Skirmish game or the scenario editor.

African Royals DLC

Welcome to the African Royals, the first DLC for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. It introduces two new civilizations with some different mechanics; however, they are still very similar to the other civilizations in the game.

All the achievements can be earned very quickly, and in fact can be done in as few as four skirmish games. They’re all miscellaneous achievements; however, if you start a Skirmish game, in the Exploration Age, Ultra resources with either of the new civilizations, you should be able to quickly obtain them all, especially if the cheats are used.

Conclusion:
Another fine entry in a great RTS series. Whilst it may not be as popular as Age of Empires 2, it is fortunately a much quicker completion, though the use of cheats is encouraged for the quick completion.

There are 53 achievements with a total of 1150 points

  • Customize any Home City

Simply apply one customization to any home city. See See My Vest! (50G) for more information.
  • Make your first Scenario in the Scenario Editor

Open the scenario editor, then select file and save. Once saved the achievement will unlock.
  • Complete the Blood, Ice and Steel campaign

Story related and can’t be missed.

Whilst you can play though the campaign normally if you wish, if all you care about is achievements then cheats can be used to skip every level and gain this quickly. Once a mission starts hit enter and type “this is too hard" then hit enter again to instantly win.
  • Complete the Fire and Shadow campaign

Story related and can’t be missed.

Unlocked once all missions in the second campaign are complete. See Blood, Ice and Steel (30G) for more information
  • Complete the Asian Dynasties campaign

Story related and can’t be missed.

Unlocked once all missions in the third campaign are complete. See Blood, Ice and Steel (30G) for more information.
  • Use the "tuck tuck tuck" cheat

In any game mode where cheats aren’t disabled, hit enter then type “tuck tuck tuck" and hit enter again spawning a monster truck.
  • Revive your fallen Explorer

In every game you have an explorer who is a hero unit. If he dies in battle his corpse will lie there and get health back. Once he has been left there for a short while move near him with a friendly unit and he will be revived.
  • Win your first multiplayer game

This can be done by hosting a two-player casual game against the AI. See Social Dominance (30G)  for more information.
  • Win your first multiplayer reward

Host a two-player casual game against the AI and allow cheats. Once it starts hit enter and type “tuck tuck tuck", then once the monster truck spawns take it to the other side of the map and wipe out your enemy until you’ve won.
  • Explore an entire map in either Skirmish or Multiplayer game

Go to skirmish and change the game mode to deathmatch, then start the game and the achievement should unlock straight away.
  • Advance to the Imperial Age with any Civilization

Start a standard skirmish game with the starting age set to nomad. Once it starts enter the cheats “a whole lot of love" and “speed always wins" then go to your town centre and age up until you reach the imperial age.
  • Deploy an Advanced Balloon

Note that this is a Home city shipment and not the one you can sometimes choose when you age up.

Select skirmish with the British, and then edit your deck to include the advanced hot air balloon from the industrial age. Set the starting age to industrial age or higher, then start the game. Once it begins enter the cheat “nova & orion". Then, select your shipments and call in the hot air balloon, and once it spawns the achievement will unlock.
  • Win either Skirmish or Multiplayer game and have 25 villagers working on the Community Plaza

Start a two-player skirmish game as one of the native American civilizations such as the Aztecs in the post imperial age. When the game starts enter the cheats “a whole lot of love", “speed always wins" and “tuck tuck tuck" then build 25 villagers and have them build and work on a Community plaza. Meanwhile, send your monster truck over to the enemy base. Once you have 25 villagers on the plaza, wipe your enemy out.
  • Win a Skirmish or Multiplayer game and form alliances with all native villages on the map

This requires you to build a trade post on all the native sites on a map. These are the ones that allow you to train native soldiers. They are different to the trade route ones.

This can be a bit glitchy but one way that seems to unlock the achievement consistently is to play a three-player skirmish game on the map Honshu. Once the game starts use the “a whole lot of love" and “tuck tuck tuck" cheats, send your explorers and villagers around the map building on every trade site - you can even double this up with the Trading Master (10G) achievement - and once you're sure you have them all, send your monster truck to the enemy towns and wipe them out.
  • Win either Skirmish or Multiplayer game and have occupied all of the trading posts on the map

Start a two-player skirmish game and once it starts, find the trade routes and build a trade post at each one, then use the “a whole lot of love” cheat if you need more resources. Once you have all the trade posts on all trade routes, use the “tuck tuck tuck" cheat and take out your enemy.
  • Build every building

There are numerous buildings in the game. See the full list below that are required for the achievement. If you're close but not there, two that you could have easily missed are the house as the French, and the wonders which must be built in the first age, not one after the other.

There’s also no way of tracking which buildings you have built previously so its recommended you make a list and work methodically. You could double up with the No Mains (50G) achievement and just make sure you build every building with every civilization before winning the match and moving onto the next one, even if it means doubling up on buildings. The “a whole lot of love" and “speed always wins" cheats make it go much faster.

The full list of required buildings are:

    European civilizations
    • House
    • Town Centre
    • Trading Post
    • Market

    • House (French, not sure what makes it different but it is apparently)
    • Torp (Swedes, instead of house)
    • Bank (Dutch)
    • Mosque (Ottoman, instead of church)

    • Sacred Field (Indians)
    • Caravanserai (Indian)
    • Shrine (Japanese)
    • Dojo (Japanese) (CARD)
    • All 15 Wonder (they need to be built in the Exploration Age, which will also unlock Wonders (30G))
  • Rescue 100 People in need of help

Each map has treasures that can be collected by your Explorer. Certain treasures will reward you with a person such as a villager. There are a couple of ways to get this: you could spawn a load of explorers and treasures in the Scenario Editor but I find quickest and most reliable is to start a random map game with the map all visible, scout the treasures and find one that rewards you with a person (normally there hiding in a tree, etc.), take your Explorer and kill the Guardians, then quick save the game and collect the treasure. Once collected, quick load and repeat (you can even quick save after telling your Explorer to collect treasure to save time). If you open the guide with “Windows Key + G”, your progress should increase.
  • Collect at least 100 treasure objects from maps in any mode

There are two types of treasure in the game: one will reward with something such as a villager and the other will reward with resources or upgrades. You will need to collect the latter for this. Use the method described in My Hero (20G) but make sure you get something like wood rather than a unit.
  • Destroy at least 100 ships in any mode

Go to the Scenario editor and create a small lake or river, then place loads of enemy fishing ships in it, surround the lake with forts, troops etc, test the Scenario and kill the ships, rinse and repeat if there’s less than 100.
  • Deploy '3 Galleys' from your shipments as the Ottomans

Setup a Skirmish game as the Ottomans. Before it starts put the 3 Galleys card from the fortress age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) for more information.
  • Deploy '4 War Wagons + 4 Uhlans' from your shipments as the Germans

Set up a Skirmish game as the Germans. Before it starts put the 4 War Wagons + 4 Uhlans card from the industrial age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) for more information.
  • Deploy '9 Cavalry Archery' from your shipments as the Russians

Set up a Skirmish game as the Russians. Before it starts put the 9 Cavalry Archery card from the industrial age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) for more information.
  • Build an Advanced; Mill, Market, Arsenal, Dock, Trading Post and Estate in a single playthrough

The Advanced versions can only be built once you have deployed the card from your deck. A single playthrough also means in the same Skirmish match.

Before you begin the match pick one of the European civilisations and create a new deck with the advanced versions of all six buildings in it.

Start a new Skirmish game in the Imperial Age with infinite resources. As soon as it starts enter the “nova and orion" the use all six cards from your shipments. Once they come in, have your villagers build the buildings.
  • Deploy '6 Cuirassier' from your shipments as the French

Set up a Skirmish game as the French. Before it starts put the 6 Cuirassier card from the industrial age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) or more information.
  • Deploy '24 Pikeman' from your shipments as the Spanish

Set up a Skirmish game as the Spanish. Before it starts put the 24 Pikeman card from the industrial age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) for more information.
  • Deploy '2 Rockets' from your shipments as the British

Set up a Skirmish game as the British. Before it starts put the 2 Rockets card from the industrial age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) for more information.
  • Deploy '17 Ruyters' from your shipments as the Dutch

Set up a Skirmish game as the Dutch. Before it starts put the 17 Ruyters card from the industrial age in your deck, then during the game deploy it from your shipments.

See Ribauldequin (30G) for more information.
  • Deploy '5 Organ Guns' from your shipments as the Portuguese

For all the “Deployed X units from shipments” achievements you’ll first want to put the specific card in your deck (in this case the 5 Organ Guns card from the industrial age as the Portuguese) then start a skirmish game with the following settings.

    • Any Map
    • Infinite Resources
    • Industrial Age or higher start

Once it begins enter the cheat “nova & orion", then call in the relevant card from your Deck. You can also use the cheat “Speed Always Wins” to speed it up further.
  • Build all 15 Wonders

Rather than aging up via the town centre, the civilizations from the Asian Dynasties expansion (Indians, Chinese and Japanese) age up by building wonders. Each of the three civilizations has five wonders to build. Note they are all required for the We need more wood! (20G) achievement; however, this is also glitched in a way that means you must build them in the exploration age. So to quickly get this, start a Skirmish game with one of the civilizations, with infinite resources in the exploration age, and as soon as it starts have your villagers build the 1st wonder, then use the cheat “Speed always wins” to speed it up. Once in the next age, resign and start a new match, this time building the second wonder in the list to age up, and then rinse and repeat until you have built all five wonders with all three civilizations.
  • Faith

Convert 100 neutral or enemy units

Go to the scenario editor and create a new scenario. You will want to place an enemy walled box and fill it with melee units (e.g. dragoons) for player 2, then place your priests (player 1) on the outside of the wall. Test the scenario and convert all the units inside the walled box, and repeat if there isn't 100 until the achievement unlocks.
  • Build 100 Elephant units in a single game

Start a skirmish game as the Indians, any map, infinite resources, fortress age or higher start.

Once it begins enter the “speed always wins" cheat, build a castle and loads of houses. Then just spam build elephants at the castle. If you run out of population delete some and build some more until the achievement unlocks.
  • Win 25 Multiplayer games

Start a 2 player multiplayer game with you vs one AI opponent.

Once it starts use the “tuck tuck tuck" cheat and drive the truck to the enemy base to wipe them out. Repeat 24 more times and this will unlock.

If you use the “nova & orion" cheat three times each game and use the same Civilization such as the British this will eliminate a majority of the grinding towards See My Vest! (50G).
  • Win all Skirmish games with all Civilizations in Hardest Mode

Follow the strategy in Old fashioned (50G) and after each game simply change your civilization to the next in the list and repeat.
  • Win a Skirmish game without requesting any Shipments

Follow the strategy in Old fashioned (50G) just make sure during the brief game you don’t request a shipment. Just use your monster truck to destroy the enemy instead.
  • Win a Skirmish game with only cavalry and artillery units

Follow the strategy in Old fashioned (50G) just make sure during the brief game you don’t train any units. Just use your monster truck to destroy the enemy instead.
  • Win a Skirmish game with only mercenaries units

Start a two-player skirmish game on the Easiest difficulty on a small map (e.g. Alaska) with infinite resources, imperial age, start any other settings. As soon as it starts build a saloon and several houses. From the saloon start training men and head over to the enemy base and destroy them, making sure to only train units from the saloon for the duration of the game.
  • Win game on Hardest difficulty without upgrading your Town Center

Start a two-player skirmish game on the Hardest difficulty on a small map (e.g. Alaska) with any other settings. As soon as it starts enter the “Tuck Tuck Tuck” cheat and take it over to the enemy base, destroy it and you should win.

*Important* do not age up your town centre during this game

If you avoid doing anything else like building units or requesting shipments you will also unlock Here comes the cavalry! (30G) and Budget Cut (30G) at the same time.
  • Control all pets

Go to the Scenario editor. Once loaded go to objects, change the type to units, then search for pets and place one of each pet for player 1. Once done test the Scenario and the achievement should unlock.

You’ll want to have placed at least 1 each of:
Black Bear, Brown Bear Cougar, Coyote, Grizzly Bear, Jaguar, Lion, Monitor Lizard, Orangutan, Panda, Polar Bear, Rhino, Snow Monkey, Tibetan Macaque, Tiger, White Tiger and a Wolf.
  • Hunt all animal species

This is actually obtained by killing large numbers of animals, so you can kill treasure Guardians, deer, etc. They don’t need to be different types, just keep killing them and eventually it will be unlocked.
  • Unlock all Home City Cosmetics for any Civilization

You can double this up with Social Dominance (30G) to avoid extra grinding, just pick one civilization with a customizable home city such as the British or French, then start a two-player multiplayer game with you vs one AI opponent.

Once it starts use the “nova & orion" cheat three times then use “tuck tuck tuck" cheat and drive the truck to the enemy base to wipe them out, repeating to level up quickly, and once levelled up sufficiently, go to the home city on the main screen, customise and purchase all the customizations one after the other. When the final one for your chosen civilization is unlocked, the achievement will also unlock.
  • Receive at least 100 shipments total from your home city in any mode

This should come naturally if you play. Alternatively, start a skirmish match and use the cheat “nova & orion” repeatedly until you have 100 shipments available, then use “speed always wins." Finally, call in shipments of something repeatedly such as chords of wood, etc.
  • Kill at least 10 enemy troops from a rolling cannonball

There are a couple of ways of doing this. The simplest is to play a skirmish or multiplayer game against a single hard difficulty AI. Once it starts use the “speed always wins” cheat so they can amass a large army. In the meanwhile also use the “Ya gotta make do with what ya got” cheat a couple of times so you get some mediocre bombards. Once the enemy attacks with a large army, just keep attacking them with your cannons until it unlocks.

DLC: The African Royals (Store Link)

There are 11 achievements with a total of 150 points

  • Built a University near a Town Center, Palace, and Trading Post.

The University is unique to the Hausa. Start a skirmish game as the Hausa, infinite resources, any map with trading posts (Texas is probably best). Once it starts, construct a Palace and Trading post, then build Universities near to each and the achievement will unlock.

NOTE: One University can cover multiple buildings, so this could be done with just one if the other buildings are close to each other.
  • Earned 10,000 Coin from Mountain Monasteries on Mines.

Playing as either the Hausa or the Ethiopians, start a skirmish game, ultra resources, any map (I like Texas), one easy AI. Once it starts, use the “x marks the spot” cheat to reveal the map then use “speed always wins”. From there, take your Villagers and build a Mountain Monastery on top of all the Mine and the achievement should unlock in no time.
  • Deployed '8 Lifidi Knights’ from your shipments as the Hausa.

First, go to the deck builder and add the '8 Lifidi Knights’ card from the Industrial Age to a deck called The Beginner One, then start a skirmish game as the Hausa, Industrial Age Start. Once it begins, use the cheat “Nova & Orion”, then select your shipments, choose the deck you updated and the card for the '8 Lifidi Knights’.
  • Deployed '2 Sebastopol Mortars' from your shipments as the Ethiopians.

Start a skirmish game as the Ethiopians, Industrial Age Start. Once it begins, use the cheat “Nova & Orion”, then select your shipments, choose The Beginner Deck and the card for the two Sebastopol Mortars.
  • Safari

    15

Collected 10 Treasures on African maps.

Start a skirmish game on the African Maps against one easy AI, then any other setting (I chose post imperial Age Start). Once it begins, use the cheat “x marks the spot” and take your explorer around, collecting all the treasures. It is cumulative across multiple games but normally there’s enough to do it in one go.
  • Spent 10,000 Influence playing as the Hausa or the Ethiopians.

Influence is a new resource for the Hausa and Ethiopians and is used for several items. Start a skirmish game as either the Hausa or the Ethiopians, Ultra resources, Exploration age start. Once it begins, use the “speed always wins” cheat to rapidly level up through the ages, build a couple of building and research everything at them and the achievement should unlock.
  • Gained 500 Coin from a single sale at the Livestock Market.

Playing as either the Hausa or the Ethiopians, start a skirmish game, ultra-resources, any map, one easy AI. Once it starts, use the “speed always wins” cheat. From there, take your villagers and build livestock market; build some cows and surround the market with 10 of them. Once the amount to sell them reaches 500 gold, sell and the achievement will unlock.
  • Won a game as the Hausa.

Start a multiplayer or skirmish game as the Hausa. Once it starts, use the “tuck tuck tuck" cheat and drive the truck to the enemy base to wipe them out and this will unlock.
  • Won a game as the Ethiopians.

Start a multiplayer or skirmish game as the Ethiopians. Once it starts, use the “tuck tuck tuck" cheat and drive the truck to the enemy base to wipe them out and this will unlock.
  • Picked each Hausa Alliance once.

Hausa Age up by choosing Alliances. There are 8 in total so this will take a minimum of two games.

Start a skirmish game in the Exploration Age, any map, infinite resources. Once it starts, enter the cheat 'speed always wins' then age up four times, picking four different allies.

NOTE: The Allies always remain in the same order but only five can be shown at once, so in the first game, you pick the first one on the list every time you age up, and the second game, pick the last one on the list and this should mean you don’t miss any.

    The allies required are
    • Berbers
    • Hausa
    • Moroccans
    • Songhai
    • Akan
    • Fulani
    • Yoruba
    • British
  • Picked each Ethiopian Allegiance once.

Ethiopians Age up by choosing Alliances. There are 8 in total so this will take a minimum of two games.

Start a skirmish game in the Exploration Age, any map, infinite resources. Once it starts, enter the cheat 'speed always wins' then age up four times, picking four different allies.

NOTE: The Allies always remain in the same order but only five can be shown at once, so in the first game, you pick the first one in the list every time you age up, and the second game, pick the last one in the list and this should mean you don’t miss any.

    The allies required are

    • Habseha
    • Jesuits
    • Portuguese
    • Sudanese
    • Indians
    • Oromo
    • Arabs
