King of the Hill Achievement

  • King of the Hill

    10

    Defeated the Arishok.

This is missable. Doing this quest is the point of no return for Act II so make sure you complete anything else you would like to do before proceeding. During the quest "Demands of the Qun", you will encounter two separate scenarios based on whether or not you completed the companion quest for Isabella:

    • Completed 50% Companion Quest: Isabella will return and you have the option to hand her over to the Qunari or defend her. You MUST defend her in order to fight the Arishok. Choosing to hand her over without violence will cause you to miss the achievement.

    • Uncompleted 50 % Companion Quest: With Isabella out of the picture, the Arishok will ask you how you want to resolve the conflict. Select “On the battlefield” for a one-on-one duel (toughest option). You can also choose to battle him with your party by selecting "By returning the book" followed by "When you put it that way". Do not choose "We can work this out" because the achievement will not unlock.

Strategy for this fight can be found in the video below:

  • this Achievement is slightly glitched, i just got it and the Arishok's lifebar is still full, just killed every other Quanari in the room, my party have all fell, so it was just Hawke and the Arishok I'm a rogue in my game, used the stelth ability and the Arishok has just wandered off and i have the achievement, lol gotta actually kill him now
  • haha 1v1 duel with arishok using an archer is a trick...
  • This didn't unlock for me when I killed him with my party. When I restarted and dueled him one on one I received the achievement.
  • its almost impossible to take him with a rogue toe to toe
  • It's hard to take him one on one with any class because even a strong warrior can not go toe to toe with the Arishok straight up. I have yet to do a complete playthrough with the rogue but I always fought the Arishok one on one with my warrior and mage. You pretty much have to do hit and runs because you can't really stun or stop his attacks unless you dodge them.
  • Tried to beat him with my rogue 1 on 1 until I realised that was a BIG mistake. So instead I restarted and got everyone involved and then defeated him. However, the achievement didn't bother coming up for me :(
  • I beat him with My warrior easily on my first try without my health going past half. There is a glitch where if your a warrior you can keep equiping and un equiping a shield and Your guys armor will keep rising and stay that way even without the shield. My armor was over 7,000 when i fought him and to correct the maker of the guide you DO NOT have to turn over Isabella because i didn't and i still fought him so yeah you might wanna know more before you make a guide on here.
  • can some one give me advice on how to beat him though? im a rouge and have been stuck on this part for a day or two now any advice will be greatly appreciated thank you
  • Im a mage and i cant beat him too :/
  • mages can slow him down with the ice spells and then keep hitting till he gets out of it. rogues could use assasination and backstab till he dies. warriors i dont know yet im still doing that playthrough.
  • I've seen that this is nigh impossible with a dual weapon rogue, but this is not true. I did it with healing potions and stamina draughts, combustion grenades and miasmic flask for ranged attacks, and backstab/assassinate when I got close. I dont know if this will help anyone, but I thought I'd share!
  • I bet him by running with my mage and used my ice spells to slow him down. once slowed hit him with a couple area based spells. It takes a while but it gets the job done.
  • It's pretty easy to beat the Arishok if u turn the difficulty down to Casual. However on Normal or Hard, I found it to be challenging, he unleashes more powerful attacks and may use more than 3 health potions. I've played this game as a rouge and a mage, the rouge was a difficult battle, but as a mage I crushed his bullballs >:D The key spells u wanna teach ur mage for this battle: -Horror (stops him in his tracks for about 10 seconds & damages with upgrade) -Crushing Prison (it also stops him and does alot of damage) -One of the ice spells to slow him -Heal (with upgrade) With the spells to slow him, u could get some distance from him & attack with ur staff and when he's immobilized from Horror or Crushing Prison follow up with more powerful spells like Firestorm. You'll beat h

  • Oops, my bad, double-posting XD I don't know how that happened lol But anyway, I said all I needed ;p
  • This one was so much easier when I did 3 things at the beginning: 1) Summon your Mabari -- the dog is both DPS and a great tank 2) Jump sideways, fast 3) take a Life Ward Potion the fight was over so fast that i didn't realize he was dead until i heard the achievement pop.
  • I was unprepared for this fight, I couldn't get through without 1 party member going down. let one die and boom instant success. stupid.
  • I finally beat this homo and I can say he is so hard with a rouge. It took me two days. I kept getting the achievments before I even killed him. But whatever good luck who ever still needs to kill this guy.
