Axes High Achievement

  • Axes High

    20

Kill 30 enemies using Fodder axes.

Fodder axes are weapons some enemies will be carrying. The enemies are called "wasters". They can also be carrying wrenches later on in the game which still count towards the achievement. To kill enemies with dropped weapons, you must use kinesis on the weapon by holding and pressing . Aim it at an enemy and press to throw it. The absolute best method is to shoot off an arm of this enemy, grab the axe/wrench, and shoot it at their legs. This will not work if the enemy transforms. If you kinesis an axe or wrench and throw it, then you will not be able to pick it up again. If an enemy transforms, the weapons will vanish.

    Easy Grinding
The best possible spot to grab this is Chapter 14. You have an optional mission called Disposal Services. Almost the entire mission has these enemies and there aren't a lot that are morphing. You can just keep replaying this area if you want. Even the starting area has around 4 or 5 of the enemies.

  • can't work this one out I've completed the game twice now and still it says I have 030 in the stats I've killed loads with different types of axes the snow ones, the wood like axes and the wrench type axes??
  • I have yet to even see an axe and I'm on chapter 13.
  • I'm only on Chapter 5, though I'd assume this involves using the Fodder's axes as TK weapons to score kills.
  • this counts all necromorph melee weapons throughout the game and it must be the killing blow for it to count I had to hit some enemies 2 or 3 times with that to kill them Hope this helps
  • So annoying, beat whole game and got maybe 1 kill with this crap on Casual, enemies dont die 1 shot from it and axes disappear every time you hurt those monsters that carry them.
  • The only necromorphs I've seen with axes were on tau volantis, but down there they also have picks and wrenches.
  • Here is how i got the achievement by chapter 14 - Play on casual (takes 2 hits to kill if doen right then) shot off the arm with a rifle or smg, then use the axe (or whatever was in hand) to shot off a leg to kill the fodder. if you upgrade tk as soon as possible it only takes the one hit on leg early on it can take 2 on the leg sometimes.
  • I found the best way to get this if you beat the game is to replay chapter 9 on casual until you get your suit and get back outside. Kill the 3 slashers that burst from the ground and continue in the proper direction for the chapter through the building that you needed the suit for. After the long walk up the snowy hill you'll be attacked by 1 waster which should be able to get one of the kills on him. Continue a bit further and there will be another two feigning death which you can also try and get your kills on them. after they are dead collect all the items in the area and save and quit. Upon reloading your save it'll put you right outside with those 3 slashers gunning for you right away. At best you'll only have to do this 10 times if you're a good shot. 15-20 if you're not or if
  • if you're not or if they split into their 3 tentacle and legs form and you missed with an axe like I did quite a bit.
  • Easiest way is to use something like the flamethrower to kill the ones with axes, then stasis one of the live ones and get both axes into them for the kill and then pick up their axes. rinse and repeat. Also, make sure your kinesis is maxed out
  • Get a maxed out plasma cutter with an acid or flame mod (i used the planet cracker plasma cutter, but for those that dont have that, a powerful plasma cutter will do) and max out your kinesis module damage. In chapter 14 optional missions disposal services on casual, theres a bunch in the beginning of the mission. Took two shots to shoot the arm off and one kinesis shot to the leg to kill em. Use stasis to herd them where you want them as they will attack two at a time. It will only take 3-5 tries to get the chievo.
  • This seems bugged, I've been monitoring how many axe kills I have in the start menu. One minute I'll have 23 and 20 mins later I have 15. I know that when you die all you had since the last checkpoint vanish but this has been after multiple checkpoints. Really getting annoying...
  • never restart from checkpoint, save and quit is working for me, this be tricky but it shall be done
  • Something is severely glitches with dead spaces tracking achievements, same with limbs and headshots maxed tk tore off the arm caught it, impaled them, killing them, moot 10/30 went on with classic mode, reloaded old 99.9 complete first play through save file, has completely different numbers for all achievements, it keeps resetting to 0. Absolute nonsense.
  • Easy chapter 14 disposal, easy 6 guaranteed in 3 minutes, SAVE QUIT AND LOAD FROM LAST SAVE, check the progress it will of saved and repeat
  • I used chapter 6. Four Fodder enemies spawn relatively early in the chapter (when you are given the refueling objective and climb the ladder). They have to come at you one at a time because of the catwalk design, which is very helpful. There is a checkpoint and a statis recharge station right where they spawn which makes this a perfect spot. Just kill them, save and quit, load last save, rinse & repeat. Got all 30 in no time.
  • This was the most time consuming cheevo. I found that Chapter 6 was the best location to get this one. It helps if the stasis on your Rig is maxed out and have a couple of extra stasis packs on you.
  • Chapter 4 CO op mission is great to get you have to host
  • Here is an easy way to get the Axes High Achievement. In Chapter 10, in the same place where you get the Drill Master Achievement. You can do this before or after getting the Drill Master Achievement as long as you don’t go up the lift from the Drill Area. This is easy and efficient because of where the Save Point is, enemy type, and for the fact that there is a Work Bench right there as well. The Drill Scenario plays out in three parts. All the enemies in the 1st part are Fodder Axe Guys (The Ones whose weapons you must use for the achievement). The 2nd part is a mixture of Fodder Axe Guys and the Standard Necromorph. The 3rd part as I understand it is only Feeders (No good for the achievement and if you shoot the drill fast enough they never come out, which is what I did, when going f
  • which is what I did, when going for the Drill Master achievement, so I never saw them). Key Points to Remember: Use a weapon that is good for severing limbs, and is strong enough to do enough damage, so that one hit with an axe will kill the Fodder or Necromorph after severing one or two limbs. This will also be determined by how much you’ve upgraded your Kinesis Module. (I had mine upgraded to Level 3, meaning I had two open spots). Lastly, the strength of the Necromorphs will change dependent upon the Difficulty Level you’re playing on. (I did this on Casual). In the end you’ll just have to experiment a little bit to find the right combo. (This, and all the loot you should farm doing this, is why it’s important that there is a Work Bench in the area). OK, so here’s how it works. Yo
  • OK, so here’s how it works. You start the Drill Scenario. I recommend blocking one of the grates by using Stasis on the Drill. (This keeps the enemies at a more easily managed number, but also lessens your kill opportunities, but if you can’t handle large groups of enemies effectively then you won’t get any Axe Kills anyway). So by the numbers: 1) Stasis the Drill 2) Stasis the Axe Fodders 3) Cut off required number of limbs 4) Stasis the Drill again 5) Kinesis Axe (each Fodder has 2 Axes) 6) Kill Fodder or Necromorph 7) Run to Stasis Refill 8) Stasis Drill Again 9) Refill Stasis 10) Go Back to #2 and repeat until the enemies are gone and the 1st Part ends 11) When 1st Part ends run around and collect all the items the Necros dropped 12) Save and Quit 13) Continue from Last
  • 13) Continue from Last Save Point 14) Rinse and Repeat until you hear that beautiful Achievement Sound Final Notes: You can go on to the 2nd Part before you Save and Quit. I don’t recommend it. Due to the variety of enemies and their different strengths, plus the time it takes for the Drill to come back down, I find it is less effective than just replaying the 1st Part again. You should easily average 3 or more Axe Kills per 1st Part (I rarely got more than 1 or 2 on the 2nd Part). Remember to get your loot before you Save and Quit. Remember to stop at the Work Bench in between runs to manage your inventory and to tweak your weapons if need be. If your Stasis Module isn’t upgraded, to the point where you can shoot four shots without a recharge, then make sure you have a few Stasis Pack
  • then make sure you have a few Stasis Packs. If you have 0 Axe Kills before starting this it’ll probably take you about 8 runs and roughly an hour. Lastly, Good Luck to all of you. This is the first one of these I wrote, so feel free to provide feedback if you would like.
  • @DJent777 @sirchambers69 Thank you for the advice, Chapter 14: Disposal Services was a perfect area to get this. Stasis enemy, slice arm off, pick up ax, shoot ax at leg- That's what worked for me. If done right you can get 4-5 each time. Save and quit, then continue from last save. Don't restart from checkpoint. It can be frustrating because sometimes the axes disappear but stick with it, you'll get the cheevo soon enough.
  • this cheevo is pure rubbish everytime i see one of these fodder axe guys whether i kill them, shoot their limbs off they NEVER drop their bloody axes how the hell are we suposed to do this in one play through ive had one fodder axe kill and thats when i found one on the floor this cheevo isnt worth the time for the G....
  • For your consideration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9__tsvU9G8I
  • Chapter 6 just after you refuel the ship is by far the easiest place to get this done. 4 spawn right after pull the fueling tube to the ship. They spawn 2 at a time, but come at you one at a time pretty much. If you have a maxed out plasma cutter, just shot off and arm then take the axe and shot out a leg.
  • Forgot to add that I had it done within 15-20 minutes doing it in Chapter 6. That is starting with 0.
  • Definitely proving to be the most annoying achievement in the game thus far. Have 41 of 58, the majority from the single player, but this one seems to be extremely difficult.
  • One of the worst cheevos going. Keep restarting chapter 6 where you fuel the shuttle
  • Pain in the ass Cheevo, still struggling...
  • As #17 and #28 said, just after you refuel the ship in chapter six is a good place to do it. As soon as they appear just run into the elevator you came with. They don't follow you in there, instead they crawl back into the walls. Make a step out of the elevator, wait for the first one to reappear and shoot off one arm. Step back into the elevator, pick up the axe, step forward again and throw it at its second arm when it reappears again. Do it with all four enemies, save & exit and then load from checkpoint to go for another four kills. I don't think there's an easier way to get it.
  • If anyone hasn't realized, killing the Fodders with a flamethrower ensures the axes NEVER disappear, and even better you don't have to aim nearly as accurately. USE A FLAMETHROWER
  • Pissin me off...
  • The progress for this achievement continually resets for me. In my co-op run I probably got about 8 or so, but it kept resetting. I loaded up chatper 14 solo, got 2 int he opening area. Reloaded, still had 2, did what is necessary to get 2 more but they didn't count for some reason. Reloaded again, back to 0.
  • On top of that, even on casual I shoot an arm off and then throw the axe at it and it doesn't die. I have to shoot it a little bit more, but not enough to kill it. Then find the axe while getting attacked by another one, then try to hit the first one with it and hope it dies. Ridiculous.
  • But if I cut off both limbs... it dies. Terrible achievement. It shouldn't be 20, it should be to kill one with his own axe.
  • I had the same problem as #36, although it seems he had it worse. I went into the mission on 14 thinking I'd get a lot. I started with 5 and got at least 16 at one point, although by the time the mission was over I had 7. I think they have trouble registering sometimes as well. Seems like they should've done 'kill 30 with their own blade or weapon' so we don't have to keep an eye out for those particular guys.
