Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires is your average Koei hack and slash, with one man killing 500 in 15 minutes being a normal occurrence. The game's achievements can be split into 3 sections. Empire Mode completion, special stage completion, and officers unlocked. There are 6 variations of the same map in Empire Mode, with the only difference being land control looking a bit different from the get go, and what Special Stages are available. You also unlock achievements for obtaining every benchmark of 10 officers, 20 officers, 30 officers, and so on, all the way up to 250 officers. You can refer to THIS THREAD for in-depth explanations on how to unlock all 250 officers, and how to trigger every special stages. It should also be noted that you must save after you have met an achievement's requirements for the achievement to unlock in this game.

Step 1: Getting Started
The first thing you should do is make an edit character you can use for all of your playthroughs. I highly suggest Zuo Ci's move set, as it is, in most people's opinion, the best in the game. Now fire up Yellow Turban Rebellion, and get started with your first empire.

Step 2: Empire Mode
These are the playthroughs you must complete to unlock the 6 "Cleared" achievements. It is the same basic concept over and over again. If you want to try and make things go a bit quicker, make peace with 1-2 of the largest enemy empires. But first, capture a territory that can be used to attack the territory the friendly leaders reside in. With the help of your friends, kill all off every little empire. Once it is left to you and any enemy you chose to remain peaceful with up to this point, break off the truces, kill the enemy leaders, and you instantly obtain their entire empire.

Step 3: Special Stages
Please use the link in the introduction for in-depth explanations on how to trigger certain Special Stages. As for which scenarios host which Special Stages-

Yellow Turban Rebellion: Yellow Turban Rebellion
Dong Zhou in Lou Yang: Battle of Hu Lao Gate
Battle of Guan Du: Battle of Guan Du
Flames Over Chi Bi: Battle of Chi Bi, Battle of Yi Ling

Step 4: 250 Officers Unlocked
As you play through the game, you will notice the word "Get" by various officers. If an officer has Get by them, it means that you have saved your game while they were under your command, and they are 1 of the officers counting towards your 250. I suggest that throughout your 5 Empire Modes, before you do A Gathering Of Heroes, you make an effort to obtain any non-getted officers along the way. Sure, it is easiest to obtain them in A Gathering Of Heroes. But, some officers are extremely picky/want one of those 3 items that you just can't seem to get. You can lower the amount of these people during A Gathering Of Heroes by picking them up during the other 5 Empire Modes. Note that you MUST save with the person under your command for them to count towards your officer total. Feel free to dispose of them after you have saved with them under your command. For an in-depth explanation on how to obtain all 250 officers, please use the link in the introduction.

Conclusion:
If you haven't unlocked every officer by this point, re-play A Gathering Of Heroes to unlock all 250 officers. If you still need to take part in a Special Stage, be sure to finish it up as well.

All of the officer achievements can be aquired alot easier than you may think.

Under "Empire Mode" you will find "A Gathering of Heroes." This is the scenerio you will need while doing these achievements. Pick any territory and fill it with any officer of your choosing.

Now is a vital part, when choosing the setting of the game, make sure you Pick MANY as the Army Limit, this allows more space for more officers.

The main reason for Selecting this particular scenerio is that if you notice, all the other scenerios take place in a certain timeframe so sone of the officers may or may not be alive in certain scenerios as opposed to others. Where as in "A Gathering of Heroes", they all are available.

Play out the game until you have control of 24 of the 25 lands. After doing so, you may want to make an alliance with the last remaining territory as to prevent him from invading you, the remaining process takes time and by the time you get this far, you'll want it to be over.

When giving your orders, under "Assign," you will find "Personnel." Listed here will be the following:
    "Hire-Local"
    "Recruit"
    "Search-Local"
    "Hire-Wide"

Now there is a good chance that two of these may not be available to you. If so, you will need to learn them. How to do that is by choosing "Consult" and asking a group of Officers what they "Think" you should do. Eventually, these options will be one of them. Once you select a new feature, it will always be available for you to use.

I used "Recruit," and graf1k used "Hire-Wide" but either will work. Essentially you now hire all the officers you don't have. When you get to the battle phase, skip it to aquire more income and continue your search for your needed officers.

Another vital piece of information to have is that when looking at the list of officers you are wanting to hire, if the Officer has "GET!!!" flashing beside their name, they have already been hired by you. You only need to hire an officer once to get credit for it so if you dismiss them after hireing them to make room for more, don't worry, it's covered and you're ok.

  • Cleared if you play the special stage, Yellow Turban Rebellion.

Start the scenerio "The Yellow Turban Rebellion." Choose Yuan Shao's province, he controls the yellow Land. Once done, skip your first invasion and you will then be prompted to enter the Special Stage "Yellow Turban Rebellion."

  • Cleared if you play the special stage, the Battle of Hu Lao Gate.

Start the Scenerio "Dong Zhou in Luo Yang." Choose Sun Jian's province, he controls red colored Land's and proceed to the battle phase. Skip the invasion and you will be prompted to enter the Special Stage "The Battle of Hu Lao Gate."

  • Cleared if you play the special stage, the Battle of Guan Du.

Start the scenario "Guan Du." Pick one of Yuan Shao's provinces. He controls the Large yellow section on the top of the map. Once again, proceed the the battle phase and skip your invasion. You will then be prompted to enter the Special Stage "Battle of Guan Du."

  • Cleared if you play the special stage, the Battle of Chi Bi.

Start the scenerio "Flames over Chi Bi." Pick one of Sun Quan's provinces, he controls the Red land's just as his father did before him. Once again, proceed to the batte phase and skip your invasion. You will then be prompted to enter the Special Stage "The Battle of Chi Bi."

  • Cleared if you play the special stage, the Battle of Yi Ling.

This is the Tough one to get to trigger. The Source of information is donthehatemalek, from https://www.gamefaqs.com:

In the "Flames over Chi Bi" scenerio, play as Wu or Shu.

If playing as Wu, don't take ANYTHING except for the bottom free province. ALLY with Cao Cao for Long Term and let Liu Bei take all of the territories until he borders "Chang Sha." Let him take "Chang Sha," then invade him. Once you have aquired "Chang Sha," the next turn you will recieve a message about Li Ying, Participate.

As Shu, take "Chang Sha" and either provoke Wu into attacking you or let Wu attack you then retreat and Attack "Chang Sha."

  • Cleared when you gain control of all 25 areas in Empire mode scenario, Yellow Turban Rebellion.

See "Cleared A Gathering of Heroes".

  • Cleared when you gain control of all 25 areas in Empire mode scenario, Dong Zhuo in Luo Yang.

See "Cleared A Gathering of Heroes".

  • Cleared when you gain control of all 25 areas in Empire mode scenario, Divided Land.

See "Cleared A Gathering of Heroes".

  • Cleared when you gain control of all 25 areas in Empire mode scenario, Battle of Guan Du.

See "Cleared A Gathering of Heroes".

  • Cleared when you gain control of all 25 areas in Empire mode scenario, Flames over Chi Bi.

See "Cleared A Gathering of Heroes".

  • Cleared when you gain control of all 25 areas in Empire mode scenario, A Gathering of Heroes.

There's no real method to any of the madness that is involved in any of these. They have to be played all the way through and there is no reall good way to speed them up.

IMPORTANT: Always remember to save AFTER the last battle when it prompts you or you will NOT get the Achievement for completing the scenerio.
