Introduction:
“In this fantasy world, one of the brave heroes leads your chess army to victory. Choose between a mysterious fairy, a dangerous dwarf, a clever elf, a brave prince, and many more. Cartoon visuals make the game friendly to everyone. What’s going on there! Arrows fly above heads and swords break in the heat of battle. Or maybe you prefer classic chess? You can always change your pieces to traditional ones.

Brawl Chess - Gambit connects generations in a multiplayer mode, but a single player will also appeal to players of all ages. There are five levels of difficulty. The first is great for kids to learn. The fifth is suited for chess experts who are looking for a serious challenge.” - microsoft.com

Brawl Chess is a basic chess game with five levels of difficulty. The object of the game is for each player to move their pieces around the board in preset directions and try to capture the opposing King. Whereas other chess games like Pure Chess or Chess Ultra are more traditional chess games with generally harder achievements, Brawl Chess is aimed more at the younger audience, although with no tutorial, you would need some knowledge of the rules of the game. Why they decided to not include a tutorial is curious.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
For the purposes of this guide, we will be utilizing a chess solver website in order to earn the achievements quickly. We will be playing two 2-Player games for seven (7) achievements and three 1-Player games for three (3) achievements. For the final two achievements, we will be grinding our captures in approximately 12-14 2-Player games.

Note: Be careful to duplicate the moves exactly because there is no undo in Brawl Chess. If need be, just start a new game and try again if you make an error.

The achievement guide below was written in a certain order to help maximize your time and earn the achievements as quick as possible.

Playthrough 1 and 2:
For the first two 2-Player games, we will be using THIS SITE. The top-left panel of the site says ‘Game 1’ and ‘Game 2’. For each of these, the site has programmed preset moves to help unlock these achievements quicker. Follow the solutions for Classic move. (75G) and There is not enough room! (50G) to unlock these first seven (7) achievements effortlessly.

Playthrough 3 through 5:
For the next three 1-Player games, we will be using THIS SITE. Before we begin, there is a toggle switch at the top-right of the right panel, so click that so it turns green. You will notice on the board that an arrow has appeared, indicating the white piece’s (yours) best move.

These playthroughs are random with the number of moves and the pieces captured, but if you follow the solution in Novice (100G) for all three difficulties, you really shouldn’t have any issues. Winning on all three difficulties will unlock Novice (100G), Beginner (125G) and Competence (150G).

Playthrough 6 through 18-20:
For the final two achievements, Get over here! (75G) and I am still hungry! (100G), you need to capture 50 and 250 pieces. Again, we will be playing a 2-Player game over and over again until these have unlocked. This should take approximately 12-14 games, depending on how many pieces were captured previously, at roughly 2.5 minutes each game.

For these games, we will be using the Queen to capture all the pieces. We will once again be using THIS SITE. In the top-left panel, there is a selection called ‘Capturing Pieces Grind’, so click that and perform the moves on the website in the game until there is only the black King left. Follow the solution for I am still hungry! (100G) and repeat this process until both ‘capture x pieces’ achievements unlock.

After a couple of games, you probably won’t even need to use the website anymore as you will have memorized what needs to be done, and you will most likely get quicker with each game.

Conclusion:
Brawl Chess isn’t a very challenging game achievement-wise, and using a chess solver makes it that much easier. As said in the Introduction, Pure Chess or Chess Ultra provides a more challenging experience, but if you want an easy 1000gs.png in about an hour, Brawl Chess is your go-to game. Congratulations!

  • Capture 250 pieces

    Playthrough #6 through #18-20

Options do not matter because for these last two achievements as we will be playing 2-Player games. Open a browser on your device and go to THIS LINK and select the ‘3 - Capturing Pieces Grind’ chapter in the top-left panel.

For Get over here! (75G) and this achievement, we’re going to use our Queen to capture all 15 opposing pieces while Player 2 just keeps moving their King around. Using the wheel on your mouse (or the forward button below the panel on the right [>|]), follow the moves on the website and duplicate those moves in the game. We first need to move a couple of pawns out of the way so we can ultimately move the white Queen and black King from their starting positions. Then we’ll use the white Queen to capture pieces one-by-one while moving the black King out of its way.

Once there is just the black King remaining, press button-menu.png then button-b.png to return to the menu and repeat. On the website, click on the fast rewind button (|<<) at the bottom of the panel on the right to reset the pieces and start your next playthrough.

This will take approximately 12-14 playthroughs, depending on how many pieces were captured during the three difficulty achievements. Each playthrough lasts approximately 2:00-2:30 minutes, and after a few playthroughs, you probably won’t even need to use the website anymore. Unfortunately, there is no tracking showing you how many pieces you’ve captured but every move is saved immediately. Get over here! (75G) should unlock during your second or third game.

If the arrow is not present, click the three horizontal lines in the bottom right-hand corner of the same panel and toggle the ‘Best move arrow’ switch to green.

On the website, perform the suggested move for your piece, and then duplicate that move in the game. Since this a 1-Player game, the A.I. will perform their own move in the game.
