Introduction:
Child of Eden is a rhythmic rail shooter from mastermind Tetsuya Mizuguchi and the sequel to Rez. On your way through five huge trippy levels you try to save Lumi. You can use the Kinect to play this game and it's highly recommended on your first playthrough for an amazing experience. After that you should plug in your controller since it's easier to master the game. The game is broken up into five stages and one challange level. You have to play through the game on both normal and hard while reaching the ultimate goal of getting Gold Stars on every stage.

1st Playthough - Normal:
Just play through the game on normal without worrying about any achievements. You will get the ones for achieving perfect Octa-Locks along the way.

2nd Playthrough - Hard and Hope Archive:
After you finished all five archives on normal you will unlock hard mode and the challenge stage, which is called Hope. Go through the game on hard and try to beat hope afterward since it's by far the most difficult stage in the game.

Getting 100% and 5 Stars on every stage:
Now the fun part begins. You will try and get 100% on every archive (both normal and hard). You also need to reach 800.000 Points on every level to get the 5 Star Rank. You get one 15 achievement for every level you get 800.000 on. This has to be done on both Normal and Hard. After you've done this, you should also have purified every enemy in the game, unlocked everything in the Extras menu, and may have gotten every item in Lumi's Garden. Depending on the items, you should now have 900 or 950 . There is only one thing left to do.

Getting Gold Stars on every stage:
This is the last step and the one that will probably cost you your sanity. To get a Gold Star Rank on an archive, you have to get over 800.000 while still defeating every enemy for the 100% purification. This will be a hard test and not many will have the skills to do it.

Conclusion:
You should now have 1000 in Child of Eden and can be very proud of your achievement. If you don't have all the items in Lumi's garden by now, just replay the levels you need and can finish the game for good.

This is the first achievement you'll get in the game. Just use to lock onto the first enemy you see, let go off the button and kill it.

Achieved a Perfect Octa-Lock.
To get a perfect Octa-Lock you need to lock onto 8 enemies or parts of them at once. You will see that the ring turns white/silver. Now you have to find the beat of the rhythm and kill them in tune with the music. This can be hard for some people. So just try tapping your foot or tilting your head with the rhythm. This works very well.
Hot Shot

Achieved a total of 100 Perfect Octa-Locks.
This will come over time and should pop up before you finish the game for the first time.
The Skills That Pay The Bills

Achieved 10 consecutive Perfect Octa-Locks.
Later in the game you will pull this off constantly. But for the beginning just wait for a boss fight and only use perfect Octa-Locks. So always lock onto 8 parts at once and listen to the music to find the sweet spot. This will maybe take some getting used to but after playing through each stage once, you'll get the hang of it.

Just watch the videos in this guide. While killing everything on screen you will also get every object in the stage. Just watch out for the orbs when they come out of the enemy and shoot it once.

Just finish every archive on the normal difficulty setting. You need 20 stars to unlock the Journey archive. This will stack, so replaying a level will give you more stars. The game itself is not very hard. If you just want to beat a stage, keep pressing and hammer on to kill everything as fast as possible. Use euphoria when you know you can't avoid a hit and get new items through shooting them.

To unlock hard mode, you first have to beat all five stages on normal. Than just press and go to the difficulty settings. Switch to hard mode and beat every stage again. This time you take double the damage, a few enemies take more hits, there are sometimes 2-4 new enemies in a phase and the purple missiles will be faster and higher in numbers. So watch out and always go for the missiles first. If you don't do this, stage four and five will rape you in an instant. If you have trouble just go back to normal and work on 100% or the 5 stars. After doing this you will have a good understanding of the levels and should be able to do it.

This is without a doubt the hardest stage in the game and will test your skills. You will fight through 10 stages that take about 20 minutes to beat. Some are harder than others. You only have three lifes and one euphoria. You won't get any items so try not to get hit and only use your euphoria on the last level when things get out of hand. Just keep at it and you will eventually get this done.

To unlock all the extras you need to do the following:
- Beat every archive on Normal (excluding hope)
- Beat every archive on Hard (excluding hope)
- Beat every archive without getting hit (excluding hope)
- Beat the hope archive
- Get 100% on every archive (only normal)
- Get a 5 Star Rank on every archive (only normal)
For some of the pictures in the gallery you also need to do some other stuff like beating a boss in a specific time. For those just keep pressing and hammer on as fast as you can.
To beat the six butterflies in the Beauty archive with one hit just do a perfect Octa-Lock. The rest of them will come while doing the tasks written above. If you still miss any of them, just look at the ones missing in the extras-menu. The game will tell you what to do.

You don't need to get a Gold Star Rank for any of these.

Ok, this is the big one. This achievement will drive you insane. You have to get a Gold Star Rank on every archive (not hope). But to make things even worse, you also have to do it on hard. This will test you. The best tip I can give you is to do the 100% and 800.000 points achievements first. Then you know what to do and "only" have to pull off a perfect run.

I made a video guide that shows you how to get 5 stars (800.000 points) on every level. For this you don't need to hit every enemy. Just focus on getting perfect Octa-Locks. If there aren't enough enemies on screen, just kill them quickly for some easy points. You will have to play through the stages several times before getting to know them well. Doing this on hard mode is obviously another story as the enemies will shoot more and more missiles at your screen.
