    Kill 72,000 zombies.

  • How to unlock Zombie Genocide Master

You'll spend an entire playthrough dedicated to running over zombies with a SUV. Head on over to the post below for details on the generally accepted fastest method. The big upside of this method is that you can reload your game whenever you feel you've had a bad run.

A full walkthrough can be found here.

  • Anyone know why this completely pointless achievement is in here? Personally it doesn't seem all that fun to me to have to waste an entire playthrough grinding kills.
  • It actually isn't too difficult to unlock this. There is a specific strategy to it. The thing about this game is I dislike how all the achievements are worth the same value. Killing 72,000 zombies should be worth a lot more gamer points than killing 1,000 zombies, yet they're both only 20G. But, just grab the driving magazine, the SUV Key, and drive the SUV up and down the strips and Fortune Park racking up the kills. You can usually grab around 2,000 in one use of the SUV this way. Save, quit, load, repeat.
  • I didn't say it was hard. I said it wasn't fun. Wasting an entire playthrough just running over zombies? Booooring and actually really pointless. See, Zombie Genocider in the first game at least made since because that was the population of the town told to you at the start, so it's like "Haha I get it I'm killing everything." This time's like "Oh here's this completely random high number have fun grinding."
  • 1k zombies per hour
  • does this acheivment carry over?
  • Nope, you must hit 72,000 kills in one playthrough. I'm working on it now, but man, I hate this pointless grinding. Meeeeeeeeeeeh. If anyone from the press team is reading this and you ever get an interview with someone at Capcom or Blue Castle, try to ask them what they were thinking when they put this in here if you can. It'd be much appreciated.
  • lol
  • At least it's better than sitting for fucking 14 hours straight before your tv-set, killing the crap out of all sorts of people you just saved, and other nutcases who are being fucking resurrected out of nowhere. I think the 5 and 7 day survivor achievements from the previous installation of Dead Rising are just made for the hardcore and die-hard achievement whores in the world. :P
  • Ha! Just got it without any stupid tricks. This is me giving the finger to all the tools out there who say you should do any of the following: Have a co-op buddy dupe driving or bike books so you can drive for a lot longer (this one actually hurts you anyway, idiots). Do the cases so you have more time. Isn't needed if you just do it right in the first place, twats! Use the bike because the SUV doesn't get enough kills. Yes it does, idiots! Plus the bike has the added bonus of wasting more than twice the time it takes to get into the SUV and start driving because you have to go all the way to the stage to get a chainsaw and then go aaaaaaaaall the way back to the trailer. While you numbnuts were doing that, I've gotten hundreds of kills in the SUV already. Go into the little pathway
  • Go into the little pathway leading to the safe house because that's where most of the kills are. This one is also crap and you waste more time backing yourself out (even if you don't go down the stairs) and there are plenty of other big groups of zombies you can hit without stopping and backing up after going through them out there. So yeah everyone... Just ignore any of the above bad advice some people will try to give you and just drive in the SUV. You'll be fine.
  • I just went into the action. Fuck Katey and her ZombAIDS, fuck the stupid missions, fuck the fucking sidemissions :) I am at 26 september 12.00 am, had 31.000 kills.
  • SUV FTW
  • Does anyone know if the SUV key carries over to later play troughs becuase I have about 400k so far.
  • I Kill Zombiez 4 Fun :P
  • This isn't hard. Don't do the case files for the Zombrex. - Grab the magazine - Stick to a good route - Don't ever let the SUV explode - Save every 5k kills I just completed it on first attempt on Day 4 - 01:25am, a whole 8 and a half virtual hours before game over. If you can kill about 6k zombies before Katey dies, then you're well on track. Good luck.
  • lol sigmund has the idea
  • has anybody ever got this without buying the suv, killing, saving, quitting, loading??????????????
  • i have gotten it without any of those methods
  • i have gotten it without using any of these methods
  • "At least it's better than sitting for fucking 14 hours straight before your tv-set, killing the crap out of all sorts of people you just saved, and other nutcases who are being fucking resurrected out of nowhere. I think the 5 and 7 day survivor achievements from the previous installation of Dead Rising are just made for the hardcore and die-hard achievement whores in the world. :P" Are you kidding? Survivor mode is awesome. It's not that hard if you're not dumb about it. I would always start in the park and kill the Sniper family, they each dropped a full cooked pizza and something else that heals a lot. I literally spent over a day just hanging out in the park, either on the safety of the roof where they spawn (I believe) or, just running around beating down zombies.
  • Just go find the book that makes your motor cycle 3 times as strong then put the rabbit on the back you should now have a bike that is 6x its strength
  • this achievement is bullshit
  • @#9 You can go suck a dick if you're just going to be a douche. I didn't bother even finishing reading your "guide" on how to do it without tricks (or so you claim) since you feel the need to be such a douche for no reason. Ass.
  • @#23 Agreed
  • Nice one MJC. Spoken like a true twat. Been using the bike & many magazine route and I'm getting 1K kills in about 50 in-game minutes. so fuck you and your "advice". Knob
  • Also, I lol'd sigmund. I did the same. Redhead girl kept phoning saying "KATEY IS DYING!" And I preverbially farted into the microphone and went back to killing
  • Just started my run for this. Grabbed the driving magazine, made a few quicksteps (for quicker trips to the save room) and just started running up and down the strip with the SUV. Since you have 72 virtual hours, you should aim for 1k zombies per game hour (5 real minutes). Right now I'm right on track. 40 hours left and I've got about 33k zombies mowed down.
  • how long on average does this take?? how many zombies should b killed in an hr.??
  • Tryed to do this - did not give katey her zombrex spent ages in the casino getting the 2 million for the suv keys i also used a bike and the suv but when the milliatry came i only had around 15,000 in kills major piss off
  • Just got it with 1 min left on clock, woulda been pissed
  • I love zombies but hate pointless achievements. If I wanted to spend another 6 hours killing zombies i would play left 4 dead but now Genocidest achievements on guitar hero and rock band who cares anymore? Yeah it always involves a car.. But why cant it have the system of left 4 dead where it actually saves it! Is it that hard for the creators to make it that way? G-Tag DougTheJoker
  • If someone wanna try to get this and other achievements you can add me. GT: Pezukarhu
  • This achievement is BS. It's WAAAAAY harder than getting 54k kills in Dead Rising 1. I could get 54k kills with 37 hours left in DR1, but this one is ridiculous. I'm trying my first run now (testing some tactics) and am way behind schedule for the 72k. Why do developers think we like pointless timesink achievements?!? I'm tired of collecting things in games, whether it be flags, feathers, spider-man symbols, etc. or trying to get XXXX number of kills in a playthrough. At least make it something like L4D where you kill a certain number over multiple playthroughs, rather than this garbage. This is way harder than 7 day survivor, if you had a decent guide for that one it was a cakewalk. I got it first try with plenty of food left.
  • Stupidest… Achievement… Ever… I’ve often wondered if game developers have to live secret lives outside of their job. Because if there was someone living in my neighborhood that had anything to do with putting this stupid achievement in the game I’d go beat the living sh1t out of them. Either that or lock them in a friggin room with no food or water until they got this for me. At the very least they could have made your kill count carry over like everything else did, so after all your other play throughs you would be at least a few thousand ahead.
  • At least in DR-1 the underground where you had to grind out the kills was just a roadway free of obstacles. You had a straight shot at running them down and you weren’t having to go up/down stairs, hitting god damn trash cans/benches/etc. that slow you down or stop you completely all the time. There were also three cars and you could just drive from one to the next, switching out as they wore out, and keep a constant momentum going. Also I really don’t get all these people saying to use the magazines to make your vehicle last X times longer. What’s the point? I’m getting about 1500 kills per round with the SUV with no magazine at all, I‘m not waiting for it to explode either so I could probably get more if I tried, but any more than that and they are so thinned out you’re only hitti
  • ... hitting one or two at a time, you have to reload the area to let them respawn anyway.
  • ppl saying u have to quit the game and load is a lie u can just leave the area and go back and the SUV will be there... takes way too long to quit and load
  • lol i totally agree with mjc, this achievement is stoopid.
  • I love the game but this achievement simply sucks >_
  • As boring and pointless as this achievement was, it was still better than the 7 Day Survivor achievement in DR1. Forcing the player to play for 14 hours straight is BS, but the worst part about it was that 90% of your time was spent hiding and waiting for your life to drain so you could eat some food and wait another 20 minutes.
  • Just as bad as Smackdown vs raw 2011 - Man of 1,004 holds
  • Just as bad as Smackdown vs raw 2011 - Man of 1,004 holds
  • sorry double post and wtf 390g behinde
  • if you do it co-op you could get your mate to set up the bike with chainsaw while your in the suv
  • Can someone help me out with this achievement? Send a message to HALFDEAD HITMAN on XBOX 360
  • I really hate the benches when you're driving the SUV. The metal barricades too.
  • Yes, the SUV is the answer but what should be a fun and hilarious experience massacring zombie becomes a tiresome grind and a wasted play-through. For one achievement.
  • I remember trying to get this early on, ended up making it to 70k and time ran out. That was heart breaking...
  • Capcom makes great "waste of time" achievements
  • this cheevo is bs :( ive got a save on day 3 with between 60-65k kills and i load it up and start killing get up 2 about 68k kills and it freezes no matter what i do. i try saving around 65k kills and it will freeze up. *sigh*
  • It's pretty funny hearing people moan about this achievement being pointless when really it is no more or less pointless than any other achievement. Sure it's a pain in the ass to get and a serious drain on time but at the end of the day all any achievement does is add an arbitary number to another arbitrary number and then what can you do with it, well you can compare it with other people's number to see who's number is bigger. Tell me the whole thing isn't pointless. For me a lot of the enjoyment comes from sticking in at challanges the developers have set. The actual achievement of the achievement is managing to stick in and pass the challange and if that challange be coming in first in a race, getting a certain kill streak, collecting all the secret items or grinding away for severa
  • I really hate this achievement. Its so hard for me to get 10K kills :S
  • You know whats funny? The game glitched out for me and i got the suv keys for free.
  • Im sure the Developer is responsible for the Achievements within the game so you should really be blaming "Blue Castle". I got to 64000 kills when the game ended and that was by completing the cases to allow the overtime to happen. So now its time to try by forgetting all the cases, survivors and Psychopaths.
  • Its not acctually that hard if you think about it i mean i have nearlly done it and i have been having fun killing the zombies i got most kills with the SUV
  • If any one wants to know how i did it send me a message
  • If you do not want to sit in front of your TV for 14hrs getting this achievement, you could get the modified queen and go down in the underground. The bee will kill everything for you and you can let it sit overnight, etc.
  • Just got it with 10 in-game minutes left. Would've broken something if I hadn't made it. Bullshit achievement.
  • this one is gonna take me a while
  • grab the driving mag, SUV Key and drive the SUV up and down the strips and Fortune Park for thousands of kills in no time, damn I wish there where such an easy way like this to get the Gears of War 2 - Seriously 2.0
  • little advice, DON'T try to get the Zombie Fu cheevo while attempting this one like I did, now im at day 3 at 8:30 pm and I only got 43K kills
  • I did it! Took me three tries, (The second try I missed it by 200), but now, finally with like ten minutes to spare I got the Achievement! Never stop believing!!
  • @51 I don't see why you would waste your time saying how pointless it is for someone to waste their time going for achievements when playing video games in themselves is meant for entertainment and time wasting...
  • I don't understand why everyone is complaining about this achievement, its a bit time consuming; but just about any game of any genre has an Achievement that takes just as long and is just as boring if not more. If you don't like the achievement then why do it? I'm sure you could fine another game to get 20 Gamerscore a hell of alot fasterif you are strictly rooting for Gamerscore.
  • Pfft, This is easy :D... Just got to save and load every couple of up-downs you do.
  • i got this and gave katie zombrex 3 times. :) saved game at 65k, and military came when i had 71,896. then loaded game and got it with 72,060. yeah :)
  • Anybody still feel like co-oping this and a couple achievements? Send me a message on here or xbox I Madrox Knox I
  • I, by some miracle, killed 8k Zombies before Katey died.. I got pretty hardcore with the SUV even though watching my driving makes me wanna barf.. Anyway, I'm currently on about 54K Zombies and it's a little after 9PM on day 3. I don't know how condfident I should be, about achieving this. But I really don't want to have to do this again, it's possibly even more boring than "Zombie Fu" and "Smashy" achievement. So I was hoping that somebody could confirm if I'm on track or not!! Even though I'm nearly there it would be nice to know ahead of time, if I'm wasting my time or not..
  • only 20g wow..
  • I'm trying this for the 2nd time, I was about 4,000 short in my 1st attempt! I really hate this achievement it's incredibly boring!! But when I last saved and quit, I was on 15,000 and something a little before 9pm on day 1.. I don't know if I'm on track or not yet, but I do know I hate this achievement and the person who thought of it!!
  • Damn I didn't know this had to be one playthrough...
  • I like how there are 72 comments!
  • ...crap.
  • I don't see myself ever getting this one ...
  • Currently on 63,000 kills at 9PM Day 3... my eyeballs feel like they're going to explode. Can't wait til I've got this one out of the way haha!
  • I finally got this cheevo last night. It was a pain in the ass and it was heartbreaking. I finished it with 15-in-game-minutes (60 sec IRL)left before the military arrived and game-over. Yeaaaaahhh! I did this with the SUV and had like 2500 kills before it exploded. Before the explotion just go to the Yucatan Casino and than go back to the Silver Strip where the SUV will spawn again in the Shamrock Casino. Keep repeating this and you'll eventually get it :)
  • I did the save in center of strip, reload save, get in golf cart & drive to SUV, get around 1000 kills, save & reload. Managed to hit 72k kills at 6:11 a.m on Day 4.
  • just got this on my first attempt. Day 4 4:39am, passively killed leon focusing more on getting nearly 1000/run while he was out and hitting him when opportunity arose, killed janus immediately by getting out and doing him in. ignore the snipers. i also was wearing regular clothing, not special suits of any kind. i also used this map as a guide for the path, keeping the most zombies spawnable at a time is important. overall i was averaging just over 1000/run the whole time, but there was many runs which were around 900 due to me fine tuning my path. http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dead-rising-2/74793-dr2-zombie-genocide-master.html i guess this is the sister site?
  • This achievement is such a pile of shit and a waste of time for the amount of gamerscore it's worth. totally not worth 20G. it's worth 75G or so in my opinion. maybe even higher
  • It's just their way of forcing u to play this game more than u probly would. This is no where near as bad as that super stupid Gears of Wars' "Seriously" achievements. I stiiil don't have that chieve and I've had this games since it 1st came out.
  • Tried this 3 years ago and got to 67k and the game ended. Decided to give it another go this morning. It is extremely tedious, boring, and time consuming. Get the SUV drive up....and down... Goto the casino door nearest the SUV spawn..Repeat, I suggest only saving once every 5-10k kills using the outdoor rest room. I finished with 10-20 minutes of real time to spare...very boring and ridiculous achievement in my opinion. This game has too many of those.
  • I don't understand why people are continuing with the bullcrap of saying that they continue playing the game and letting Katey die. If she dies it's GAME OVER! I let her die accidentally once while trying to gamble and get $6 million and it was game over and I had to reload the game to an earlier save so no you can't continue the game with Katey dead. So you can't just run over zombies for 72 hours straight in game as the cases are compulsory and if you ignore them it's game over. Survivor missions you can let them run out (and the survivors die) but you can't with case missions and Katey.
  • What are you talking about crikeyaussie?? When Katey dies you do NOT have to restart when she dies it says "load", "restart game" and "continue game". You should select continue game.
  • Here's what i noticed if u are in a friends game and lets say you had 3000 kills and both of you die and your friend loads it. He loses his kills but you keep them so just get about 10,000 kills then have your friend save then both of you die so you get more kills. the only downside is getting a friend to do that with you but i'll be willing to help 1 person if you want to do this with me then add me on xbox. XzT0XiCslScOpEsXz
  • Also get more time to do it whether you had a bad run or not if confused about my method ask on xbox also mic is broke
  • Where's the SUV key?
  • Just unlocked this achievement at 4:50a.m. on day 4! That's way ahead of the guide. Saved in the middle every 2,000 kills with the SUV. After saving I would load my save to respawn the zombies. I used the full knights armor to protect me from damage.
  • Instead of wasting f*cking 6 hours for this achievement, i used a mod which was alot easier and I recommend it to everyone. I got the achievement in less than 10 seconds. This achievement isn't worth your time, don't try.
  • You Can Get This Straight Up, On My 3rd Try, I Went Straight For The Mag And Did It With 40 Mins To Spare After Being Behind By 4K At One Point, Saved Every 6K. Break-A-Leg, Search "Best Route"
  • did it with about 20 mins to spare ,the stratergy works like a treat , just time consuming though , had to break it down and told myself to kill 10,000 zombies and then turn the xbox off until yhe next day , boy am i glad its out the way
  • Use the SUV, ignore Katy and missions and stick to a set route. If you have to save, use a save point near the SUV spawn site as the one in the middle of the park wastes too much time getting back to the SUV. When the SUV is nearly breaking, make sure you're up near Yucatan so you can pop in, respawn the SUV and get it again quickly.
  • Whould people pity me if i said i only had 1k left of zombie to kill then the military came=? -.- pisses me off!
  • Anyone wanna help me with this? GT: TonedTyphoon
  • I used the SUV method described in the other solutions, doing my reloading in Yucatan with occasional saves in the middle of Fortune Park. At my best I was only doing 1500-2000 kills before refreshing in Yucatan. I was able to up my kill/hour count by around 100 in Day 2 when I started clearing out the area in front of the Arena a little more completely (usually 3 straight line passes in front of the door and 2 laps around the fountain), but was not going for perfect runs (got hung up on walls/benches/carts frequently) and still made it with over 2 hours to spare. Here are the exact times and kill counts for the saves I made so that they can be used to gauge how well you are doing. Hopefully this will help keep people from wasting time on a full run if their kill/hour ratio isn't what i
  • Hopefully this will help keep people from wasting time on a full run if their kill/hour ratio isn't what it should be. Day 1, 05:43 PM: 11160 (1 run after killing guy on bike) Day 2, 08:01 AM: 24190 (could have been higher but my routes weren't that great before this) Day 2, 07:03 PM: 34876 Day 3, 08:02 AM: 47853 Day 3, 07:16 PM: 59108 Day 3, 07:33 AM: 72000 (2 hours 27 minutes to spare)
  • got this with 6 hours to spare :)
  • I just got this as my last achievement, and helped Katey at the same time (so it is possible, for those that want to). At the start I had the SUV and sports car unlocked. First I went for the zombrex in Roy's mart, then the one from slot ranch. I got another from the Yucatan later. If you're giving her the meds try to wait as long as possible the first time- the game jumps to 72hrs left right after. My path was: get in SUV- pull out, go right towards Yucatan- uturn to hit zombies in front of yucatan once- drive towards Juggz tent, do a lap around that- head to Fortune Park, do 1 & 1/2 laps around there...
  • ...head towards the Arena, approaching on the left- go down stairs on the left, hugging the left side but keeping off the planter- go up the arena stairs, head right, hitting zombies by the doors- uturn, head to the other end of the stair platform, hitting zombies away from doors- uturn at the other other end then head back down stairs- go clockwise around the fountain twice, far & close - go up the stairs on the east, away from arena, then uturn in front of theater and repeat pattern above for arena driving - after 2nd arena pass, go back to fortune park, do a lap around the park (if desired) - head back and enter Yucatan - repeat until done. For me, I found hitting zombies in the alley by the shelter entrance and right in front of the hotel to not be worth it.
  • (cont. from above). -The above usually would yield about 1200 kills a run in ~65min game minutes. -The 'Driving' magazine should keep your car from breaking while doing the above, but it might not be necessary (unsure, sorry). -Snipers spawning on the 2nd day won't bother you in the SUV. -The biker can damage you, although usually he hurts himself trying. You ramming him varies in effectiveness. -Zombie crowds can differ slightly between runs, so do what looks good to you. -There are more zombies at night and as time passes. -I finished with 3 or 4 in-game hours to go (so I didn't need a 4th dose of zombrex).
  • I’m going for this achievement right now and with one use of the SUV I got 3,213 kills, someone said you can only get about 2,000 kills with the suv but you can actually get about 3200 each time
