The only difficulty of obtaining all the achievements lies in finding someone to play on Xbox Live, and getting two red L powerups in one round to attempt “A Piercing Light.”

Introduction:

Arkanoid is a pretty straightforward game and most of the achievements are as well. There are four episodes, two of which are DLC. The two DLC episodes do not factor into achievements, all of them can be (or must be) obtained in the first two episodes. You will also need a second player/controller for the one local play achievement. An additional playthrough will be required on ONE of the episodes for the same local co-op achievement.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

Step #1- Get the Live/vs. achievements out of the way:

There are two of them, and they are not particulary fun. First, if you are lucky enough to find someone who plays online, play some Xbox Live matches. More than likely, you will have to ask in the Achievement Trading thread to play ten matches (win or lose) for “The Real Battle Specialist." Play one round, and lose on purpose ten times. Then, you must WIN 10 matches against the computer, offline. Set the rounds to 1, set the CPU Level to 1, and you should have no problems with “The Mock Battle Specialist.”

Step #2- Just Play! (and then grab a friend if you can):

You get an achievement for clearing Episode 1, and also for Episode 2 in single player. Must be done by yourself. Also, play with a friend (or if you are friendless, plug in a 2nd controller) and replay either chapter for another. Also, there are 4 achievements for progressing/clearing episodes without continues, two for Ep. 1, and two for Ep. 2. Completing the first ten rounds in each episode without continues should be easy. Completing all of the rounds w/ no continues can be tough, but are easier and unlockable with a co-op partner. I personally suggest using max barriers with the ball speed on slow, and of course on Easy difficulty. Barriers remember, reset after each round. So with the two single player episode playthroughs and the one co-op episode playthrough, you are looking at playing a minimum of three episodes.

Along your way, grab a Mini Vaus powerup and destroy 10 blocks, and make sure you have enemies ON to destroy 100 of them for another achievement.

Step #3- A Piercing Light:

This achievement is the most difficult, and sadly involves some chance. Getting a red L powerup lets you shoot blocks, but getting two in a row in one round, lets you shoot through the blocks. For this achievement you have to shoot through 16 blocks with one shot. Some levels don’t even have that many blocks that can be shot at once based off the placement of them or gold blocks in the way. When the opportunity arises, make sure you are ready. Always be on the lookout for the proper placement of blocks, and L powerups. Round six, episode two has been suggested in the Achievement Guide as a good round, but even be ready on Live or versus matches, as it can be done there as well.

Conclusion:

Should be an easy 200. If you have troubles with the no continues achievements, make sure to play co-op. A Piercing Light is all about opportunity, so seize it.

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Clear Episode 1 in 1P Play.

Change the settings to Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off. Clear all 30 rounds, and the boss. Continuing is allowed, but you can get your Certificate of Doh achievement if you don’t die. As the achievement reads though, must be single player.
  • Clear Episode 2 in 1P Play.

Change the settings to Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off. Clear all 30 rounds, and the boss. Continuing is allowed, but you can get your Certificate of Bones achievement if you don’t die. As the achievement reads though, must be single player.
  • Clear the first 10 Rounds of Episode 1 without continuing.

The first 10 rounds are easy. Put the settings on Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off. Can be done in co-op or single player.
  • Clear the first 30 Rounds of Episode 1 without continuing.

Change the settings to Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off. Sometimes, letting the ball hit the barrier is worth it to catch a good powerup. Barriers reset to five after each round, so this achievement should come easy. Can be done in co-op or single player.
  • Clear the first 10 Rounds of Episode 2 without continuing.

The first 10 rounds are easy. Change the settings to Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off. Can be done in co-op or single player.
  • Clear the first 30 Rounds of Episode 2 without continuing.

Episode 2 is no harder than Episode 1. Change the settings to Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off again. Can be done in co-op or single player.
  • Clear an Episode with the assistance of a friend.

Since co-op is only local, plug in another controller and play with a friend, or if no one is available to play, you should win easily with the other controller dormant. Just play on Easy, with five barriers, and enemies off. You can work on your Certificate of Bones/Doh, and The First Step(s) achievements in Co-Op.
  • Defeat the computer.

Set up a Vs. CPU match, one round, with no barriers, and computer AI at 1. The computer will either miss and lose, or you will clear all the blocks first. You should win most of the time, but don’t fret if you lose here and there.
  • Combat rivals from around the world!

Create a match and set the Rounds to 1. If no one enters your game, than try searching for one. If that fails, organize a time to boost in the Achievement Trading Thread. No need to win so just let the ball pass if you don’t care about winning.
  • Destroy large numbers of Enemies!

Play rounds with enemies ON and this shouldn't take to long. Play in single player to assure you are the only one destroying enemies.
  • Master the Mini-Vaus!

Collect the Black R powerup when it falls to reduce your Vaus size to half and destroy ten blocks. Should be obtainable in a single round.
  • Master the Power Laser!

Obtain the Power Laser by collecting two Red L powerups in succession in a single round. This will allow you to shoot through the regular and silver bricks, as opposed to regular laser powers. Shoot 16 with one shot when such opportunity arises. It is possible on a number of rounds, including online and Vs. matches. Episode Two, Round Six is a good place to get this. Just make sure you don’t collect a different powerup after your first Red L powerup, and try to leave 16 blocks shootable in this round, or any other time where it seems possible.
