Introduction:
Fifteen years have passed since the assassination of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin and conspiracies of a coup are on the rise in Dunwall. When Delilah Copperspoon, a long-forgotten, mystic figure, appears at Jessamine's ceremonial anniversary, the action immediately unfolds; it is here, inside the throne room of Dunwall Tower, where you are given a unique choice to play the game as Empress Emily Kaldwin, or the Royal Protector Corvo Attano. Dishonored 2 is a single-player stealth-action title that boasts a twelve to fourteen hour narrative (depending on playstyle) that spans nine missions. The game also offers fifty achievements that cover varying degrees of lethality-based tasks, smaller mission-specific feats, and the obtainment of four different collectible sets. There are eight story-related achievements, and then one game-completion achievement based on the character you choose during the opening of the first mission. Thereon, there are twelve missable achievements, while the rest of the tasks can mopped up via Mission Select if you miss them your first or second time around. Two full playthroughs of differing playstyles and thirty-five or more hours will see everything Dishonored 2 has to offer complete.

Playthrough #1 - Emily, Low Chaos (No Powers + No Kills + No Alerts):
The first playthrough of the game should aim to stack all of the non-lethal achievements, thus making it a longer, more involved experience. It may sound difficult, but it's very rewarding and manageable, and it's only logical they all be done at once. So, during the opening of the game, choose to play as Emily Kaldwin. There are eight story-related achievements you will unlock naturally as you progress through the narrative, and a ninth, "The Empress," for completing the game as Emily. After completing the first mission of the game and awaking aboard the Dreadful Wale, make a manual save and refer below to the "Note of Importance" section of the roadmap; after reverting back to your save file, continue on until you meet The Outsider and choose to refuse his mark/gift. Completing the game with no supernatural powers will prove challenging, but it will yield "Flesh and Steel" in the long run. Playing stealthily, you will want to remain completely undetected from mission to mission and refrain from killing anyone including key targets. There is no chapter select/replay feature, so save often in case you mess up! Completing a single mission without getting spotted and without any kills yields "Ghostly" and "Alternative Approach" respectively, while completing the entire game in this fashion unlocks "Shadow" and "Clean Hands." By game's end, you will also unlock "In Good Conscience," which is earned for completing the game in Low Chaos.

While this playthrough will not involve itself too much with mission-specific tasks that conflict with a non-lethal playstyle, there are still a few additional achievements worth hunting down. These are "Freedom of Speech" in Mission 1, "Counter-serum" in Mission 3, "Howlers 'til the End" and "Eureka" in Mission 6, "Under the Table" and "Flooded Basement" and "Dilapidation" in Mission 7, "Gazebo" in Mission 9, and "Familiarity Breeds Contempt" in Mission 1 and Mission 9. In addition to this batch of achievements, there are three neutral miscellaneous tasks worth going for; one task is for robbing a Black Market shop, which unlocks "Black Market Burglar;" the second task requires you to find all three musical duos around the city for "Songs of Serkanos;" the third, "Years Ago, Another Time," can be obtained by speaking with Meagan Foster aboard the Dreadful Wale before returning to Dunwall for Mission 9.

Note of Importance for Playthrough #1:
It's important to note why this roadmap recommends "Flesh and Steel" with Emily as opposed to Corvo. Firstly, each character has a power-related achievement; Corvo has "Circle of Life" and Emily has "The Lovers." The earliest you can obtain Corvo's achievement is on Mission 5 and you will need thirteen Runes to unlock the necessary skill upgrades. On the other hand, Emily's can be done on the first group of enemies on Mission 2 and only requires four Runes. This means that when you awake aboard the Dreadful Wale after Mission 1, make a manual save. Now carry on through the Void and accept The Outsider's mark. Continue onward to Mission 2, work on "The Lovers," and then reload your save so you can carry on with the playthrough, rejecting The Outsider's mark for "Flesh and Steel." If a "No Powers" run was done with Corvo instead, you would need to complete half of a third playthrough, which is wasted time and effort.

Playthrough #2 - Corvo, High Chaos (Miscellaneous Mop Up + Collectibles):
With a bulk of the game's stealth-related achievements done, this second playthrough can focus on a lethal approach while playing as Corvo. With that said, choose to play as Corvo during the opening of the game. So long as you are completing your mission objectives lethally and receiving High Chaos ratings for each mission, you will unlock "Empire in Chaos" upon finishing the narrative. Naturally, you will also earn "The Royal Protector" for completing the game as Corvo Attano. There a number of mission-specific achievements to mop-up on this playthrough, too. These are "Morbid Theft" and "Stay of Execution" in Mission 2, "Fearless Fall" in Mission 3, "Silence" and "Clockwork Collector" in Mission 4, "Place of Three Deaths" in Mission 4 and Mission 6, "Oracular Echoes" in Mission 5, and "Faithful to the Abbey" in Mission 6.

At this point, all that remains are nine miscellaneous tasks and the four collectible-based achievements. For the former, you will need to craft ten Bonecharms for "Occult Carver," kill six enemies in under a second and a half for "Heartbeat Ripper," kill an enemy with their own bullet for "Fatal Redirection," and use a single cast of Possession to chain between five different hosts for "Circle of Life." There are also achievements for using the Heart to listen to forty people's secrets, destroying three Clockwork Soldiers and collecting their plates, eliminating twenty unaware enemies, performing ten Drop Assassinations, and obtaining a headshot while sliding. As far as the collectibles go, all four sets are highly missable. This includes collecting all ten souvenir items for "Souvenir," obtaining at least 18,000 coin over the course of your playthrough for "Well Funded," finding all twenty-seven paintings for "Art Collector," and grabbing every journal and audiograph during each visit back to the Dreadful Wale for "Royal Spymaster."

Conclusion:
Dishonored 2 excels in many departments, chiefly its world design, gameplay mechanics, and creative achievement list. It's a game that is sure to suck you in for hours, begging you to explore its atmospheric locales around Karnaca, the jewel city of the south. With two playable protagonists, you will want to undergo a minimum of two playthroughs in order to experience the different endings depending on chaos level and unlock all fifty achievements in the game. Despite a slightly weak narrative compared to its predecessor, Dishonored 2 is one title worth your attention this year.

There are 50 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Side with the Howlers in the Dust District

This achievement can be earned during Mission 6, The Dust District, but please take note it directly conflicts with "Faithful to the Abbey."

Please refer below to "Faithful to the Abbey" for more information.

  • Side with the Overseers in the Dust District

This achievement can be earned during Mission 6, The Dust District, but please take note it directly conflicts with "Howlers 'til the End."

In Mission 6, The Dust District, your primary objective is to reach Aramis' Manor; however, a logic riddle blocks the door leading to the man's home. This objective can be completed in one of three ways:

    1. Crack the Jindosh lock on your own
    2. Side with the Howlers (their leader, Paolo, will give you the solution to the riddle)
    3. Side with the Overseers (their leader, Vice Overseer Byrne, will give you the solution to the riddle)

For these two achievements, you must pick and choose a faction to work with. For "Howlers 'til the End," you'll want to make your way through the Overseer's territory, eliminate the Vice Overseer any way you see fit, and deliver his body to the Howlers in their saloon hideout. On the other hand, "Faithful to the Abbey" is earned by doing the complete opposite: infiltrating the Howler's territory, eliminating their leader, Paolo, and bringing his body to the Overseer's guard post on the other side of the Dust District.

NOTE: These two achievements are best done in separate playthroughs, with "Howlers 'til the End" during a non-lethal Low Chaos playthrough, and "Faithful to the Abbey" on a lethal High Chaos playthrough. This is due to the reason that Paolo must be killed three times for the "Place of Three Deaths" achievement, so it only makes sense to side with the Overseers during the lethal run.

  • Eureka

    15

Crack the Jindosh Lock without finding the solution elsewhere

This achievement can be earned during Mission 6, The Dust District.

During Mission 6, The Dust District, your main objective will require you to crack the Jindosh lock that is blocking your advance to Aramis Stilton's manor; however, given the intense nature of the logic riddle that bars the door, you are tasked with obtaining the solution from the Howlers or the Overseers. While it may seem logical to drop a manual save, obtain the solution from either faction, and then reload the save to input the solution and unlock the door, that is not needed at all.

Thanks to Decaying Dead, you can follow the fool-proof solution below in order to crack the lock without the use of save manipulation. Each line item pair correlates to a single column of solutions when looking at the lock on the door. Simply plug in your riddle's "person" or "item" in the solution's bolded spot, and you should have no issues.

    "__person__was at the far left."
"someone else carried a valuable __item__ and when she saw it..."

    "__person__raised he __drink__in toast"
"when one of the guests bragged about her__item__..."

"They all wore difference colors an __person__ wore a jaunty__color__..."
"...at which the lady from __place__scoffed, saying it was no match for her__item__"

"Then__person__captivated them all with a story..."
    *last remaining item*

    "so__person__showed off a prized__item__"

Once the riddle has been solved, provided you solved it using the method above or via save manipulation (though, really, the above method is much faster), the achievement will unlock.

  • Obtain Stilton’s Master Key from under the table, with the guards there conscious & unalerted

This achievement can be earned during Mission 7, A Crack in the Slab.

After obtaining the Timepiece from The Outsider, the game will inform you how it can be used: while equipped, tap to alternate between timelines (past/present), and to see a visible indication of what is happening in the other timeline. With this in mind, equip the ancient relic and "time travel" out of the room until you are in the hallway on the first floor. Your destination is on the opposite side the hallway.

Travel back to the present and when you reach the blocked door at the end of the hallway, time travel to the past to get through the blocked door and into the dining room, then return to the present immediately. Move through the room, crawl underneath the dining table, and time travel to the past once more. The room will be filled with guards; ignore the guards, loot the key that is on the chair, and the achievement will unlock.

  • Drain the water to recover a Rune

This achievement can be earned during Mission 7, A Crack in the Slab.

After obtaining the Timepiece from The Outsider, leave the room via time travel, similar to how you would for the "Under the Table" achievement, and remain in the past (with the manor fully restored). Take the first door on your right in the hallway and you will find yourself in a kitchen. Time travel to the present, loot the cabinet directly in front of you for a key, then return to the past. Move towards the back of the kitchen and down the small corridor. Use the key to open the locked door, time travel to the present, turn left, and hop out of the broken window (beware of the hound in this courtyard).

Pass through the sealed doors on the left-hand side of the courtyard and you will emerge into a large, debris-filled chamber. Hug the left wall and make your way downstairs into the basement. Time travel back to the past and you will notice two guards in the room ahead. Take both of them out however you'd like, grab the red crank wheel in the display case to the left of where they were, and then throw that wheel into the hole in the wall (the same hole one of the guards was looking through).

You can now switch back to the present, jump through the hole, grab the wheel and attached it to the pipe on the left-hand side of the flooded room, and crank it to drain the water. Once the room has been drained, turn around and you will find a Rune atop a wooden crate. The achievement will unlock after picking up the Rune.

  • Find the hidden balcony passageway

This achievement can be earned during Mission 7, A Crack in the Slab.

After obtaining the Timepiece from The Outsider, leave the room via time travel, similar to how you would for the "Under the Table" achievement, and remain in the past (with the manor fully restored). Follow the same path through the corridor and through the kitchen and out into the courtyard as you did for the "Flooded Basement" achievement. Take care of the hound here and move yourself into the alcove on either side of the yard.

Time travel back to the past; there will be two guards present in the area: one in the courtyard itself and another on the balcony. After they have finished their dialogue, eliminate the lone guard and turn your attention to the now-empty balcony. Use your crossbow to shoot the two support beams of the balcony. After doing this, time travel back to the present and you will notice the balcony has collapsed. Climb the rubble in order to reach the second-story floor and the achievement will unlock mid-climb.

  • Gazebo

    15

Pay tribute to Jessamine one last time

This achievement can be earned during Mission 9, Death to the Empress.

A short way into this mission, you will eventually reach the outer courtyard of Dunwall Tower, which is infested with several Witches and Gravehounds. In the middle of the courtyard you should be able to easily spot a large burning pile of debris, and beyond that, the gazebo where Empress Jessamine Kaldwin died in the first game. Approach the gazebo at your own pace, interact with the monument on the ground, and the achievement will unlock shortly afterwards.

  • Rob Galvani multiple times

This achievement is missable. It is earned over the course of a single playthrough, particularly in Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall, and Mission 9, Death to the Empress.

The first opportunity you will have to rob Galvani is during Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall. After reaching the streets of Dunwall, enter the first large house on the left-hand side of the street and make your way into the one open room. You will want to grab the painting on the wall in order to reveal a safe combination of "451." Now locate the safe on the opposite side of the room. Input the combination you have just found and loot the contents within the safe.

The second opportunity you will have to rob Galvani is during Mission 9, Death to the Empress. As you make your way through the streets back towards Dunwall Tower, make a pitstop at Galvani's house and be wary of the booby trap in the main hallway. Using the same combination from earlier in your playthrough (451), crack the man's safe again and loot its contents. The achievement will unlock once you have picked up the journal and coins inside the safe.

  • Craft 10 Bonecharms

This achievement is missable. If you neglect collecting enough Bonecharms over the course of your playthrough, you will not be able to craft the required amount.

Before you can even consider working on this achievement, you must first unlock the "Bonecharm Crafting" skill in the "Powers" tab of the character menu. This skill will set you back one Rune. Now open the "Bonecharms" tab of the character menu and you can use talents (obtained by dismantling Bonecharms) and raw whalebone (looted during missions) to craft these occult relics. There are varying levels of Bonecharms to craft, but you'll want to stick to the most basic of the three.

Please take note that this achievement is cumulative; if you want to earn this quickly, you can create a manual save, sacrifice all of your existing Bonecharms and Runes (for crafting materials), craft two or three Bonecharms, reload your save, and repeat the process until ten have been created.

NOTE: This achievement cannot be obtained on a "No Powers" playthrough since the "Powers" tab in the character menu will be unavailable, therefore disallowing you to choose the Bonecharm Crafting skill.

  • Eliminate 6 enemies in less than 1.5 seconds

This achievement can be earned at any time during your playthrough and can be done wither either Corvo or Emily. Furthermore, it does not require the use of any powers.

During Mission 2, Edge of the World, you will eventually reach Addermire Station. Inside the building, on the ground floor, behind the registration desk, is an armory that houses two guards and plenty of grenades. For the purposes of this achievement, you will deliberately want to get spotted while entering the transit station, run to the armory, and pick up a grenade from one of the open lockers (assuming you do not already have one).

By this point, the entire enemy patrol unit in this area will have followed you inside the armory. Quickly turn around to face them, and should you be able to see six visible bodies inside the room, quickly equip and grenade and toss it on the ground, making sure to parry the guards' oncoming attacks. The grenade's blast radius is quite large, so once it goes off, it will kill everyone in the room and the achievement should unlock provided six enemies were present.

Please refer to the video below for a visual representation on how this can be done.

  • Kill an enemy with their own bullet

This achievement can be earned at any time during your playthrough and can be done wither either Corvo or Emily.

Before attempting this achievement you will want to have at least three Runes available. With the required Runes on hand, open the character menu by pressing and scroll over the the "Powers" tab. Now scroll down to the bottom block of skills and unlock the "Reflexes" skill (1 Rune), followed by the "Superior Deflection" skill (2 Runes). These skills will deflect any projectile to the closest enemy while you are parrying in combat.

All that's left to do is to find an enemy guard who wields a pistol. Once you've tracked one down, engage in open combat, distance yourself quite a bit so that they are forced to use their firearm, and tap as they shoot their pistol to block and deflect the bullet. Do this twice (or thrice depending on how much health they have) and it will kill the enemy, thus unlocking the achievement.

NOTE: This achievement cannot be obtained on a "No Powers" playthrough since the "Powers" tab in the character menu will be unavailable, therefore disallowing you to choose the skills necessary for proper setup.

  • Cast Possession once, chaining between human, hound, rat, fish, and bloodfly

The earliest you can work on this achievement is during Mission 5, The Royal Conservatory. Take note that this can only be done with Corvo, as Emily does not have the Possession ability. In addition, you must have at least thirteen Runes on hand by the time you reach Mission 5.

Once you reach the outer streets and courtyard of the Royal Conservatory, go ahead and open the character menu and scroll over to the "Powers" tab. Using thirteen Runes, unlock all four Possession skills and then close out of the menu. Your next task will be to pass the Wall of Light at the Conservatory's front entrance and locate the staircase on the far right that leads to the basement and lower yard. In the basement area, you should spot a door that, if you peek through the keyhole, leads to a storage room with a gravehound. To the left of this door is a lower platform infested with rats and a couple bloodflies. There's also a small sewer entrance to the far left that leads to a fountain in the yard where some fish can be found in addition to a single patrolling guard.

After spotting all the hosts you need, create a manual save (for backup in case you mess up), open the door to the storage room, possess the hound using , and then quickly move to the lower platform inside the basement. Now tap to transfer over to a rat and then a bloodfly. From here, fly out of the drainage pipe, transfer over to the human guard, then finish off the cycle by approaching the fountain and possessing a fish. The achievement will unlock after a few seconds of possessing the fish.

Please refer to the video below for a visual guide on how this is done.

NOTE: Feel free to drop a manual backup save before unlocking the necessary skills for this achievement in the event you do not wish to carry on with these skills during your playthrough.

NOTE #2: As of the December 2016 update, the method in the video below no longer works. Possessing a grave hound immediately kills you; you will need to possess the hound last. I suggest going in the following order: human, fish, bloodfly, rat, hound.

  • Finish an entire mission without being spotted

Please refer below to "Shadow" for more information.

  • Finish an entire mission with no casualties

Please refer below to "Clean Hands" for more information.

  • Rob a black market shop

The earliest and easiest opportunity to obtain it is in the very beginning of Mission 2, Edge of the World.

At the start of the aforementioned mission, you will be dropped off at the docks of Karnaca with an objective waypoint on your HUD that leads to the Black Market in town. Follow this objective marker through the apartment, but when you reach the second floor, rather than continuing on towards the shop, jump out the open window and into the alley where Mindy Blanchard is located. Take a right in this alley, open the locked gate, and move forward until you reach a patio with a few civilians. The building on the left-hand side of the patio has an open window with a dead body hanging out of it.

Climb into this building and make your way to the topmost floor. You will eventually reach a room infested with bloodflies and a nest keeper. Eliminate the crazed man, destroy the glass display case in his bedroom, and loot the key within. Now return to the alley where you found Mindy Blanchard; there is a door alongside the building here that can be opened with the key you retrieved. This is the backdoor to the Black Market shop. Cross through the threshold and you are now free to loot as much as you want in the shop. The achievement will unlock after looting any one item.

  • Collect all the decorative objects for the Dreadful Wale

This achievement is highly missable as it involves collecting unmarked souvenir items from each of the nine missions in the game. Every mission, with the exception of Mission 6, The Dust District, has one item to collect; Mission 6 has two items. Most of these souvenirs are physical objects you must pick up, while there are some that are rewarded upon killing a certain enemy or dealing with a target in a specific manner.

After collecting a souvenir item and completing that particular mission, the item will be placed in the display cabinet above your desk (inside your room) aboard the Dreadful Wale. Collectible progress is only saved when you trigger an auto-save or make a manual save; if you die without saving, you will have to recollect the item. With all of this in mind, refer to the checklist and video guide below for aid in finding all ten souvenirs.

    • Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunall
      • Item: Samuel's Beechwood Carving
        • Inside Emily's safe room, this item can be found in the first alcove on a shelf above her bed.
    • Mission 2, Edge of the World
      • Item: Elite Helmet
        • Elite guards are those that wear red outfits. Simply eliminate a helmeted Elite guard at any time during this mission and the item will automatically be added to your collection post-mission.
    • Mission 3, The Good Doctor
      • Item: Syringe
        • Eliminate Dr. Hypatia non-lethally (refer to "Counter-serum") and this item will automatically be added to your collection.
    • Mission 4, The Clockwork Mansion
      • Item: Clockwork Head
        • During this mission, you will encounter Clockwork Soldiers for the first time. To retrieve this souvenir, shoot off a Soldier's head with a crossbow bolt and then proceed to kill it. Upon its death, this item will automatically be added to your collection.
    • Mission 5, The Royal Conservatory
      • Item: Broken Whalebone Sword
        • After making your way into the Conservatory, head towards the large, three-story atrium room. On the topmost floor, above Ashmore's office, right outside her laboratory where you can find the Oracular lens, you will find a display case. Smash the case and pick up the sword.
    • Mission 6, The Dust District
      • Item: Blade Verbana
        • In the Overseer's territory, when facing their hideout/building, there is a road to the left that leads to a dead end. Move along this road and towards the end there will be an illuminated plaque on the wall indicating Corvo's old home. Head into the narrow alley on the side of this building, climb the archway and the vent, smash through the boarded window, move into the furthest room, and then interact with the discolored bricks on the wall to reveal a hidden stash. Here, you will find the item primed for looting.
    • Mission 6, The Dust District
      • Item: Skiff Approaching Dockyard
        • Approach the Howler's territory and rather than making the left towards the saloon where Paolo is located, continue down the street and through the half-closed gates. Travel along this street and then hitch right into a darkened alleyway. You will receive a notification that you are now in neutral territory. On your left, break into the shop by smashing the windows with your sword and inside the shop, on the right-hand wall, you will find the framed photo, Skiff Approaching Dockyard.
    • Mission 7, A Crack in the Slab
      • Item: Calendar from 1849
        • After retrieving the Timepiece, turn around and move towards the doors that lead to the hallway. Before leaving the room, time travel to the past, look on the table to the right of the door, and you will find a framed calendar.
    • Mission 8, The Grand Palace
      • Item: Broken Gazelle Ornamen
        • After collecting Delilah's spirit in the Duke's vault, move around the central structure to find a portrait and table along the back wall. Pick up the gazelle head on the table. One more item to go!
    • Mission 9, Death to the Empress
      • Item: Mrs. Pilsen Doll
        • Upon reaching the throne room, ignore Delilah and return to Emily's safe room. In the first alcove (where the first souvenir item was found) you will find a small doll lodged within the toilet.

The achievement will finally unlock after collecting the tenth and final souvenir item in the game. Please refer below to PowerPyx's detailed video guide if a visual aid is preferred.

  • Find 60% of available loot

This achievement is highly missable! It's strongly recommended to work on this during a lethal, powered High Chaos playthrough so that you have access to Blink/Dark Vision and do not have to worry about the risk of being caught when thoroughly searching every nook and cranny of a mission.

Right off the bat, it's worth noting that all loot sources (minus food) net coin. This includes paintings, ornamental items (bath salts, processed whale oil, tyvian ore, etc.) pick pocketing guards, silver and gold ingots, and coins themselves. It's also worth noting how many coins there are for mission:

    • Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall - 1490 coins
    • Mission 2, Edge of the World - 3854 coins
    • Mission 3, The Good Doctor - 2206 coins
    • Mission 4, The Clockwork Mansion - 4802 coins
    • Mission 5, The Royal Conservatory - 3868 coins
    • Mission 6, The Dust District - 3973 coins
    • Mission 7, A crack in the slab - 3334 coins
    • Mission 8, The Grand palace - 4430 coins
    • Mission 9, Death To The Empress - 2562 coins

This translates to there being a total of 29,799 coins in the game. For the purposes of this achievement, you must find/earn at least 18,000 coins before the end of your playthrough. During the post-mission stat board you will be shown how many coins you collected versus how many were in the mission. As a general rule of thumb, you should try to earn at least 60% of the total coin in every mission. Additionally, the Dark Vision ability, specifically its upgrade, Greater Dark Vision, will allow you to see objects through walls; Greater Dark Vision will prove to be incredibly useful when scavenging for loot sources and coin.

You can track your total amount of coin earned by entering the "Playthrough" tab under the "Stats" option in the pause menu, and then referring to the "Economy" stat. Once you have amassed at least 18,000 coin in a single playthrough, this achievement will unlock.

  • Using the Heart, listen to the secrets of 40 different people

This achievement can be earned at any time during the course of your playthrough.

You will first obtain the Heart during the Void sequence at the start of Mission 2, Edge of the World. In order to listen to the secrets of an individual, all you need to do is equip the Heart and press when aiming the reticle at an NPC. While the achievement description indicates you must do this on forty different people, progress carries over upon death. This means you can make a manual save, listen to the secrets of five NPCs, get yourself deliberately killed, and then repeat this process on the same five individuals eight more times.

If you desire to get this naturally, there are hundreds on NPCs throughout the game's nine missions that you can eavesdrop on. Regardless of how you do it, the achievement will unlock after the fortieth secret has been told.

  • Acquire all collectible paintings

This achievement is highly missable! It's strongly recommended to work on this during a lethal, powered High Chaos playthrough so that you have access to Blink/Far Reach and do not have to worry about the risk of being caught when thoroughly searching every nook and cranny of a mission for collectibles.

In total, there are twenty-seven paintings scattered throughout the nine missions in the game. Due to the fact that there is no chapter select or chapter replay, every painting is considered missable. Keep in mind that collectible progress is only saved when you trigger an auto-save or make a manual save; if you die without saving, you will have to recollect the painting.

A text-based solution for twenty-seven collectibles would be complicated, so please refer to the detailed video guide below, courtesy of PowerPyx.

NOTE: It's worth knowing that each painting yields 200 coin once collected. This will net 5,400 coin, which will help make a significant dent in the "Well Funded" achievement. In fact, all four collectible-based achievements in the game, that is "Souvenir," "Well Funded," "Art Collector," and "Royal Spymaster," should be stacked on the same playthrough.

  • Obtain numbered plates for 3 Clockwork Soldiers

It is highly recommended to get this done in Mission 4, The Clockwork Mansion. Moreover, this achievement should be paired with a lethal High Chaos playthrough.

Once you arrive at the Clockwork Mansion, head into the parlor to the right of the foyer and pull the lever on the right-hand side of the room. This will spawn in a single Clockwork Solider and reconfigure the layout of the room, granting access to the rest of the mansion.

From here you will want to Blink/Far Reach onto balcony above the Soldier and wait until the machine is within Drop Assassination range. Drop onto the Solider, tap to remove its head, then set yourself back into position. Attack the Solider one more time and when it's dismembered and dead, you can find a plaque among the debris. Do this twice more over the course of this mission and the achievement will unlock after picking up the third plaque.

NOTE: There are several other ways to eliminate Clockwork Soldiers and obtain their plaques: you can instantly kill them with a stun mine; you can shoot their heads off with a crossbow, then perform a drop assassination; you can attack their glowing limbs with your sword until they overheat and explode.

  • Rogue

    10

    Eliminate 20 unaware enemies

This achievement can be earned at any time during your playthrough, specifically on the lethal High Chaos run.

Despite the achievement description not specifying whether "eliminated" means knocked out or killed, progress towards this achievement can only be made by killing () unaware enemies. This will more than likely come naturally over the course of a playthrough; stalk from the shadows and distract enemies if necessary with crossbow bolts or glass bottles. Just remember: despite playing lethally, do not always engage the enemy head-on in open combat, otherwise they will be aware of your presence. The achievement will unlock once you have killed a total of twenty unaware enemies.

  • Eliminate 10 enemies with Drop Assassination

This achievement can be earned at any time during your playthrough, specifically on the lethal High Chaos run.

You will be introduced to Drop Assassinations fairly early on in the game during Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall. While perched on a ledge on any kind (rooftop, railing, etc.), you can eliminate enemies who are below you by jumping off the ledge and falling on top of them. Right before you make contact with the enemy, a quick prompt will flash on the screen: to knock out or to kill.

There are several opportunities across all nine missions in the game to get this done, but do keep in mind that you must kill the enemies rather than knocking them out. The achievement will unlock once you have performed ten successful Drop Assassinations.

  • Shadow

    50

Finish the game without being spotted

This achievement is missable and will naturally be paired with a Low Chaos playthrough.

Completing an entire playthrough without ever being spotted is one of the harder achievements in the game. The enemy AI in the game is very perceptive even on the lower difficulties. As mentioned in the roadmap, though, this is best stacked during a playthrough where you're going for the "Clean Hands" achievement. This works best since you will be bypassing enemy encounters stealthily, thereby reducing the chances of ever being seen. If you do happen to get spotted, you can reload your latest save and carry on.

When an enemy is suspicious of your presence or by a noise you may have caused, there will be a visible white lightening bolt icon above their head. This is the alertness meter and all enemy types have it - Howlers, Grand Guard, Overseers, Witches, Clockwork Soldiers, and hounds. Please note that it's entirely fine if the lightening bolt turns white and even a little red, causing enemies to enter a "search" state. For the purposes of this achievement, you cannot allow that icon to turn fully red. If you do get spotted during your playthrough, the "Tutorial: Combat" prompt will appear on the left-hand side of the screen.

It would make sense then that you should never see this prompt appear, and in the chance that it does, you will have to reload your latest save file. Overall, pay close attention to the post-mission stat board where it will display three stats for lethality and stealth. For this achievement, you will want to make sure the "Ghostly - Never Detected" stat is checked off. It's okay if bodies have been found; so long as that stat is checked off at the end of all nine missions, you will unlock this achievement when the final cutscene begins to play.

  • Complete the game without supernatural powers

This achievement is missable should you choose to accept The Outsider's gift/mark during the dream sequence before Mission 2, Edge of the World.

It's without a doubt that this is the hardest achievement in the game given players cannot rely on the advantageous traversal power of Blink/Far Reach to sneak around the missions more stealthily. Truthfully, this is the only power that is a shame to not have. While Dark Vision is helpful for situational awareness, Mesmerize and Doppelgänger for distractions, and Possession or Domino for ease of bypassing enemy-occupied territory, there are plenty of base solutions that can replace these powers. All you'll really need during a "No Powers" playthrough is the crossbow, sleeping bolts, regular bolts, glass bottles, and your hands.

As the roadmap suggests, this "No Powers" run should also focus on stacking "Ghost" and "Clean Hands." These two achievements essentially encourage avoiding enemy contact unless absolutely necessary, meaning players won't really need powers to deal with hostiles. There are always multiple paths that lead to an objective; explore, move slowly, and keep your eyes peeled. More often than not, you will be able to reach your objective undetected and unscathed in the same manner you would have had you possessed The Outsider's gift.

Additionally, the non-lethal methods in taking down mission targets are rather simplified and never truly benefit from having powers, again proving that supernatural gift is more of a bonus than a necessity. As previously mentioned, sleeping darts will be your go-to for dealing with enemies at a distance, while glass bottles and regular crossbow bolts act as distractions to lure enemies away from their posts. It'll take a great amount patience and exploration to get through each mission without powers, especially if you're stacking this with no detections and no kills, but by the time you've returned to the throne room in Dunwall Tower, you will find supernatural powers were never really necessary to complete your objectives.

Naturally, please refer to both "Ghost" and "Clean Hands" for additional tips where needed. After dealing with Delilah at the end of Mission 9, Death to the Empress, and saving Corvo/Emily, this achievement will unlock.

  • Finish the game with Corvo Attano

Please refer to "The Empress" for more information.

  • Finish the game with Emily Kaldwin

This achievement, as well as "The Royal Protector," is story-related and cannot be missed provided you choose to play as Emily during Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall.

In regards to gameplay, Corvo and Emily differ slightly in the powers they are given by The Outsider (provided you accept his gift/mark during the second mission of the game). Other than their different supernatural powers, mechanically, they play similarly. It's worth noting that character interactions will differ over the course of your playthrough depending on who you choose, but it does not impact the overarching narrative in any significant way.

All in all, choosing Corvo and completing the game as the masked assassin will yield "The Royal Protector," while completing the game as Emily will unlock "The Empress."

  • Complete the game in low chaos

Please refer to "Empire in Chaos" for more information.

  • Complete the game in high chaos

Similar to the first installment of the series, chaos level is determined by the lethality of how you approach your objectives in each and every mission.

In short, if you are playing the game non-lethally, eliminating your targets by alternative means and generally staying undetected from enemies, you will score a Low Chaos rating at the end of the mission. On the other hand, should you decide to play as the raged assassin and kill your enemies and targets and even civilians, you will receive a High Chaos rating at the end of a mission. The post-mission stat board at the end of every mission will display your current chaos level.

It's without a needed explanation that these two achievements require two separate playthroughs. As the roadmap suggests then, "In Good Conscience" is best paired with "Ghost" and "Clean Hands" and even "Flesh and Steel. The chaos-related achievements will unlock at the end of Mission 9, Death to the Empress, once the final cutscene (which alters depending on your chaos level) begins to play.

  • Link 2 characters with Domino just before one kills the other

The earliest you can work on this achievement is during Mission 2, Edge of the World. Take note that this can only be done with Emily, as Corvo does not have the Domino ability.

Upon reaching the Karnaca docks, you will be tasked with getting to Addemire Station. Before you set out, equip the Heart and make your way to the nearby Rune on the docks, located inside a dead whale's mouth. Collect the Rune and now travel to the Black Market down the road, where you can purchase a second Rune for a small sum of money.

At this time, open the character menu by pressing and scroll over to the "Powers" tab. Using your four Runes, unlock the first Domino skill and then close out of the menu. Your next task will be to continue moving though the streets of the city towards Addemire Station. Eventually you will reach a Wall of Light. There are two guards here, one of which is pushing a civilian towards the electric barrier. Quickly equip Domino, target your reticle at the left-most guard, tap to cast the ability, and then link him to the guard on his right.

After the civilian has been vaporized, rush up to the guard on the right, hold to grab him, and as the other guard becomes alerted and swings his sword to attack you, he will kill his ally and as a result kill himself, thus unlocking the achievement.

  • Find 3 musical duos across Karnaca, and listen to their songs

This achievement is missable. It is earned over the course of a single playthrough, particularly in Mission 2, Edge of the World, Mission 6, The Dust District, and Mission 8, The Grand Palace.

The first opportunity you'll have to listen to the musical duo's song is during the second mission. Before reaching Addemire Station, just north of the Overseer Outpost, there is a small market-like area with several NPCs roaming around. The two musicians can be found - and heard - in this market. Stick around and listen to the song for a few minutes before carrying on with your objective(s).

Later, on the sixth mission, they can be found inside the saloon where Paolo is located. It may seem wise to eliminate the Vice Overseer and then enter the saloon - so that the Howlers will not attack you - but this will cause the musicians to disappear. Instead, head into the the saloon as soon as you're able to (remaining undetected, of course), and sit yourself in the hallway just before the parlor (or on the balcony of the upper floors). You can hear the song from afar so long as you're facing the musicians and/or using your spyglass. Again, listen to their song for a few minutes before continuing on with the mission.

The third and final opportunity comes during the eighth mission. Just before passing through the Wall of Light to the Grand Palace, hitch a right on the street and make your way over to the well-lit alleyway. There are two Howlers sitting down and speaking; wait until the enemies have finished talking and have separated before eliminating them. Now climb the stairs and in the distance you should be able to see the musical duo surrounded by three civilians. Join the crowd, listen to their song for a few minutes, and then be on your way. The achievement should unlock as you leave the alleyway.

NOTE: Do not cause any sort of panic in Mission 2, 6, or 8, otherwise the musicians will run away and you cannot hear their songs. Additionally, it is reported that if you rob multiple Black Market shops (more than one) during your playthrough, the third musical duo will never show up.

  • Score a headshot while sliding

This achievement can be earned at any time during your playthrough and can be done wither either Corvo or Emily.

The earliest and easiest opportunity to work on this is during Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall. Before leaving Emily's safe room, make sure to loot the pistol and the extra bullets on the workstation near the tower's exit. Once you reach the city streets, and after learning about Drop Assassinations and taking out the first guard in the courtyard below, climb the nearby stairs and hop on the ledge to get a full view of the street. You should see four guards speaking.

Make a manual save here (you can revert back to this save if you mess up) and drop down to the street. Now equip the pistol, sprint towards the guards, and tap to slide. As you are sliding, adjust your reticle as necessary and try to fire a single bullet at one of the guard's heads. If you're lucky, you should score a headshot and unlock the achievement, though don't feel defeated if it takes a few tries.

NOTE: If you are having trouble getting the achievement on the first mission, you can try again later after using Runes to unlock the "Reflexes" skill and its upgrade, "Focused Slide."

  • Peruse all journals and audiographs by Meagan Foster and Anton Sokolov aboard the Dreadful Wale

This achievement is highly missable. There is no definitive recommendation as to which playthrough this is better suited for since all of the collectibles are found during the interims of each mission aboard the Dreadful Wale.

Naturally, this achievement will span the entirety of a single playthrough, requiring you to locate and collect all of the journal and audiograph collectibles scattered aboard the various cabins of the ship. There is no way to track progress, so it's in your best interest to create a manual save each time you wake up on the ship and then follow the video guide below. Take note that you have six playable sequences on the Dreadful Wale: before Mission 2 and Mission 4, as well before Missions 5, 6, 8, and 9.

Please refer to the video guide below for a visual guide in finding all of the journals and audiographs needed for this achievement. As PowerPyx notes in the video description, some of the journals he finds may actually be duplicates or not needed (indicating there aren't necessarily forty-five collectibles), but it's strongly recommended to follow the video to a tee regardless. "Better safe than sorry."

  • Complete the game without killing anyone

This achievement is missable and will naturally be paired with a Low Chaos playthrough.

Completing an entire playthrough without killing a single individual will test your mettle, though it's not overly difficult to those who are patient and methodical. Do take note that the achievement description specifies "anyone," indicating human enemies such as the Howlers, the Grand Guard, the Overseers, and Witches cannot be killed. Killing Clockwork Soldiers, hounds, rats, and/or bloodflies will not count against you, though.

Unfortunately, there aren't many gadgets and equipment items to deal with hostiles non-lethally. Your main "weapons" on this playthrough will be sleeping bolts and your hands (knocking people out by holding ). In my personal opinion, though, it's best to avoid contact altogether and simply sneak your way around enemies during missions. As a result, this achievement is best stacked with "Ghost." If you do happen to accidentally kill an enemy, you can reload your latest save and carry on.

Here a few additional tips for this achievement, most of which detail the non-lethal methods in dealing each mission's targets.

    • Save often, be it a manual save or quick save, even if it's every five minutes.
    • Take extra care with knocked-out enemies; if left in a puddle of water, unconscious enemies can die.
    • On Mission 3, follow the solution for "Counter-serum" in order to eliminate Dr. Hypatia non-lethally.
    • On Mission 4, reconfigure the machinery inside Jindosh's lab so that once the man has been knocked out, you can eliminate him once and for all via the lobotomy mechanism.
    • On Mission 5, there are two Witches in an alley near the Conservatory. If you knock them out and then use the Oracular device to eliminate Ashworth, the two Witches will die for an unknown, unscripted reason (mostly a glitch). Leave these Witches alone as to avoid their potential deaths.
    • On Mission 5, make your way to the topmost floor of the Conservatory and loot Ashworth's lab/office. You're looking for the lens; install the new lens into the Oracular device in the atrium in order to eliminate Ashworth non-lethally.
    • On Mission 6, either follow the solution for "Eureka" or side with the Howlers by eliminating Vice Overseer Byrne. Do not side with the Overseers on this playthrough as that involves killing Paolo.
    • On Mission 7, spare Stilton's life by rendering him unconscious (a sleeping dart will do just fine) once you manage to track him down inside the manor.
    • On Mission 8, there are two smugglers near a beached ship before you reach the streets of the city. If you do not knock them out right away, they will automatically die if you trigger the dialogue with the woman/captain who is locked out of the Black Market shop.
    • On Mission 8, locate the body double in the Grand Palace (his location is randomized each playthrough between the fourth floor office, the room above his main chambers on the fifth and sixth floor, the private gardens, or the throne room on the second floor) and engage in dialogue. Agree to help expose the Duke. You'll then be tasked with bringing the real Duke to his bed chamber as to arrest him. Make your way to his location, subdue the Duke with a sleeping bolt, and stealthily bring him back up the his bed chamber.
    • On Mission 9, enter Emily's safe room and then make your way into Jessamine's secret chamber. Here, you will eventually find a shrine on the far right side of the chamber. There is a note on how to create corrupt Bonecharms. Craft the corrupt Bonecharm at this shrine, return to the throne room, place the corrupt Bonecharm on the throne, and then use the Heart on Delilah (just hold while standing behind her). Now follow her into the painting and once you've found her (she is directly above you on the rocks when you enter the painting), knock her out and return her to the throne room. Place her on the throne and she will be sucked back into her painted world.

As a final note, it's worth mentioning that during the post-mission stat board you will be shown three stats for lethality and stealth. For the purposes of this achievement, you will want to make sure the "Merciful - Didn't kill anyone" stat is checked off. So long as that stat is checked off at the end of all nine missions, you will unlock this achievement when the final cutscene begins to play.

  • Save the Printer of the Dunwall Courier

This achievement can be earned during Mission 1, A Long Day in Dunwall.

After leaving the Dunwall Tower, you will find yourself on the city streets. Deal with the guards on patrol here however you see fit for your playthrough and on the left-hand side of the street you will find a building called Dunwall Courier. Enter this building and make your way to the topmost floor. In the sole room on this floor you will find a guard harassing the Printer. The guard will always have his back to you, so take him out however you wish (lethally or non-lethally) and speak to the Printer afterwards. The achievement will unlock after speaking with the Printer.

  • Steal a corpse for Mindy Blanchard

This achievement can be earned during Mission 2, Edge of the World.

Once you are at the docks of Karnaca, head towards the Black Market (it will be marked with a waypoint on your HUD) via the apartment building along the street. When you reach the top floor of this apartment, you should notice an open window; you will overhear a woman talking. Climb out of the window and speak with the woman in order to initiate a new objective. She will ask you to collect an already-dead body from the Overseer Outpost and deliver it to a secluded building.

Simply follow the waypoint on your HUD to the Overseer Outpost, collect the body, and make your way to the basement of the Dentist's office where Mindy is waiting. The achievement will unlock after dumping the body into the grave in the basement and speaking with Mindy.

  • Stop the Grand Guard from pushing someone into the Wall of Light

This achievement can be earned during Mission 2, Edge of the World.

As you make your way past the docks and through the streets of Karnaca, you will naturally reach a Wall of Light. In front of this Wall of Light are two Grand Guards; one of the guards is pushing a civilian towards the electric barrier. Be swift: eliminate the bully of a guard however you see fit in order to save the civilian and the achievement will unlock.

  • Drop from Addermire’s highest point and take out an enemy below

This achievement can be earned during Mission 3, The Good Doctor.

As soon as you reach the isle that holds Addemire Institute, you will want to make your way to the rooftop of the building. You can get there via the elevator inside the Institute, or by use of Blink/Far Reach. Once you are on the very highest point of the rooftop, make your way to the back of the building and jump on the ledge. If you look down from here and use your spyglass, you should be able to see a guard or two patrolling the balcony below. If they are not in a position where you can reach them, use a crossbow bolt to lure them into a better location.

When the enemy guard is where you want them to be, jump off the rooftop ledge and just as you are about to fall on top of them, hold and you will perform an assassination, thus unlocking the achievement.

NOTE: This achievement cannot be earned during a "No Powers" run; without Blink/Far Reach, you simply cannot reach the highest point of Addemire Institute.

  • Chat with Dr. Hypatia aboard the Dreadful Wale

This achievement is missable. It can only be earned if you eliminate Dr. Hypatia non-lethally during Mission 3, The Good Doctor.

The main objective in this mission is to track down and speak with Dr. Hypatia. Once you reach her location inside the Addemire Institute, ignore her completely. Instead, move towards the back of the room and speak with the patient (Hypatia's assistant) who is near death, laying down on a cot. He will inform you of the doctor's wrongdoings and of a method that can cure her insanity. This will initiate a secondary objective that asks you to create a counter-serum in the assistant's lab.

Follow the waypoint to your new objective, collect the necessary items to create the serum, and then interact with the flask on the assistant's work station. Grab the serum and return the morgue where you originally found Dr. Hypatia. Stealthily, you will need to approach the doctor from behind (or above) and hold to inject her with the serum. With this done, go on to finish the mission and once back aboard the Dreadful Wale, you can speak with Dr. Hypatia, thus unlocking the achievement.

  • Kill Paolo three times

This achievement is highly missable. It is earned over the course of a single playthrough, particularly during Mission 4, The Clockwork Mansion, and Mission 6, The Dust District.

The first opportunity you will have to kill Paolo is during Mission 4, The Clockwork Mansion. Upon visiting the Black Market shop, the storekeeper will ask that you return at a later time due to a visitor who is on their way. Be quick and hide anywhere in the room (on the rafters or underneath the nearby table). Paolo will soon appear alongside a few Howlers and this is where you'll want to take him out, only to realize his dead body transforms into a flood of rats.

The second and third opportunity to kill Palo is during Mission 6, The Dust District. Your objective during this mission is to make it past the Jindosh lock leading to Aramis' manor. The Howlers or the Overseers can aid in solving the riddle shielding the lock should you deliver the body of the opposing faction's leader. Naturally then, Paolo will be marked as a primary objective on your HUD. Head to the Howler's territory, enter the saloon, and kill Paolo and all of his gang mates. After you kill him, he will turn into a swarm of rats again and respawn upstairs near his shrine. Track him down, kill him one last time (which will put an end to him for good), and the achievement will finally unlock.

NOTE: This achievement is best saved for the lethal High Chaos playthrough, as killing Paolo will void the "Clean Hands" achievement.

  • Eliminate Jindosh without him ever knowing you were there

This achievement can be earned during Mission 4, The Clockwork Mansion.

After entering the Jindosh Mansion, you will turn right and enter a large parlor-like display room. Normally, you would need to activate the lever on your right in order to reconfigure the room and gain access to the rest of the mansion; however, for this achievement, you cannot pull any levers at all because it alerts Jindosh of your presence in the mansion. What you'll need to do is look up at the ceiling and use your crossbow to shoot out a window pane in the skylight. Using Blink/Far Reach, you can now climb up onto the "roof" of this room and proceed to make your way through the mansion's inner walls, using blink when necessary to reach the higher levels.

Eventually you will come to a wall with three windows. On the other side of this wall are two guards; open a window and deal with the guards stealthily as to remain undetected. Keep in mind that getting detected at any point will void the achievement. Hitch a right in this room once the guards have been dealt with, move down the hallway and pass through the next room and out onto the balcony. Jump off the balcony and onto the metal pipes below, following them to the small landing on the right side of the mansion's outer wall. Crawl through the hatch on the landing and use the elevator in the small room you emerge within to reach the fourth floor.

Past the open doorway right in front you is a circular balcony that overlooks Jindosh's lab. The man himself can be seen on the far right, as well as a single patrolling Clockwork Soldier. Depending on your playstyle, use whatever means necessary to eliminate Jindosh quietly and, preferably, from afar (a crossbow bolt, a sleeping bolt, etc.). The achievement will unlock once Jindosh has been eliminated.

NOTE: This achievement cannot be paired with a "No Powers" playthrough since you will not have access to Blink/Far Reach in order to escape the first parlor undetected.

  • Listen to the voices of the Sisters of the Oracular Order

This achievement can be earned during Mission 5, The Royal Conservatory.

After gaining access to the Conservatory, make your way to the right-hand side of the building; you will soon find yourself inside a large three-story, atrium-like room. For the purposes of this achievement, it would be best to eliminate all of the witches inside this room before interacting with the Oracular device on the second floor (the device is quite large and hard to miss). Once the witches have been dealt with, interact with the Oracular switch and listen to the voice that fills the room. Pull the lever a second time after the voice ceases, then a third after that. The achievement will unlock after listening to all three voices.

NOTE: This achievement must be done before obtaining and installing the new lens into the device, that is, assuming you are going the non-lethal route in dealing with Ashworth. Additionally, though not entirely necessary, this is best done during a lethal High Chaos playthrough since it's preferable to have the Witches in this room eliminated before interacting with the Oracular three times. If they are left alive when you go to interact with the machine, they will become alerted and they will attack you.

  • Heard Meagan Foster’s story

During the interim between Mission 8 and Mission 9 aboard the Dreadful Wale, be sure to talk to Meagan for one last time; she is on the deck, port-side, and will reveal her true identity. After hearing the entirety of her story, the achievement will finally unlock.
